Now I'm coming from the Philadelphia area so maybe it's that I'm not used to food portions down south, but I was very surprised at how much food we get for such a great price! You'll see in my photo just how big the Cowboy Crippler is relative to my hand. And I can palm a basketball. Now I'm not a big biscuit guy - yet I'm reviewing a biscuit sandwich so take what I say with a grain of salt. The Crippler itself left me conflicted. The sandwich would have been better with some ketchup as the biscuit is dry. The other ingredients like a hash brown are also not known to be very savory. Also, the sausage patty I personally did not like. It didn't help that it was fried. I would have loved to have a sunny side up egg included in the sandwich to address the dryness. I also got a side of apples which was absolutely delicious. Overall the food was done well. It's just not my preferred meal. Aside from the food everything was fantastic. The service is very friendly and they had pre-filled cups of ice water during the pandemic. I also love that they had covered outdoor seating next door. It made for a beautiful Sunday brunch. Decided to stop at Scratch Biscuit Company based on the number reviews and we are delighted that we did. I had the sausage, egg and cheese biscuit and he had the bacon egg and cheese. The biscuit was very flaky yet moist. Heads up the biscuits are a little spicy but we enjoyed that. I tried the strawberry preserves, and they are a winner. He enjoyed the apple cider and the coffee was good. The reviews are on point. I recommend you stop by and check this place out. read more

Visiting from out of town, Scratch Biscuit was on our must-eat list. I was drawn in by their variety of biscuits, low prices, and delicious sounding add-on sides. When ordering, I was most definitely 'eating with my eyes'. I wanted to order multiple biscuits & wildly over-eat haha. Realizing we had all week to run through the menu, we settled on the Bless Your Heart w/grits & Chicken Biscuit w/scrambled eggs & two coffees. (I settled on the Bless Your Heart because it was one that seemed to come with the most included toppings, I realized while the other biscuits sounded delicious, they were just meat & you would have to add-on toppings or sauces-bleg.) We got the biscuits to-go, so yes parking was frustrating & the place was smaller, but to-go made life easier. The grits were authentic-ly delicious-ground corn marinated in butter to soften, just enough pepper, delightful. The eggs were fluffy, but generic, no impressive seasoning to taste. The biscuit looked delicious, large & flaky...but a major letdown! They were SO BUTTERY eating them made me feel queasy; adding the greasy breading on the fried tomato, the overabundance of chipotle sauce, it was a very sickly sweet meal. I found myself taking sips of my dark coffee in between to reduce the sweetness. Food & Price (4/5): We got the Cotton Hammer Biscuit and the Chicken Biscuit. They were pretty good. Cotton Hammer Biscuit's biscuit was a bit dry so the white sauce on it helped to fix that. The Chicken Biscuit was simple: seasoned fried chicken between biscuits. Wish there were more weird sandwich options; they were all very basic. The sandwiches were about $7 or $8. They were filling but not too filling. Parking (1/5): Parking is almost non-existent. We had to park in the restaurant next door's parking lot and hope we wouldn't get towed. Wait & Seating (3/5): There was a long line when we went. We didn't mind that, but we wished their menus were at the door so we could have a physical copy of the menu while we waited in line. We pulled up their menu on our phones but it was a bit confusing since I didn't know if we could build our own sandwich or if they were pre-done. When we got the physical copy at the register, we saw that they were pre-done. I'm the father of Jule G, highjacking her Yelp account for the sake of simplicity. We're in town for two nights, and discovered this little treasure of a place. The texture of the biscuits is perfect. I got a country ham and egg biscuit, and my other family members got the chicken biscuit, the spicy chicken biscuit, and a sausage and egg biscuit. I've been coming here on and off for the last 3 years and never have been disappointed. I actually had the best meal of 2017 one Sunday brunch (see pic!). They made a cheesy shrimp and grits with an egg on it. The chef was even nice enough to sneak a couple pieces of pulled pork under the egg. Everything else I've had here is good. This restaurant was a bit too chaotic for me personally. They have very limited parking behind the restaurant and the inside dining area is small as well. The inside was packed when we arrived and discovered that people need to grab a seat/table on a first come first serve basis. During the rush, this led to people scrambling to claim tables as soon as people were standing to put on their jackets. To order, you need to walk up to the register and pay. The food came out decently quickly (5-10 minutes) but the food we got was dry and the biscuits were falling apart to the touch. We had to go to Roanoke this morning and after my appointment we looked for a place to have breakfast. Saw the Scratch Biscuit on the map and decided to try it. What I got was eggs cooked like an omelette and then chopped into a pile of cooked eggs, not scrambled. It's not that they were bad. I wouldn't call them "scrambled". Next was the sausage. It was more like a plant based sausage. Definately not what I would usually eat. The tomatoes were fine. Next were the biscuits. The biscuits were ok but I've had better at Bojangels. My wife had a biscuit sandwich with ham and egg. Same story for the eggs here. More of a chopped omelette. I asked if they had jelly and the first thing i was told was that it would cost extra. Seriously? He said it was "homemade" and a tiny container was $1. I think that is nonsense. Overall the food was meh, the service was great, the atmosphere was good. I came here after a long and strenuous hike with some friends. We think we've earned it so we dive head forward into sweet tea and I get the Nashville Hot chicken biscuit! Large and plump chicken overflows a fluffy, moist and butter-tastic biscuit. Hot oil coats the paper wrapping and stains the to-go bag; which is a sign of what makes an excellent biscuit sandwich! There are outside seats available 6 feet apart and a roll of paper towels and hand sanitizer so everyone can feel safe as they begin gorging themselves. The hot chicken had just the right level of heat and the crunch of the chicken matched the crispy snap of the outside of the biscuit before relenting to the fluffy inside! I'm a big guy and I was tapped out after one sandwich!! One of my friends got the "Crippler" which is a double-sized biscuit with sausage patties, brisket/pulled pork and hash-browns! Proof of life, a week later, he's still alive...some how! As the wobbles started to kick in I was tempted to take one more for the road (cause, there were so many other options to try) but this places closes by 2pm. Repeat...closes by 2pm!!
