Ok, this place was SO COOL! It's three different stores, all filled with everything horror. From terrifying masks to horrific decorations to decorate your lawn with, this store has everything. The workers were extremely kind and helped me find anything that I was looking for. I have to be honest, I was scared because so many animatronics looked so real, that I let loose a few screams. I can think of about a million reasons to never shop here. I will try and keep it simple with my top few. First of all, everything is at least 60% cheaper online. The markup is outrageous. It is pricing like this that makes no one shop at brick and mortar stores anymore. I expect a price hike when I am doing phyical shopping, but this is beyond unreasonable. Second, zero return or exchange policy. In 2025, when everyone else lets you return or exchange. I imagine the day that the consumer advococy group was defunded was the best day of this owners life. It does not matter if you have the most tragic circumstances ever and the money you spent here is going to save the life of a child. Zero exceptions. Third, and this one is so unbelievable I almost don't want to mention it, as I don't want to lose credibility. It happened though, so I must report it. The very reason I am writing this review. Bought a costume, got it in the door and started taking a look at it. It was pretty cheaply made for a $100 dollar costume, but this did not surprise me. What surprised me was THE BEDBUG EGGS AND LIVE BEDBUGS IN THE COSTUME BAG! Seriously people, stay as far away from this place as you possibly can. read more

This is a great store for Halloween costumes and accessories. They have a wide selection, from pirate to movie to historical characters. They also have lots of accessories (including steampunk). There are fitting rooms and mirrors so that you can try on the costumes. Best of all, even during their busy time of year, staff is abundant in the aisles and happy to help. I LOVE that they are woman-owned, and a small business that's open all year. Nice selection, too. Sadly, the staff is consistently rude. I've found them to be impatient, quick to cop an attitude, and there are edgy vibes like they suspect everyone of stealing. Maybe they just don't like you and would rather be somewhere else, I don't know. It just gets old quick and leaves the customer feeling unwelcome and unimportant. I needed a few items that weren't already a part of my wardrobe and after checking on Yelp, Screamers seemed like the logical place to visit. Since I already know the area well, it was easy to find their store. Located just north of 15 Mile and Gratiot, on the west side of the road in the Regional Shopping Center, finding ample parking was a breeze. Once I entered the store, I was thrilled to see so many items on display. This is no Party in the City, strictly costumes and accessories here. I started toward the back, walking along one of the aisles, marveling at everything. I suppose a person could find any sort of scary mask, or an action character from comic books, to fairy tale figures. The gal stocking the back shelves asked if I needed assistance and was most helpful. She showed me right where I might find what I was looking for, and soon thereafter I was headed to the cash register with $33 worth of stuff. The cashier rang me up, included a business card with my receipt and out the door I went. I couldn't have been there more than 10 minutes. Pleasant employees! read more

The whole experience was amazing. The store is packed full of awesome memorabilia, costumes, and collectibles. The staff was really polite and helpful. They gave me a great deal on another figure and didn't sell me a faulty one. One of the best experiences I've had at one of these shops and would recommend to any horror fanatic to stop by. Now that Lauer Costume shop is closed, Screamers is the only independent costume shop in the area. I can see how the Halloween USA mega-stores would be appealing. But before you go to one of those, come here first. They have the largest selection of masks I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot; I used to work for Party City, and they can have quite a selection too. But I digress. Screamers has a large selection, but what's great about it is the selection is unique. If you want something other than that same old witch costume, this is the place to look. I wanted something special for an art project; just a plain white plastic face mask. They had more than a few styles, and maybe 40 different masks of the same kind in various colors/designs. Wow! At the time, I'd went to Party City, Halloween USA, and others... and didn't find what I was looking for. I went to Screamers and was out the door with what I wanted in five minutes! Either it was the selection or the staff's help, but either way, when my daughter's old enough to trick or treat, I'll bring her here. They have a good selection of theatrical make-up, and a great selection of masks. However, the lady who works there was horrible at customer service. I was the only one in the store, and it felt like she just wanted me to leave. I want to support them, but that lady almost made me want to buy exclusively online. Then there was one time I went in and the customer service was EXCELLENT. There was a tall guy with dark hair. He's the best. I never do these reviews but I felt it necessary after the experience I had at this store today. I work in customer service and boy do I feel pretty motivated after what happened to be sure they hear loud and clear how I feel about my experience in their store. I called right after I left the store to ask to speak to the manager, but lo and behold...the person who gave me such terrible service is the manager. How sad. I believe I overheard from another worker that her name was Lisa, but I'm not completely positive. I drove well over an hour to Screamers because there isn't a store by me that carries a particular theatrical makeup brand I was looking for. I had high hopes for this place, as it's been around for a long time. I am part of a large theatre circuit and was excited for the prospect of this kind of store which caters to the kinds of thing I need that you can't find other places short of online. When I got into the store and was looking at the makeup in the big glass case, a female worker came over to me immediately and asked if she could help me. That was the most polite thing she did. The kind of makeup I was looking into getting isn't cheap by any means, and I've never used this particular style before so I was trying to make a decision while the saleswoman stood there and pressured me. As she stood there looking extremely put out and irritated by my presence she continually asked me "so do you want this? Which one do you want? Are you going to get this?" She must have asked me 4 times in a span of 7 minutes. Nothing like letting someone make a decision. It made me pretty uncomfortable, like I wasn't allowed to think it over and weigh out my options because I was holding her up or something. I was also interested in a wig (one star goes to the store because they do have a very large and nice selection of quality wigs available) and I asked the woman if I could take a look at one that happened to be on the top shelf out of reach without a ladder. Her immediate response is "do you want to buy it?" and walked over to get the ladder with a scowl and a huff. At this point I am beyond irritated by her attitude so I respond "uh, I'd like to take a look at it first if could." I mean, wow! Talk about rude! Such a shame. I tried on a wig I really really liked and would have bought, but I deliberately chose not to because they didn't deserve my business. Unfortunately, I had to buy the makeup because of a time crunch, but I much rather would have bought it from anyone else. I must add I think I may have been the only other person in the store, so it's not like there was a huge line of people waiting to be helped and I was holding everyone up. Yes, the selection of items in the store seemed quite large, although I didn't stay and peruse the store as I had intended because I really was so put off by the poor customer service. Too bad for them, I could have easily spent a lot of money there today. I will not be returning to Screamers. They will not get any recommendation to my large circle of theatre colleagues other than to stay away and take their business elsewhere. I do hope Screamers gets a chance to see this and that it rings loud and clear that this is not the way you treat your customers. read more

I wish it was a tad bigger and sold more decoration related stuff but I also don't want it turning into the poor quality stuff Spirit Halloween sells. The go to place for all your make up and costume needs. They're open year round which works great for holidays and other themed parties I might attend. Huge make up selection. And a great place for mask collectors, never seen a better selection of masks. BUYER BEWARE! My son used his birthday money to buy a $30 costume here. It had no stopper on the zipper, which ran the entire back of the costume, and after the second zip... came off. Renee the manager would not give us an exchange, since I had mentioned he wore the costume. We had to spend $25 to have a tailor fix it ... and we barely got it back in time for Halloween. Checked around for a costume shop featuring theatrical make up beyond what Party city or Sprit Halloween would have. Went to the store on 15 and Gratiot . Was pleased at first to find a reasonable assortment of make up and accessories although a bit pricey and staff seemed some what reluctant to really help, more as an obligation rather than good service. Any way purchased a small bag of items I needed at the cost of over $60.00. Two days later, after finding out that the event I bought the make up for was cancelled, I I took back the unopened products back for a refund, at which time was told there were no refunds or exchanges. There was a small sign stuck to the side of one of the counters ,but not in a way customers (if never being there before) would readily see. So, this being said , I was out over $60.00 with no recourse but to reflect on my poor judgment of the business with poor business practices. Trust me not worth ever going there for anything. My advice, shop on line but NOT AT SCREAMERS!!!!!! read more

I needed fairy wings in the middle of November, and they had them! They have a pretty good selection of costume items, including wigs and accessories. The service wasn't great, but the clerk showed me to their selection of wings, and she rang me up quickly. She just didn't seem very enthusiastic about having to work on a Saturday afternoon. I absolutely LOVE this store. They have a tremendous selection of masks, wigs, costumes, make up & more accessories than you can imagine. I am amazed at the mass amount of stock they have. I have saved so much time getting everything I need under one roof. I've tried shopping at other stores & always wind up right back here because no one else has all that I'm looking for. They have a wide variety of prices. What's even better is that even their most inexpensive costumes are not cheaply made garbage, like some places I won't mention. Their premium costumes are top quality & worth every penny. My daughter has gotten everything she's needed for her Youmacon costumes here. She wears multiple costumes each day of the convention & has been attending it for years so to say we've made a few trips to this store is a severe understatement. Supporting a local small business is very important to me. I don't want to my money going to the megastores with their mass produced inferior products and limited selections. I like going to a store where this is what they do everyday of the year, they know their products & they care that I get what I want.
