I've previously submitted numerous "Trial by Declaration" responses in the past, but in this case, the Palo Alto CHP sided with the officer. They informed me that my "Not Guilty" plea invalidated my request for traffic school, and my only option now was a Trial de Novo or getting the point. I decided to contact Scotty for assistance. This is the worst lawyer I ever met-maybe the rudest person, too. I usually don't like to write bad things about a person or company, but in this case I had such a worst experience with Scotty Storey that I have to write this review. Lately, he is sending very rude, and racist threats. Scott accepted my case and said he would take care it for me and called me back two days later and said they he cannot work on my case because he does not have time to do the research on the other party. I was fine with it and looked for another lawyer who is professional and responsible. A week later I got a letter from his office demanding $653 for their service. (what in the world?) Why should I pay $653 when he rejected my case and ne never mentioned any fees in the beginning. This is totally a scam! He should be reviewed by the BAR. I came back to his office and was about to ask why he is charging me $653 for doing nothing, but Scott came out and yelled, "You better pay that F..... bill or else I'm going to take your sorry a... to court". Short Story on Mr. Storey: I was in a motorcycle accident in San Francisco during November of 2009, resulting in an injury that had to be surgically corrected. It was a hit-and-run. After selling me on his advocacy skills, I signed a representation agreement with Storey's firm, and filled out a lot of paperwork. After receiving a questionable police report, Storey's "investigator" contacted the witness, a few days later I received a letter of non-representation. Story felt the witness contradicted my story, basically accused me of lying, and dropped me. Another attorney took the case, and actually deposed the witness. She was so unreliable, and so unsure of the circumstances of the case (didn't remember whether it was night or day, thought it was a Sunday because people were coming from Church, when it was a weekday evening, and admitted having a sleep disorder) that she wasn't even a factor. In my opinion, Mr. Storey is interested only in slam-dunk cases where he is guaranteed to profit. I can't, in good conscience, recommend his services to anyone. read more

Due to unfortunate circumstances (we have all been there) I was charged with a DUI. Since this was my first experience in dealing with this, I literally had no idea where to go for legal representation. My mailbox was literally flooded each day with "jail mail" from every DUI attorney within a 50 mile radius. Although I was not that experienced in dealing with DUI, I did know that I did not want to rush selecting a capable attorney since I value my money and the outcome vastly affects my life. "What to do after getting arrested for a DUI?" was the question I asked myself. The answer was clear; I needed to hire a lawyer but which one? District Attorney wanted to me to do 72 days in jail because of the "speed enhancement" related to my case. Fortunately I found Scotty Storey. I received a free consultation and received a very candid evaluation of my case. Scotty worked up my case and handled the DMV APS in person hearing with the arresting officer. He was able to keep the case going long enough for me to attend a very important family function that was out of the country instead of pleading out the case at the first opportunity like some attorneys would. Scotty found the weaknesses in the DA's case and advised me of all of my options. In the end the choice was either to go to trial to try to beat the speed enhancement, which added a mandatory 60 days to the sentence I could have received for also having a blood alcohol level over a .15 or to accept the negotiated plea Scotty worked out for me, which would allow me to do the time I would be sentenced, 20 days, on the Weekend Work Program. Out of an abundance of caution, I decided to accept the offer and with Scotty's help I was able to do the program in such a way as to cause as little impact on my life as possible. For better or for worse, I have had more than one opportunity to have Storey & Storey represent me for traffic related matters. Scotty is the BEST!!! Initially, Scotty represented me a on a run of the mill traffic ticket. Let's just say, the result was great enough to keep me coming back for future issues. I then was charged with a reckless driving while on Highway 101. This was completely ridiculous charge. The officer claimed that I was weaving in and out of traffic while driving at an unsafe speed. The big problem with this charge is that it is a 2 point misdemeanor!!! The DA's Office wanted jail time if there was a conviction for the charge. Scotty fought the case with all of the diligence and expertise that I have come to expect from him. In the end, Scotty managed a deal where I was convicted of two infractions but only received one point on my license. Next, I was racially profiled while in Los Gatos and I got pulled over late at night and ultimately charged with a DUI. Scotty spent more than a year fighting my case. It came to my attention that Scotty was the first person in the history of Santa Clara County to actually go to the crime lab and view the blood samples on the DUI cases. The result of that investigation caused the District Attorney's Office, the Crime Lab, and the people who take the blood samples to change the procedures and policies. After the long battle, the DA's Office finally offered a "dry reckless" in order to resolve the case. I did not want to take the offer and Scotty was more than prepared and ready to go to trial and fight to the bitter end for me.
