I found an awesome pattern, but the yarn they called for I could only find online, and when I'm making something I like to feel the yarn to make sure it's the texture/softness I'm looking for. When I came into the store I explained my conundrum to the woman who was working there, not knowing what to expect since I was asking about a product they don't carry. Instead of turning me away, she asked the yarn name, pulled up an app on her phone, advised me of its basic details (yards, gauge, etc) and then went on to advise of all the equivalent options I could pick up that would be almost identical.
