We stumbled upon this brewery while driving by and decided to give it a try. The brewery is very spacious, with plenty of natural light and lots of seating both indoors and on the patio, making it a great place to relax. We started with a couple of beer tastings and ended up choosing the Mexican Amber "Ortega." It was incredibly refreshing and definitely our favorite. Screwbean is a great little place that's good for hanging out solo or meeting up with others. I've been there with just one other person, a group, and all by myself for different purposes. It's small, but I've always been able to find a seat. It's quiet enough that you can have conversations. The outdoor seating area is lovely as well. There are multiple types of drink options as well as snacks available that change just depending on what's there. The location is very convenient to a lot of things, so it's easy to walk to if you're in the neighborhood. Staff folks have always been friendly with me and since I'm someone who likes to ask a lot of questions about ingredients of things, I tend to notice when someone is helpful vs. annoyed. Stopped by Tuesday at 4pm. The place was quiet. I sat inside and had two different beers: a mellow Octoberfest (5.9% ABV) and an Ortega Mexican Lager at 5.8% ABV. Both had nice body I like this corner brew place for its quiet ambiancce. There is only one tv and it is at the bar. Background music is low. I really liked this spot! I have a variety of drinks, some snack options, including fresh pastries, fast Wi-Fi, and plenty of seating both inside and out. The patio has a huge tree over it with provide some shade for their patio seating. My friend got an energy drink for just $4 and I got the mango refresher drink for $7. Both were amazing! (I did tell the cashier that I wanted my mango drink more on the sweeter side since I had lime and I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be tart). We did some remote work here for a couple of hours and I also got a chocolate chip muffin. It was from there one day old section, thus it was 50% off unfortunately it was pretty dry, but I will have to try more of their bakery items to see if maybe it was maybe just that one. Parking is tough as it's street parking, but also close to campus so much of the street parking demands a permit. It's not impossible though. I'll definitely be back! read more

After finding out about Screwbean Brewing on the Tucson Foodie, I had high aspirations of their products and it did not disappoint. The barista was friendly and the place was clean. I had a latte which was very good. I also ordered a four-pack of their In the Shade hazy IPA which is decent. The highlight was the sample of the blueberry pie sour. While I've only visited Screwbean a handful of times, each time has been pleasantly enjoyable. Although I don't drink coffee anymore, I did have the opportunity to try Americano with lavender syrup that was housemade and it was delish!!!! They use coffee beans from a Phoenix based company I've enjoyed before, still so great. Outside of that I've visited for dinner and they now have local food truck (which is 100% vegan) Substance Diner. It's classic diner food and all made fresh to order, really yummy. As someone who doesn't consume alcohol, I love when places offer mocktails and Screwbean has cleverly crafted mocktails to enjoy. The cutest space for working remotely! They have a great large patio up front with street parking. Inside there is plenty of seating and bar seating too. They have a great selection of local pastries from Cafe Francais! They have coffee, tea and drum roll -- BEER! Screwbean Brewing is going to be an awesome addition to the community, they're just running a soft opening this week with a limited coffee menu and I can't wait to see what this place becomes. After seeing the space before it was renovated, I was excited to see what was new and hoped they kept the best of the past. With vaulted wood ceilings, polished cement floors, and colorful tile behind the coffee bar it's a fun space to hang out or do some work. Their patio is shaded by beautiful mesquite trees, offering protection from the Tucson sun. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon to enjoy some drinks & patio weather! They have a nice menu of offerings (both coffee, brews, and specialty drinks) with something for everyone! There is plenty of street parking in the surrounding area/neighborhood. The barista/bartender was very friendly and helped me narrow down my options, and I landed on a mango sour to enjoy there and a latte to go! They have plenty of seating options inside and outside, and the chill vibe makes this a great spot to read/work or savor sips while catching up with a friend! Tried to order a beer with my out of state vertical ID that doesn't expire until 2029 and was refused with the worker citing a "law" that you can't use a vertical ID to purchase alcohol 3 months after your birthday. Cool spot that's well designed for an almost 100 year old building. The beers are pretty good. I was suprised to hear they have lager capabilities due to the longer fermentation time and colder conditions on a 7 barrel brew system and fermenters. The service was friendly and fast. They're a new company so they don't have everything set up, but they're working to get there. They're partnering with a lot of cool food trucks. I ran into the folks from Black Market BBQ that came in to talk to the owner about setting up there. Got to see their brewery area and it's clean. They're following good storage practices with their barley. Cool to see they offer feminine hygiene products in their restrooms. read more

So on a recommendation from a friend, I stopped into this quaint little coffee shop/ brewery tucked away on Park Ave just off of Broadway. The place is small but well appointed, a few tables, a couple of comfy cushioned chairs, and a small bar. I was there for the beer, of which they currently have 4 of their own brews on tap. So I bellied up to the bar and started my journey into their brews with an Amber Ale. Though a tad sweet, it was pretty good, and quite crushable. Next up was the Italian Lager which was the best of the bunch, it was delicious! Next up was the Lemon Blonde, quite tasty and a refreshing beer for a hot AZ afternoon. And finally the Hazy IPA which was pretty good although I'm not a fan of the style! Service was good as well, I also met the GM, Owner, and Brewer, all whom were very nice and personable! I also got a tour of the brew house, which was fun and interesting! I recommend this place if you're in the area, not a coffee person, but the coffee drinks looked good, and they also have wine! There's a lot to like about this new coffee shop. First of all it has a pretty cool environment, from the outside to the inside. There is a few enclosed patio areas that you can chill at under the shady trees. The inside has a really cool vibe, with exposed wood beams at the ceilings, a nice sofa, barstool tables/seats near the windows and plenty of regular tables too. Great place to hang out or pullout the laptop to study or work. Speaking of ambiance, whoever was in charge of music while I was there had great taste. Volume was just right to not interfere with studying or concentration, but still could enjoying the jams if I wanted to pay attention. The overall concept appears to be coffee and craft beer, possibly wine (thinking about the name of the shop). I had a cold brew and a cheese danish which both were great. Also the staff were friendly, and no detectable attitudes. Great place and will definitely be back! read more

Stopped in this morning as they are currently open for coffee and pastries. We were warmly, welcomed immediately upon entering the building and swiftly guided through the pastry options. The interior is light and open. A place you can relax and enjoy with friends or on your own. We selected a ham & Gruyère croissant and two drip coffees. The croissant was flavorful and light with a hint of Gruyère in each bit yet it was light on ham. The coffee is a mild roast which might appeal to the masses however at $4 for 12oz and $4.75 for 16oz with no refill options it won't be one of our 'go to' coffee stops. We did enjoy sitting in the shade of the tree on the patio and, while there was a bit of traffic, we still enjoyed the sounds of the birds. I've only been to Screwbean once since it opened, but I can already tell I'll be a regular. The dining room is brought and open with plenty of seating. There are also a ton of non-coffee options for those of us who don't partake. I had a delicious lavender mint iced tea and am exited to try some of the flavored seltzers. They had a nice selection of pastries and other snacks, including ceviche and salsa from Queen Ceviche and popcorn from Popped. I've been anxiously awaiting the opening of Screwbean Brewing and I was excited to stop in for their "super soft" opening today. As a self-professed coffee shop connoisseur I already have a good feeling about this spot. The previous occupants of the space (RIP Good Eye Living) really opened up the space and the Screwbean team have ushered it through to it's final bright, airy and modern state. The coffee is great. They use high quality milk alternative brands which I appreciate and service was efficient but friendly. Full forgiveness granted for store bought pastries since they were very clear this is a soft opening but I was told they'll be carrying local vendors soon so I'll be keeping an eye out for that. Still to come is the beer portion of the product lineup but there is plenty of seating inside and outside (bring your pups!) so there's good reason to come by soon and enjoy the space now. read more
