My husband and I just saw the play "Stew." It was powerful, funny and emotional. I definitely recommend it.

As soon as we got there, there was no introduction no review of rules or expectations. They brought all the kids in this small room with shiny equipment and they had no plan as to what they were going to do for the time. It was so chaotic and unorganized. The teacher had little to no energy and clueless as to how to grab little one's attention and then the manager walked in pissed off and was so unprofessional I would not trust my kids with them. It's such a shame because the place is actually really nice. We got to great pictures at least! Too bad they missed out on 3 student's enrollment.

He has always had a passion for music and the SOR family has helped him really learn and grow. Everyone from the owner, staff, instructors, and students are great. They really care about their students, music, culture, and overall community. SOR Scripps Ranch provides a safe, welcoming, caring environment for all their students. The opportunities available to the students over the years we have been there have been amazing. They have even performed at such iconic places as the Whiskey a Go-Go in LA, House of Blues in Anaheim, and the Hard Rock Café on the strip in Las Vegas to name a few. Steve and the staff have had a huge part in preparing our son for his college auditions and interviews. Programs such as House Band really helps prepare these young musicians for their future. The show groups are great as well, there is a real sense of teamwork between the instructors and students. It can be nerve racking for most to get up in front of a group of people (large or small) and not only perform but to answer questions being thrown your way. So thankful for everyone at School of Rock Scripps Ranch and proud to be part of the SOR family.

There's literally NO bad seat in this intimate theater. I'm not exaggerating. While the balcony seats at the downtown Civic Theatre might leave you squinting at tiny figures at premium prices, here I felt like I was practically part of the show regardless of where I sat. And at these super reasonable prices? It's almost criminal how much value you're getting. Walking into their production of "Hello, Dolly!" I was immediately struck by how the modest stage might compare to larger Broadway venues. This is a place where size absolutely doesn't matter here. The creative team masterfully used every square inch of that space, with choreography that had me wondering how they fit so much spectacular dancing into such a cozy setting. Those dancers deserve medals for their spatial awareness alone! What truly sets SDMT apart is the caliber of talent they attract. This isn't just "good for local theater"--these are performers who deliver professional-quality entertainment that had me smiling from the opening number to the final bow. The acting was so engaging that I completely forgot there wasn't a traditional orchestra. Did I miss it? Not for a second. The performers commanded the space so completely that any potential limitations simply vanished. While here are no actual curtains, it didn't detract from the experience, this adds to the intimate, immersive quality that makes this theater special. You're not just watching a show, you're part of its world from the moment you take your seat. For North County residents, this place is a revelation. The easy drive and FREE parking situation (though come early, as spaces are limited and you might need to street park) makes this infinitely more accessible than the downtown venue. No parking fees, no traffic nightmares, just straight to the entertainment. Walking out after the show, I found myself repeating "wow, wow, wow" like a happy theater mantra. I'm already excited for their next production.

I attended with young kids expecting a fun, family-friendly show, but it was completely inappropriate for minors. While the acrobats are clearly talented and skilled, the costumes worn by some of the female performers were extremely revealing -- basically resembling underwear. There were multiple performances with wide leg movements and positions that exposed far more than what children should be seeing. This is not something kids should be exposed to, and there was absolutely no warning about this type of content. Because of this, we ended up leaving halfway through the show. On top of that, the performance itself was boring and not engaging. It definitely did not feel worth the high ticket prices. To make matters worse, the person who sold us the tickets had a rude attitude, and the overall customer service was not welcoming at all. Zero recommendation from me. Completely disappointed and honestly upset that I brought children to what was supposed to be a family event.

Thank you, Circus Vargas, for an unforgettable experience.

When we first joined, we weren't even looking for ballet. Our daughters enjoyed trying different styles like tap, Broadway jazz, and hip hop before finally deciding to try ballet - which they quickly fell in love with. One of the highlights of every year is the Nutcracker production. I love that even the youngest dancers get meaningful roles they are excited about. My daughters have so much fun participating and look forward to it year after year. What stands out most about 4S Dance is the culture. The older dancers are kind, welcoming, and encouraging to the younger students, creating a supportive environment that feels like a true community. I also appreciate the emphasis on age-appropriate choreography and costumes. We are so grateful to be part of the 4S Dance community and highly recommend it!

Still a wonderfully nurturing dance studio with immensely patient and dedicated teachers and staff…read more It's been 9 years, and the studio has grown in space and homegrown talent, which is evident in the ambitious goals the studio successfully executes each year. This is a ballet-based studio with a growing musical theater program, and fun recreational/non-competitive class offerings in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop and even pilates reformer. The ballet side includes a pre-pro program that is intended to nurture students with professional dance aspirations or just want to be in "club level" ballet (i.e. your young 9 year old kid will be there 2-3 times a week and your 12/13+ tween will be there 4/5 times a week multiple hours a day. Dancers participating in shows will have Saturday rehearsals). The AD has an annual assessment (for pre-pro students) to assess goals and steps needed to achieve them. Recently, many of these students have been invited to well known ballet SIs, including PNB, PBT, SAB, and ABT. The AD further supports their school/ballet balance and many of the pre-pro dancers have been waived out of PE through OCIS (Off Campus Independent Study). Annually, the staff presents "the Nutcracker" where all roles (except 1-2 adult male roles, which are professionally filled) are casted by their classically trained students. Over the last 3 years, they've also presented a shorter storybook ballet of similar caliber. Every year we've been here, there has been an end of year recital series, which is the main opportunity for the non-ballet students to present what they've learned in choreographed pieces. The studio has grown to include a musical theater program, which also provides opportunities to shine in "Mini Musicals". Yes, the hallways can be a little "extra", but that's what happens when students love the place so much that they are there for multiple classes in the afternoons, and on rehearsal weekends. And yes, dance can be pricey, but my experience is that the rec level classes are comparable to any other rec level activity my other kid has done with *professional* teachers, it's obviously more expensive than little league or soccer which are volunteer coached. Further, pricing is on a tiered structure, where "the more classes you take, the cheaper your 5th, 6th, 7th, etc class is." And yes - sounds nuts, but many of the pre-pro kids love it there enough that they're there for that many classes. Lastly, I didn't realize how grateful I am for this until my daughter got older, but the owners refuse to allow revealing costumes and uniforms. You'll find the students in leotards/tights, athleisure wear, and tasteful recital costumes - not a booty short or bra/crop top in sight, as I wish dance culture would be. Overall, a great place to be for those with professional ballet aspirations (and who want to be challenged appropriately), or who want to learn other styles for enjoyment without the expectation to compete.
