I don't know about you, but like many, I'm trying to own less stuff. I try to use what I own and not collect stuff for "someday." Throughout the years, I've found that I thought I'd do some cool craft or diy project only to end up storing the supplies for years and years. Enter SCRAP PDX. If you like to reduce, reuse, or recycle, you'll love SCRAP! My first experience with scrap was over 10 years ago when they were located on MLK. Several years ago they moved to a location downtown. It's a cool store. They have a classroom and super cool humans working there - I believe they are all volunteers. They're tagline is "Because creative expression shouldn't break the bank or the environment." Yes please! They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community. I've sent people to SCRAP to donate and to buy. I've taken out-of-town visitors to shop to their hearts content. You never know what you might find, but you can depend on finding lots of art supplies and random collections of things. Today I visited because another volunteer organization that I volunteer for, which has little to no budget, is doing an in person awards event, and just like the Academy Awards, we want our presenters to be able to say "...and the envelope please..." We needed about 2 dozen envelopes. I looked online and found lots of great options at various retailers, some for as little as $8. I spent $2.50 at SCRAP. Some of the cool things I saw during today's visit, lots and lots of various sizes, colors and quantities of gift boxes, lots of buttons, bows, gift bags, lanyards (the kind you hang around your neck that can hold a badge or id card, boxes business size envelopes (other sizes too). There were people shopping for fabric and yarn. I saw shoppers buying frames and scrap-booking supplies. Honestly, there is lots of other random things in various quantities, if you are creative, you'll love it! I highly recommend you visit when you are feeling creative or need some supplies. I also recommend you take people visiting from out of town because most places don't have someplace as cool as SCRAP.

I came here for the first time today and already can't wait to go back. This store is amazing! They have so much to choose from and something for everyone. I ended up coming home with some acrylic paints and metallic and multicolored thread, both of which I am incredibly excited for. I wish it was closer to where I live because it's truly amazing here but at the same time it's probably good they aren't closer because I would end up with a house full of crafting supplies. There is paid street parking and no public restroom. The minimum credit card payment is $3, which isn't hard to hit when there's so much good stuff to choose from. I will absolutely be back many more times in the future!

Amazing place to get materials for craft projects. Great place to donate craft materials too! Located near(ish) Powell's Bookstore

What a fun place to find eco friendly recycled arts and craft supplies! They have everything from used paints to ceramics to office supplies! I wouldn't come in with my heart being set to find anything, but I would totally shop here first before heading someplace else. Do be prepared to dig through the buns to see everything they have to offer, just like digging for gold.

A huge wonderland of donated arts and crafts materials. You wonder why there are hundreds of a certain item and the story behind it. Was just visiting from out of state. It was cool to see the variety of goodies and how well things were really organized! And prices are very good!

You never know what sort of treasures you'll find here (depending on what's been recently donated)!

Weird offerings. Definitely scraps literally. I've been to other reuse places and they have better stuff.

Personally i felt racially profile walking around the store my first time going there. at one point…read morei had a few things in my hand and realized i should go back upfront to grab a basket, which was located by the front doors of the store. as im walking to grab a basket i realize an employee is following closely behind me and was clearly about to say something to me before noticing i was grabbing a basket, not about to steal craft paper and washi tape. she made some comment about how she always grabs more than she can carry aswell and i awkwardly laughed it off. the whole time i was in the store she was always somewhere near me (the store isnt super small so i found that weird). then when i get to checkout, the lady from before is standing at the counter, watching, once of again giving the vibe that she thought i was about to steal (mind u my mother was also with me and purchased something of her own too and that employee was NOT the one checking us out so she truly had no reason to stand there). the entire time i was in the store, this employee was following me & watching me much closer than the other customers. as a POC this is something ive dealt with before but i never expected it to happen in a craft store of all places. i felt extremely uncomfortable and the entire experience made me not want to go back.

I finally was able to check out the 'mother ship'. I've been a steady customer of the Beaverton…read morelocation from it's original location, going back 20 years and was happy when the new Beaverton location opened much closer to my house. I have utilized the Beaverton location for all my framing, custom and non for decades. WOW - this store is so much larger than the one by me and has way more inventory so I am jealous for all my friends who live close by. I now know though that it is worth the drive or that I should drop in here. The name of the store IS Craft Warehouse but I actually rarely buy craft supplies. I happened to be nearby to see a movie and I have been needing to get four different frames for new art. I love wandering through a craft store though. Sometimes I find stuff (who am I kidding...usually I find A LOT of stuff) and sometimes I find ideas. I will say that the Craft Warehouse in Beaverton does seem to have a lot more creative ideas throughout done by employees with the different things they have for sale which I always find super inspiring. I have purchased so many things for home décor here. I have cats so having real indoor plants is rather challenging. Fake succulents are great and Craft Warehouse has some of the best ones at great prices. They have a lot of things I have not found at other craft stores.
