I am shocked at all the negative reviews of Scully Statewide Moving. They moved me into an apartment ten years ago and were excellent. The estimate and actual cost was the same. Today Alex, Mike and Tony moved me from that apartment into my new house. I never hesitated to call Scully again for this move. I didn't call around for estimates. The estimate was spot on. These movers were so friendly, funny and extremely efficient. They went above and beyond to help me get as many items moved as possible. I was going to move some of the smaller (but still heavy) items myself, but they suggested I quick pack up some of those items and they would take them to the house for me. These guys were so helpful! Tony went as far as putting the legs on my new TV and getting me started on setting it up. I realize time is money, but my estimate was extremely close to my end price, so I don't feel they were taking advantage and trying to jack up the price by offering these small extras. When I contacted Scully regarding my concerns I never got a call back from the manager. When I reached out to the owner, he would not listen, just interrupted constantly. Recently, we moved from a large house in Canonsburg Two separate residences after our divorce. We were very organized inCommunicating which items went with which person.ScullyDid a successful transfer of items to my ex-wives home, while missing several important pieces to my new apartment. After I called to mention the items missing they were clearly labeled for me, Scully movers called my ex Claiming I accused the company of stealing from us. My review of Scully remains. Do not use them! I wish I had read the other reviews on Yelp. My friend who recommended them finally told me they lost the pendulum to her Mother's grandfather clock. "Duke" finally went over and found it. Her mother was moving from an apartment to another- not many items to deal with. If I had known this, I never would have used them!I finally filled a police report and was admonished for not filling it sooner. Our items were packed up and put into storage before we put our house on the market. I don't know how they store customer items but they don't do it well! So much of our stuff went missing. I found some of my antique light fixtures for sale at Bridge Street Electric!!!!! I lost my art supplies, artwork and many other items. I thought I put my name on all the boxes! I cannot believe how sloppy and uncaring they are. I spoke with the "boss" and he blew me off. We also used them to move our remaining furniture and personal items when we sold our house and moved into our new house. For some reason it took two days and was over the weekend! More items disappeared! I am going to attach pictures of the sculpted that were stolen. You don't need to see photos of the artist items I lost like acid free sprays and paper. read more

This company advertises that it "specialize[s] in senior moves," has a "dependable professional team," and are "flexible to our client's needs." I find those claims to have failed in relation to the two times I hired them. I should have learned from using Scully in June to move my elderly parents into a facility that the company was unprofessional and ill-prepared as movers when the truck and two movers were sent without moving blankets and appropriate dollies. Eventually, a third mover arrived who was brand-new to the company and was just learning. The entire move took far longer, per the two initial movers, because they were not sent with the necessary equipment and supplies. Of course, there was no price adjustment for it taking so much longer due to the fault of the company. I made the mistake of hiring them again a couple of weeks ago, also for a move for my parents from one facility to another. Due to the fact that the facility had not done a good job of cleaning from the apartment floor some thin, smears of dried human waste, the two, young movers were complaining they did not want to do the move. They did not point out any waste on any furniture, even when I asked them to show me. In front of them, a housekeeper for the facility misted a bleach sanitizer throughout the entire apartment, which covered all surfaces. She offered them gloves. I offered to move the furniture into the hallway for them to move so they didn't have to go into the apartment, despite the fact that the dried material on the floor would not have attached to the bottom of their shoes. They said "no" to all offers. They indicated they had to go to their truck to call their boss to make a final determination as to whether they would make the move and would let me know. They never came back. I found the truck was gone with no word from the movers. I called the office where I was connected to the owner, Pat, who was rude and uncooperative. He admitted he told the movers to just leave without talking with me so they didn't have to deal with any "issues," whatever that was supposed to mean. He refused to tell me where any waste was found on furniture. They completely left my parents and me with a move that needed to be made, but no mechanism for making it. Fortunately, I was able to find other movers who came soon after Scully abandoned me, and the new movers had no issues with the condition of the apartment. They made the move and all went well. I will never recommend Scully to anyone and would have given them zero stars if that was a Yelp option. read more

I hires this company on a recommendation. Their estimator came out to my 1 bedroom apartment and viewed everything I had to move 6 miles to another similar retirement facility. He gave me a quote of $745 for 2 people tto move me in 5 hours. On moving day 3 people show up and supposedly a 4th person ( I didn't see) was there. After moving my goods to the new place, I was given a bill for $1568.50, over twice the estimate. Their comment was that it took more people and time to move me than the estimator said. My son attempted to contact the owner, as well as the estimator, but no callback. a week later once my son had paid the bill on moving day, they sent a note of thank you with the invoice for$1568.50. I disputed the cost and have not heard from the company. This company did not come close to their estimate, twice the amount is not acceptable. read more

This is referencing a move from 2016. Cheaper quote than competitors, nice people (both in the office and the movers). However, this was not a professional operation. They were hired both for a move and unpacking. We were told 4 people would assist in unpacking; however, only two remained to unpack after the move, and one of those left after an hour. The remaining individual was herself only able to stay for several more hours. The unpacking job was left half finished. There is no excuse for this. Additionally, several small items were broken during the move. We reported this along with their estimated value, but were never reimbursed. This is a minor issue, but does again reflect poorly on the quality of their service. read more

Service was excellent...on time and well equipped. Moving from one house to another about 20 miles away.... there was a TON of furniture and equipment....and it was a VERY HOT day. Nice people, on time. However they lost quite a bit of our stuff. We lost most kitchen items like all dishes, silverware, wall framed photos. I lost all my clothes and other items. We sold our East Grand Rapids home, retired to Florida, but later purchased a condo in G. R. to return to the area in spring and summer. We used Scully Statewide to store items until we returned. I contacted them several times, no response. I drove to their location on West River Dr and found one framed wall photo of ours. Then they took me to the 5th st storage building to see if the items were in our storage area. Nothing there. So, they had our items spread over both locations. We have been here in G. R. since early April. The Co has not contacted me concerning our loss. Getting a bit fed up. Would not use this Co again. I will try to find out who their insurance Co is and file a claim. The crew from Scully's came in packed us the days before the move. The ladies were great, friendly towards our toddler that kept running around. The guys came the next day, loaded our belongings with no issues. Not a supper chatty crew but they came there to get work done and did exactly that. First, let me just say that all of this happened between the OWNER of this company and me, a paying customer. The "conversation" we had left me shocked and shaking. I've never experienced anything like it. I would 100% recommend taking your business elsewhere if you enjoy being treated with any respect whatsoever. The only redeeming quality of the experience was that the drivers who eventually came were great and very respectful. I hired this company to move a vending machine I own from 1 location to another. They had to postpone our move by a few days when the truck broke down, which I was very understanding of. We rescheduled for a few days later and were told "somewhere around 1 and 2." The day of the move it snowed (we do live in Michigan), so my husband decided to call in the morning to see if we could get a more accurate guess on the timing just in case the weather put them behind at all. He got in touch with Pat, the owner, and was basically brushed off and told he didn't know what time and he'd call back later that morning. He never called, which we've become used to, so I arrived at the location at 1 and just hoped they'd be there. I called Pat a little after 1 simply to see if I could get an update and was very rudely told (more so barked at) that he'd try to get an update and call me back before he hung up. I think I said 2 words total on that phone call. At 1:50 (I've been sitting in my car this whole time) he called back and said the truck wouldn't be there until 3. I politely requested a discount for the inconvenience and was immediately verbally assaulted. BY THE OWNER. Some snippets include, at a full-shout into the phone, "Listen, ma'am, I already gave you a heck of a deal. I'm not giving you a discount." And, "It's bad weather! I don't control the weather! I'm not God!" Shouting. After several attempts at getting a word in, I finally said "Hey, um." He replied, "Hey! Hey what?!" Still shouting. "Hey, may I respond to what you're saying or will you cut me off again when I try to speak?" *pause long enough to assume I have permission to speak* "I am not upset in the least that the truck is running behind. I 100% understand you don't control the weather and that's not the issue. The problem I have is with the complete lack of communication about the timing that has resulted in me wasting a bunch of my day waiting around." He launched back into his attack, mostly repeating a lot of what he already yelled before we agreed upon 3pm and hung up. I would have cancelled the truck right then, but I had already wasted so much of my day that I decided I needed to suck it up and just get the machine moved. I am not a person who posts negative reviews or reports experiences easily, but this was so far beyond the point of inappropriate and unacceptable that I needed to say something. Scully statewide is a family owned and run business . Hiring a family owned vs national franchise mover was a first for me and a pleasant experience. Scully worked in larger groups of people so they could get in, do the job, and get out. On the actual moving day, 5 men made short order of unloading. Sure, a few items were broken or chipped but you have to expect that in every move. The personnel were clean, clean cut, used proper grammar, and I did not hear one word of fowl language. Their gear, equipment and blankets were clean. Time was taken to protect my floors and new carpet. They had pride in themselves and their work. I'd use them again for sure! I did speak with a live person and she was very pleasant and passed my information on to the appropriate person. I received a call back from this person who left a voicemail. A few weeks went by due to the uncertainty of my move date. Once confirmed of my move date, I reached back out to Scully's both by phone and by their online quote process and NEVER received a call back or a response to my email quote. Took twice the estimate time and twice the money, busted up the old loc and damaged my appliances and got oil stains all over the carpet in the new place. Recommended by the new apartment complex so they knew where we were going. We used Scullys for our first move in GR and plan to for our next. They arrived on time, were polite and professional. They were honest with us that they allow extra time to complete your move when giving a quote so they won't end up adding extra time and having to charge you more. Although they quoted me just above another company we knew we wouldn't need to worry about increases in the charge like many other companies.
