I have been waiting for over a week for a review of appraisal after my new house that is done with construction was appraised for 50k under the sale price by my builder. This companies inexperienced appraisers compared my brand new house to 3 other houses in the area that are over 15 years old. Of course there is going to be a price difference when you are comparing my new house to houses that are over decade old, houses that need to be gutted and remodeled, houses that have tile countertops and vinyl floors. Then you have the gull to delay your review of appraisal to over a week! This company has no business giving appraisals. read more

We had been watching the condo market on South Padre Island every day for months. We knew the condos were selling for over list value, and listings were going "pending" (accepted offer) within a few days of listing. We placed an offer on a condo on 2/11, the day after it hit the market (along with 5 other offers that day). Our offer was accepted. Unfortunately, our lender chose Scroggin Appraisal. They visited the condo on 2/26 for their service. We did not get an appraisal report until 3/9! And their appraisal was $39,000 below the list price! We immediately filed a dispute, and our realtor, Liz De La Fuenta (she is awesome!) had the comps needs for the dispute at the lender within a couple of hours. We called and E-mailed every single day, as the seller needed to close. On 3/16, the seller refused to give another extension, and we had to cancel the loan request. Finally, on 3/22, 6 days too late, Scroggin replied to our dispute. Apparently, they had a trainee do our appraisal! Too late, a real appraiser gave the value an increase of $15,000. That wouldn't have helped anyway, still being $24,000 below list price. And guess what! The condo sold for $7,000 over list price!! To someone else, of course, thanks to the incompetence of Scroggin Appraisal. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. While working with our lender to secure the financing for our new home. Sadly our project was picked up by Scroggin appraisal services to complete the appraisal of our home. The scheduling of the appraisal took forever but we understood, work is backed up at this time and we were patient. Finally they assigned the person that was to complete the appraisal. This gentleman kept calling us asking details about the house, he didnt seem knowledgeable about what hr was doing which raised concerns about him actually being an appraiser. We had to get in touch with our lender to verify the legitimacy of this person. We had a bad feeling about him. He didnt seem to know what he was doing. We were right. This person appraised our home for almost 50k lower that the actual cost. We know face the possibility of not securing financing. We have submitted an appraisal evaluation that we have not heard back from for over a week. We want to obtain a new appraisal from another company but we have to wait for this incompetent company to submit the re-evaluation. We personally called the office to speak to a manager and the very rude Secretary would not allow us to. Disappointing would be an understatement to describe this company. Having the misfortune to deal with them has been a nightmare. They incompetence and unprofessionalism is not something I would recommend to anyone. If you're assigned to this company...RUN. Request a different appraisal company. read more
