I just made an account to write this review. I've been coming here forever, never had an issue until now. They decided to tell me as I'm in their store waiting for my haircut that my stylist quit and there was nothing else available. The fact that they did absolutely nothing to accommodate this blew my mind. They did nothing to fix it and basically said "sorry". Like what? Not to mention they cancelled my appointment yesterday due to a stylist "having car issues". Unbelievable how unprofessional this experience was. Scouts Barbershop is a local chain with 6 locations around Nashville. This Scout's sits just off the Main Street in downtown Franklin and can be hard to find. If you are coming off of Main Street you enter through Franklin Road apparel. Once you get the back of this store you will enter a small vestibule type space where the entrance to Scout's is. I came to Scout's knowing it was a chain, but was hoping it still had some local left in it, but sadly it was more commercial than local. I a still in search of a barber after moving to Nashville, so building a relationship with someone is important to me. During the talk with the stylist, he mentioned he was just working here in passing while he builds clientele at another location where he will then focus his efforts later in the year. This is exactly what I wanted to avoid and the reason I was a little shy of the chain...but good for him and all the best. The thought of having a different person cut me up every three weeks is stressful, so I think I will continue my search for a steady local shop and barber. Plus my cut was just "meh". I will give Scout's credit on the decor and overall feel of the place. It did feel like a fairly upscale, manly and trendy shop. The service was solid as well from the call I made looking for the entrance to the welcome I received once I finally found it! The space was bright with cool chairs and art along with wood counters and nice barber chairs. The shop was clean and in good condition. Got my hair cut here today for the first time. Jaclyn was friendly, professional and gave me a great cut! Parking can be hard depending on what time of day you go in so plan to arrive 5-10 min before your appointment. Also liked that my appointment started on time! I have taken my son here many times (10+)- half the time the cut is great, the other half of the time, not so much- it all depends on the stylist. They have definitely gotten more busy- you use to be able to book an appt for the weekend the day before or even day of- now they are fully booked. They advertise on their website that they "always accept walk ins" or you can call ahead to be put on the list. Not true. We called this morning at 9:30am (30 min after opening) and they said that they were fully booked today and tomorrow. Not great business practice to advertise yourself as a neighborhood walk-in business when that's simply not true. read more

Booked an appointment for my son and I on Memorial Day at 5pm. My son cut his hand and my wife took him to get stitches. I decided to go and get my hair cut anyway. When I explained to the receptionist what had happened she told me that I had to pay a $16 cancellation fee for my son? No mention of any cancellation fees were discussed when we made the appointment only that they needed a CC to hold the appointment. Keep in mind that there was NO one in the shop when I arrived. Never agreed to their policy so they can spend 100s of $ paying someone to attempt to collect my cc dispute when they attempt to charge it. Haircuts are way over priced, they are rude and a total ripoff. Avoid at all costs. There are plenty of other reputable establishments in Franklin. Don't subject yourself to the drama. Don't think they are going to be around much longer anyway with these policies. read more

Please do not ever book an appointment at this place. As you know, this Scouts is located in downtown Franklin where there is very limited parking. It took me several more minutes to get parked and walk over than I expected, and I walked in about 7 minutes after my appointment time (that I booked the day before). I was then told that my appointment had already been cancelled, I was charged a $9 cancellation fee, and that I would have to wait over an hour for the next available appointment. The receptionist was very rude the entire time. When I complained, she told me I would get a call from a manager later about the situation. I never ended up getting a call from anyone. There are many other good barber shops in the downtown Franklin area that I have found so I would recommend any other besides Scouts. read more

Hands down the best haircut, experience, and service I've had in Nashville or Franklin. The staff is always pleasant and the space is very comfortable if you have to wait a few minutes for your appointment. Brooke has been cutting my hair for more than a year now, and I can't say enough about how great she is. She's skilled at her craft and always attentive to details, not to mention that we probably laugh more than we talk during the session. Brooke also went above and beyond in the months leading up to my wedding. She wanted to plan out the timing in advance so she had the opportunity to do a practice cut a month out and then we scheduled the final cut a few days before the ceremony. Open for business! This is my first visit to Scout's as I normally would have my haircut in Nashville. Well, I can honestly attest it was a great experience! Honored to be one of their first customers on May 6, 2020. Online check-in was a breeze, you receive text confirmations, the staff is taking all necessary precautions to keep us & them safe. "Britt" the store manager scissor cut my hair, I received a neck shave & eyebrow trim. Thought I was going to pay $35 for services (a value at that price) but it turned out being only $27. I'm new to the area and have been searching far and wide for a decent haircut at a decent price and this ain't the place. I've given this location several chances and have yet to get a decent men's haircut. This last visit was a complete disaster. The girl who cut my hair, I won't name drop because she's sweet as pie, gave me the worst taper/fade EVER...like worst.cut.EVER. I sat there and watched as she hacked up my hair but didn't have it in me to say anything - I'm not THAT guy. Anyway, I paid + 20% tip and went on my way. When I got home I couldn't believe the haircut I just received and decided to eat the $40 I spent and shaved my head - like BALD BALD! Oh well, hair grows back, me ever going back to Scout's...not so much. read more

Upon arriving at Scout's in Franklin I was greeted promptly and offered a beverage while waiting for Erika J. to finish with her last client, I was a bit early. After introduction pleasantries were exchanged we discussed what I wanted with the haircut, she offered suggestions and we agreed on a strategy. My boyfriend gets his hair cut here on a fairly regular basis. The environment is great and the stylists have always delivered a great haircut and in chair experience. However, it seems whenever we walk in- the front desk is always very quick to tell us it's a short wait. Today we waited nearly 40 minutes. The complaint I have is not the with the wait, but that the expectation was set for a short wait time. We assumed there were appointments ahead of us which is no problem had we been prepared for a substantial wait time. My suggestion- educate the front desk with setting realistic expectations for walk ins. Also- a friendlier greeting would go a long way and make customers feel welcome. read more

Their new system is not working well at all. I had a 3:30 appointment. I starting calling 10 minutes ahead of time per their instructions to check in. Got nothing but fast busy signals. Finally just went over. There are two chairs which both had customers sitting in them. There were also a number of people waiting outside which meant they were probably backed up an hour or more. With appointments spaced every half hour it's hard to understand how that happens. read more

This is the coolest barbershop ever! Love the vibe of this place. It's a bit difficult to find as it's set back between some other cute little shops. Although I didn't get anything, they have complimentary beverages which is a nice touch. Devan gave me the most gorgeous pixie cut. Recently relocated to the area and needed to find a place for a straight razor shave - FOUND IT! A little tricky to fin as it's in the rear of the entry, but I'm glad I did, everyone there was super friendly, this location apparently has only been open a few months and it seems to run like it's been there forever. I was very impressed and will be back - for razor service so felt the pricing was very fair! Lots of other shops in he area, I'm really glad I chose this one! Couple tips - if you want an awesome straight razor shave you do need an appointment for that! Yes, first question is would you like a coffee or a beer, how can you beat that! read more

They don't take appointments, but, you can call ahead and get your name on the list so that you don't have a long wait. The prices: more than fair. Coming from someone who's used to dropping $100 on a haircut, this was fantastic AND they gave me free beer. The people: everyone there was friendly and welcoming, but Stephanie is my girl. Go see her. Do it. I gave her no instruction. I had no idea what I wanted, and I've never had so many compliments on a haircut before! The stuff you can't replace: My friend and I actually came here on a very emotional day. We came in to lose 12 inches a piece in order to have a wig made for a friend with breast cancer. The entire staff was there to listen and cheer us on. Losing that much hair is a pretty big deal. It had been over 4 years since I'd had short hair, and they made it a wonderful experience. I will not ever go to anyone else.
