I'm a single, hard-working mom I took one of our cars to Stewart asking them to please diagnose…read moreit and call me with an estimate before any work was done. However, several days later after not hearing from them, I called and a guy said that the car was ready to go. I said "What? I had asked for it to be diagnosed." He said, "Oh well it's ready to go- it's all fixed." I said, "That's not what I had asked for." He said, "Ooh okay- I'll do you a good deal." He said, "Well this is what we did to it, and it'll cost $400." At that time, I did not ask him how much the regular price was and trusted that they were going to do me right. After all, they're a Christian business, right? When I went to pick up the car I thought since they were giving me a deal, I would go ahead and get an oil change and some wipers. The shop manager then told me the total was $692! I stated that I was quoted $400 over the phone because they had not diagnosed it first and had not called me prior to fixing the car. He reluctantly gave me the bill for $400+ . Well, we got the car back, and it still was not acting right. I called and asked them to look at it again. I told the Stewart man that it still wasn't starting right and was still trying to quit. He stated that they would take a look at it. I asked that he call me with an estimate. Well I received the call, and they said that the car acted fine for them. They claimed nothing was wrong with it except for the driver's air bag sticking out. My son told me that had been sticking out since way before we took it to Stewart the first time, but it never seemed a problem before. Anyway, I asked Stewart's manager if the car could stay with them on their lot because I didn't have the money to pay for it until payday. I told him I would come and pick it up Friday morning and pay him at that time. He was agreeable to that arrangement. Thursday evening my son called and asked if it was ready and to confirm the cost. The man told my son that it was not ready that they had not even started on it but that it would cost $40. I called him back and reminded him that I had asked him to please have it fixed by Friday morning. The man said that it was not ready that it wouldn't be ready until Friday afternoon and that when they fix it he doesn't want us to ever come back for business. He said I had been obstinate from the beginning! He was the one trying to overcharge me, had poor communication skills, didn't keep his word and was very condescending. I told him we really needed the car earlier in the day like we had planned but I didn't mind not coming back to him for business and that after we picked up the car he would never see us again.

I was in the market for a reliable used car. I found one at a dealership in Center Point. The car…read morelooked nice, but I still wanted it looked over by a mechanic. Christian Brothers does pre-purchase vehicle inspections. They have two types of inspections. One is basically visual inspection and the other is an in-depth check of the car. Of course, I chose the more detailed inspection. When I went to drop the car off, I was greeted warmly by the man at the first desk. He recognized me from the phone. I received text messages letting me know when my car was being serviced, when it was ready, and a link to a report of their findings. The report was thorough. They even attached a video clip to demonstrate something that needed to be fixed. When I picked the car up, they reviewed the report with me further. They didn't push me on trying to have repairs done with them. The helped me decide to purchase the car. The report definitely helped with me being able to negotiate the price of the car to a more favorable price. If you need an used car looked at before buying, they can help you with that!

I had a very frustrating experience with Christian Brothers Automotive in Trussville. I took my…read morehusband's Audi in on a Monday for what we were told was a water hose and a few other hoses that needed to be replaced. What should have been a fairly straightforward repair ended up taking over a week. Throughout the week we were given multiple updates that turned out not to be accurate. Starting Wednesday we were told the car had been pulled in and was being worked on, and at one point we were told it would be ready, but it wasn't. Each day we kept getting different information, which felt like the runaround. We didn't end up getting the car back until the following Tuesday. Being without a vehicle that long was a huge inconvenience for our family. When I asked if there could be any type of discount because of the delay and miscommunication, I was told they couldn't offer any percentage off because they had to use a more expensive part for the Audi. While they did apologize for the miscommunication, the overall experience was still very disappointing. To make matters worse, about five days after getting the car back, we started smelling gas and had to bring the vehicle back again to have it checked. That was very concerning, especially after just having repairs done. I understand that repairs can take time, but better communication and making sure the job is fully completed the first time would have made a big difference.
