The location isnt in the best location, and the building isnt in the best shape, but their teriyaki bowls, egg roll, and donuts are awesome. Staff is super friendly. Disregard the review from the "elite" reviewer who said the staff wasnt friendly when she picked up donuts on Christmas day. Scotty's Doughnuts is a hidden gem. I have passed by it for year always wanting to try and today was the day. Besides having great doughnuts, and great customer service. This place had one of the best teriyaki chicken bowls I have had. Packed with juicy, and delicious chicken it blows places like Panda out of the water. Definitely gonna come again soon. This is THE place for donuts. I've had donuts from the French bakery by Stanford U... the Bay Area, Sac, Houston Texas, Orange County, Vegas.. I've eaten donuts.. the donuts here are so good you'll wish you could eat them all day and in your sleep. There's a bar shaped with choc frosting and what they call Bavarian creme filling that's so good .. not overly sweet filling ... Just creamy delicate and sweetened perfectly. If I weren't so fat I'd be eating one right now. I've heard they run out of donuts here... Probably because they serve fresh ones. The best customer service hands down. The girl who works there basically runs the front all by herself. Drive thru can be a little slowly because of that but the food is worth the wait. I really like their egg rolls and teriyaki bowls! but their donuts are just as good. my favorite donut is the regular sugar donuts but i love a good chocolate donut just as much as anyone. I wanted to like this place, I really enjoy a good teriyaki bowl, but today I got a chicken beef combo The beef just tasted funny, and chewy. The chicken tasted like it's been there and not fresh. Any 1 star reviewer is playing themselves. Scotty's has the best teriyaki in town. Hands down. I used to live close by and even after I moved I'll still drive across town for a bowl. Everything is perfect. Chicken, beef, pork are all amazing, and their teriyaki!! Oh my! I wish they'd bottle it and sell it! I am defiantly considering reporting them to the health department Was on the way to class and stopped to get a donut, and boy did I regret not just going to Starbucks. The parking Lot is hobo infested with security circling the building in a little golf kart chasing them away, it kinda looked like the hood version of Mario kart, so the outside atmosphere alone gets an A+ in my book. The inside is a out dated dirty and very dusty super old donut shop with a window of the kitchen in the back that looked like possibly the dirtiest place in Modesto, these all should have been signs to leave ASAP but I was a fool. But now down to the donuts , they sure did not make me go nuts, The first donut I chose was a chocolate Bar, at most places the bars come pre filled with cream or custard , but here they take the bars cut them in half in the back of there disgustingly dirty kitchen wearing no gloves and spread the custard with a knife just sitting on the counter , most likely both not washed hands or knife. I tried the donut rushing to class starving to my stomach and it was just what I expected terrible like the whole experience. I also got a old fashioned blueberry donut which is basically just an old-fashioned donut with blueberries and more icing or frosting poured on top so it really wasn't my cup of tea ,it was tossed after the first bite. Oh ya this place cooks chicken also.........but unless your standards of food are below basic human quality I wouldn't recommend going that route. I heard MR.T's donuts or something like that is a much better experience I will be taking my business there next time I recommend you all do the same. read more

Ok... so when you go to Scotty's just be ready to deal with the burden of having to see homeless as the mission is right there... and yes, they do serve teriyaki bowls, so don't let it be a surprise that they have both doughnuts and teriyaki... However, their Blueberry doughnut deserves a damn nobel prize... it's a damn game changer, and I can confirm this because I've tried every blueberry in town... in fact, it is THEE best doughnut in town... again, the blueberry doughnut is a HEAVY HITTER.. Scotty's is like going to the circus only far more comical and dangerous. Where else in the world can you go to see homeless people, a panhandler, a crack dealer, a prostitute, buy a cheap Rolex, get some donuts, and eat teriyaki chicken all at the same time? If you are here on one of the "special days" you may even get to see fireworks from the muzzle flash of a gun and police lights. What kid wouldn't love that? Mommy can we go to Scotty's? Please, pretty please with sugar on top. All kidding aside, the donuts are good but is it worth the hassle of dealing with the drama surrounding it? The chicken bowl I have not tried so I can't comment on that. During the day I would keep one eye open at all times. At night you should probably avoid it altogether unless you are packing heat and have an MMA belt. If you have never been here, give it a try for the novelty then decide if risking your life for a cheap donut is really worth it. Tip: Be sure to play Too Short's "The Ghetto" when you are rolling on up to get your donut fix. It adds to the ambiance and lets others know you are Old Skool fabulous. Yeah this area of town sucks, but you have to try the Fresh Cream filled bars!!! You have to ask for them, but they taste like heaven.
