Between all the soothing scents, beautiful items to look at, and all the wood and exposed brick. It's hits all of my favorite things. When you're into shops like this like I am you'll sometimes see some of the stock repeated from store to store. But at Stone and Spoon I rarely see things I've seen anywhere else. They have really great eye and amazing suppliers that keep things fresh. I appreciate that. Last time I was here I got a few houseplants, a wax sealer for mail, a few cookbooks, and some Gus & Grey passion fruit cocktail syrup. I expect some respect, that comes in the form of eye contact and "hello or thank you" while I spend my money in your shop so be civil and tell your family/buddies to 'hang on while you cash out your customer'. I don't want to feel like i'm bothering you to shop in your store. No thank you. In chain stores, people lose their jobs for this type of behaviour. So while my first visit's rating was a 5 star (for the available products and their quality), I have to drop down to 1 star for customer service.

However, I've noticed a consistent pattern that's made me increasingly uncomfortable. Each time we're in the store, the staff behaves as if we're being watched closely--asking if we want items held at the counter or having an employee follow us under the pretense of folding shirts while we browse. I've spent over $100 here so far and don't appreciate being treated with suspicion. Having worked in retail myself, I'm familiar with the signs of someone being monitored because they're assumed to be stealing, and that's how it feels every time I shop here. I really like the shop's selection--especially the Jellycats--but there are other local stores that carry similar products. I'm willing to give the shop one more chance, but if I experience this same treatment again, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
