The NP should have told him to continue searching for an appropriate Doctor to take over. A specialist educated in his Genetic metabolism issue with the ability to continue his care. Would have been nice if he had been shown some conpassion and waited until after Christmas to give him a 30 day notice of discharge stating she would not be prescribing more than an 8th of his dosage. I feel bad that I'd get upset at the waiting room taking soo long as it was just because she gave her patients the time they deserved. You deserved a retirement, but you were an honorable doctor who took her job seriously. Doctors like her are a dying breed. I am sure that compassion earned her place in heaven though. Someone who will go the distance regardless if you're a textbook case or not. Dr. Shafran ... words can't describe her bedside manner, but once you get past her rough exterior, she's like a little puppy - soft, cute & cuddly. The staff... well, some days are good - some not so good. Overall- I refer everyone. Along with that I let them know that she's going to yell at you but instead of feeling insulted... laugh it's worth it.

Needless to say it was very painful, the topical numbing gel didn't do what I thought it would, and I vowed to NEVER do it again. So, four years later, I muster up the courage to give it a try again... This past Wednesday I visited In Shape MD, and I spoke with Dr. Shannon York about my concerns with lip injections and the last experience I had. Dr. York was understanding and very sensitive to my concerns and based on my history she suggested I get a dental block to numb the entire site. I agreed to give it a try again and as you know if you've been to a dentist and had a dental block, you CAN'T feel a thing. I spent a good 20 minutes in the chair with Dr. York as she was administering a dental block. Dr. York was very compassionate and extremely gentle in administering the shots. Given my history she wanted to make sure I was as comfortable as could be at all times and she took her time. After the dental block set in she started administering the lip injections, and I was so pleased, because I could not feel a thing!!! The procedure took about 45 minutes and by that time the dental block was starting to break -- thank goodness, because I did not want to walk around for hours with a numb face. Within two hours, I had complete feeling again and very minimal discomfort around the injection site. I would highly recommend visiting In Shape MD if you're considering any type of non-invasive cosmetic procedures, because Dr. York is a wonderful and very compassionate. It's been about a week since my lip injections, and I couldn't be happier with the look. The swelling is pretty much 100% gone and my lips look great. I am looking forward to visiting In Shape MD again for other cosmetic procedures. :P

As of now she gets 2 stars for actually seeing me about my issue when other doctors keep trying to refer me back to my surgeon when he refuses to help. I have no symptoms. Have a surgery to repair a hernia and I haven't felt normal since but my problem has nothing to do with the surgery. Sorry not buying it. I'm going to try the treatment she laid out for me so I can cross more stuff off the list and hopefully get me closer to having a doctor believe me. I saw Dr Sreenivasan for an annual Women's Exam. I told multiple staff members before the doctor entered the room that I had a pregnancy that didn't come to term. Due to that, my body can tend to clench during exams (stress). When Dr Sreenivasan entered, I gave her the same warning, and she then asked "how old is your baby?" I was shocked, since I not only told her assistants that I didn't carry to term, but it's also in my surgery records. She obviously didn't look at my chart or read the notes from the staff who took my vitals. She then continued to pry asking how old I was and how old "the baby" was when the pregnancy ended. There was no sensitivity. During the Woman's Exam, she made the oddest comments. "Why is it so dry?" "Why does it look like that?" - all with absolutely no explanation. She left the room and I had to assume the exam was over and I was supposed to get dressed. Do I leave the room? Am I supposed to be on the table still? After 10 minutes she returned and handed me papers and said "the front will explain this to you". I came to you for help and you made me feel insecure during the exam, left the room abruptly and didn't have the courtesy to try to explain to me what is going on in my body. I handed the front desk lady my papers and she told me that the doctor referred me out for an internal ultrasound and to another OBGYN. Why? Not sure. But it was a STAT referral, so needless to say I was extremely concerned.. especially considering the comments she made during the exam. I was contacted by my pharmacy because I had a prescription filled. She didn't diagnose me, didn't tell me she was giving me medication - literally nothing. I went to the pharmacy and requested a consultation. I asked the pharmacist what this medication would be used for. He seemed shocked and asked "she didn't diagnose you with anything?!" Nope! Nothing. He leaned over and said "this is usually prescribed for chlamydia". Okay. WHAT?!? By this point, I was just about ready to have a complete meltdown over this whole situation. The doctor I'm referred to called me to confirm my referral, thankfully while I was still in the CVS parking lot. I asked them if the original doctor said I had chlamydia or if she gave them a diagnosis. No, there was no mention of chlamydia or a potential diagnosis. I don't even have words. Absolutely worst physician I've ever had the poor luck to schedule with.
