I've been going to Kendall for several years now, and can't recommend enough! I first started seeing her at Spoke & Weal in LA, where we immediately bonded over both being from Nashville. She gave me some of the best haircuts (and blow outs) I've ever had, so when we coincidentally moved back to Nashville around the same time, I was thrilled to be able to continue seeing her. Her haircuts grow out beautifully (can't tell you how many compliments I get). As someone with thick hair, I love the movement and life she brings to every cut. One of the things I appreciate most is that she just gets it--I never have to explain what I want. She always knows exactly what to do! I had a color correction with Katy after having a disastrous experience at Trim Nulu in Louisville. Katy was so kind and knew what had happened just by looking at my hair. She was able to do an incredible job reducing the brassy tones and bringing back some of the soft blond I typically have. Being able to trust a new color professional is essential. Spoke & Weal is pricey but definitely worth it. The colorists & stylists there know exactly what they're doing and they're great at their jobs. I hate spending money on hair -- inevitably cut or grown out -- as much as the next person, but a solid refresh is absolutely worth the investment. It's so nice to really love a major change in my appearance instead of trying to convince myself into liking it. As a small town Indiana transplant, spoke & weal is comparably priced to similar Indy salons. Local options in South Bend or Bloomington are a bit cheaper but no match for a "city place" like this in terms of quality. Thank you so much Katy, Sabrina, & Ashlyn (plus everyone else!). Zero stars. An absolutely terrible experience. I came to Chase to cut some long fringe...that's it told him I didn't want to loose any length. He suggested I take off like 1/2 inch at the bottom to take off a little unevenness. I agreed he showed me exactly where that was. My hair was past my chest. He did not listen to me and proceeded to cut 7 inches off my hair. It's now to my shoulder. I was so upset I just left with out saying anything. I called the salon but no one even cared enough to get back to me with an apology. My hair is ruined. I had been growing it for years and it was not damaged. The cut itself also has NO SKILL honestly the worst haircut in my life. Not to mention he never even did the fringe in the front he butchered my hair. All I wanted was to feel a little fresh before an event and now I look awful. read more

I have been coming here for 8 months now and I still can't get over how much I love Spoke & Weal. The staff are always amazing and super nice. They're professional, understand the needs of their clientele, and it is a catered experience from the minute you walk in. Since my last review, I changed stylists. In fact, it wasn't long thereafter that I started experiencing Courtney disappearing from the radar both from the shop and communication with me. That did put me in panic mode since I really liked what she had did with my hair. She moved on to different pastures, but Spoke & Weal didn't leave me in a bind. The pointed me in the direction of Victorio. My gosh, the man has a talent. Victorio is as sweet as they come. He is attentive to detail, he works with you on your end goal, he has hands that were given by God. I love his head massages when he washes my hair. It honestly used to stress me out growing my hair out again after shaving it a couple of years ago, but now I do not have that fret anymore. He has done wonders for it and the fact he can relax me makes it all worth the visits. They use Aveda products. I love the shampoos they use. It offers great quality and leaves my hair soft and flowy. Not two words I'd usually use to describe my hair. Victorio's magic hands make it happen! Make fun of me all of you want, but if you want to experience magic, book him for an appointment to see what I mean. There is not a single thing about this place I do not like. The cool vibes, the smooth atmosphere, the genuineness to the people and the integrity of their work is what keeps me coming back. If you have been looking for a salon, look no further. Chelsea did the BEST blonde I've ever been & my hopes weren't super high going in (I figured I'd have to explain more or ask her to tweak it different next time as she "got to know" my hair; I was SO WRONG). Chase cut me & totally understood where I was at (lost a ton of hair when I got sick a year ago & going for more health than anything). I was mesmerized by his process to be honest. I've never walked into a new salon & walked out so thrilled in my life. Blown away. Loved the service style & work ethic of the people I observed here. I had a positively delightful experience having my hair cut yesterday by Chase Rad. My hair looks amazing!!! As I have been receiving precision haircuts once every 6 weeks for the last 50 years (!?!), I *know* what it means to have my hair cut very precisely, and I expect that when I sit down in that chair. It goes without saying that the vast majority of those haircuts have not been fabulous. Some were terrible, most were meh, and several were good. VERY few fell into the Great category. But I can honestly say that Chase gave me the best and most precise haircut I have ever had. He has a wonderful personality and attitude towards life and an amazing technique. I'm older, and my hair has become more thin and sparse as I've aged. Obviously. But as I told him while I was in his chair, the secret to looking youthful as you age is to have a perfect haircut. It's wonderful to wake up and have FUN styling my hair *every* day and feeling self-confident when I walk out my door! I don't have enough good things to say about Chase and Spoke & Weal. Can I just say how blown away I am by this salon and the knowledge of my stylist Victorio. This might have been the best haircut I've ever had. I had to make my appointment last minute and they graciously fit me in. Victorio never made me feel rushed and he took time to educate me on their hair philosophy while giving me the easiest, low-maintenance but fabulous cut I have ever had. I have fine hair and never got into round brushing, products, or blow drying. I don't have time or the artsy skills to ever recreate that salon look. I explained that I wanted fun, effortless hair that I could leave work with and still go out to dinner without looking like the tired, working mom that I am. My non negotiable beauty investment is hair. I will not compromise. I was so stricken with panic when moving to a new town and having to start over, that I "let my hair grow" for an unacceptable length of time. I was a frumpy mess (and I felt it on the inside too!) *hangs head* When it was time to bite the bullet, I chose Spoke & Weal because of their strict dry cutting practices, which means you won't get any surprises which can result from a wet cut to dry hair. When it came to stylists, I chose Sabrina because her Instagram page showcased that she loves to cut curly hair, and since I have wavy hair, I figured she'd be low risk. I like to keep my waves and want a cut that compliments them. I was kind of expecting around the "same" outcome like I've had with my trusted stylist in California, so if Sabrina at least matched that, then it would be a win in my book. She actually exceeded my expectations, and I was floored. I also confessed to her that I usually wash my hair after leaving any salon because hairdressers never know how to style my hair the way I prefer, but Sabrina styled it better than I do, which was HUGE. In addition to being impressed with her skills (she mentioned she likes complex cases, which says a lot about her talent and confidence), she is an absolutely sweetheart and got a few laughs out of me! **This salon keeps your card on file and charges you for other clients services!** I've been here once on a whim and was happy with my service however I will not be coming back. On a random Saturday I received an email with a receipt for a service when I was NOT in the salon. I called them and turns out the client and I had the same first name. Clearly a mistake but I asked to be reassured that I hadn't been charged and they said no I hadn't. I checked my bank app and surely enough, I WAS charged for the other Andrea's service. I then called them back and was told them I had been charged and they apologized and had "refunded me". As I refresh my app, I had been charged a SECOND time by the front desk that clearly didn't know how to run the system. At this point I was furious. When I called and told them they had now charged me twice for another clients service they couldn't figure out how or what to do. All I needed was my money to be refunded. I couldn't comprehend how they didn't 1. Confirm the clients first and last name. 2. How on earth they couldn't confirm the last few digits of their card number or even ask for their card number when checking them out. Completely blows my mind the lack of common sense to double check. It's MY money and I feel completely violated. A week later, I'm still dealing with how they supposedly "refunded me". The manager sent me these "screenshots" of my refund but a week later NOTHING. It's completely absurd to me that this is a "high end" salon that charges hundreds of dollars for a standard hair cut but can't verify information that is so basic and completely infringed on my privacy by keeping a card of mine on file to pay for someone else's service. Kinda pricey but great technical skills and good, friendly service. They have different levels of pricing. I go here knowing I'll get a quality cut from a highly skilled and trained professional. That goes a long way for me. I usually like a personal touch that edgy, experimental and innovative for my hair but that's a vibe that's hard to find most anywhere. I am so happy with Jordan for color. It's hard to change colorists but when you move you have no choice! Jordan was able to replicate the color I had, and was happy with. I was using Goodwell, which is a great color line, but I am so happy to now be using Aveda products. as they are more natural (as natural as hair color can be ;-) read more

My third time in Nashville, second hair salon experience in this city, first time at Seal and Weal. I travel constantly and going to my usual girl is often not an option, so I usually wait it out until I'm in a place I trust. Nashville has treated me so well every time I visit, and is easily on my list of places I trust to get my hair done, among other things. I was lucky enough to score a walk-in appointment after running some errands at the nearby Greenville mall, which is gorgeous by the way. I do so much of my shopping online these days, it was a treat to be able to take care of several errands all in one place before heading to the airport. Back to the hair. My stylist, Sabrina is a hair angel. She asked me so many questions about my hair type, typical routine and what look I was trying to achieve, then gave my her expert opinion which I felt very comfortable trusting since she really went into detail to understand my situation. I have never had someone take so much care and detail in cutting every strand from every angle. She even called over a colorist for a consultation and gave me some great tips to achieve my hair goals, even though I wasn't ready for another color session and they knew I wasn't a local. These people really care and want you to have great hair. The salon just recently opened and was beautiful with a clean and chic design. Lots of nearby parking and other great businesses nearby. I felt awesome leaving the salon and to top it off, had a delicious and healthy lunch downstairs at True Foods. Nashville always leaves me wanting to come back for more, and my experience at S+W was no exception. read more

I made an appointment for my little sister while she and my mom were in town this weekend and while she started to get her consultation for what she wanted to do, my mom and I were offered a complimentary wash, blow dry and style! LIKE WHAT. Yes, twist my arm. On top of that being the kindest gesture ever (and exactly what we both needed that morning), the stylists were SO sweet chatting with my sister and helping her decide what she really wanted to do with her hair, offering her suggestions, asking her questions, showing her styles and providing super helpful tips! Tyler bishop is a blonde god and everyone is Nashville needs to experience his glory! I have tried three salons since moving to Nashville and can't even compare them to Tyler's work on giving me natural looking highlights. If you have curly hair be weary of a dry cut. They're not cutting with the curl pattern so it's very hard to natural dry or wear your hair without tons of styling. I loved that the stylist spent a lot of time listening to what I do with my hair, what I like but with that being said it has taken me 2 cuts from other people and 2 more yet to go of growing out before my hair will be back to its old look and texture. The stylist refunded me after hearing how unhappy I was which is why I gave it 3stars bc it was the right thing to do and I applaud etiquette. I wish I had my old hair back though and do think there should be more careful consideration for people with curly hair. My two other stylists couldn't believe my hair was razored into and they couldn't believe the cut so I know I'm not crazy , but mistakes happen and I really liked the vibe here.
