I had a very poor experience here when I took my 1995 Mercedes 500 SL in to be smog tested. The technician did not appear to know what he was doing. He could not find the various places on the car that he was supposed to connect his equipment to. He was on Google trying to find that information and couldn't. Then he was asking me if I knew. You're supposed to use a dynamometer for that car...he did not use a dynamometer. I'm sure they're fine for modern cars but I certainly would not take an older car there. Even though he could not properly complete the test, they still charged me and told me the car failed. read more

Recently went for a test, after having gone here for the past 6 years. I was always happy with the service, however this time was different. It was an older gentleman that helped me and took one look at the intake in my Honda Civic and immediately refused to test because of some recent codes or "rules". I've never had an issue with it however this was a new employee I had not seen there before and refused to give me a test. After leaving, I went to the smog test center at crista car wash and had my test done and passed within 10 minutes. Would not recommend this place if you have any modifications to your engine. read more

This shop is clean and fast and we've had most of our cars smogged there. My Mazda is coming up for renewal in September and will need a smog, so I will definitely be returning. Whoa! My timing was impeccable. No one in line before me. Except the mechanic was at lunch. We spoke, I shared that he should take his time. But he came back from his lunch break right away, (downed that sandwich fast)!, and took care of me. I told him he shouldn't have done that! Anyway, its nice to receive selfless service. He quickly took care of the smog check. We just moved to the area and I have two more cars that need the test and he shared when the slowest times were, so I could het right in again. In and out in about 10 minutes flat. I brought in my car on a Friday morning and the worker instructed me to pull inside the stall, scanned the DMV paperwork and got started on the test. He saw me pull up the Yelp check-in and gave me the 20% discount without even me asking about it. A couple weeks after passing my smog inspection at SCV, i received a notice from DMV-- a Notice of Incomplete Renewal. So i returned to SCV, and Alex said, "So what do you want me to do about it?!" "I could test you again, but you'd have to pay for it." After a half hour on the phone with DMV, they explained that SCV's computer is no longer certified to send automated Vehicle Inspection Reports to DNV's computer! Since i was tested weeks ago, I suspect Alex was well aware of the problem. Helps explain his overall bad attitude. I won't return here. 9/27/16 Response to SCV Manager: As I stated, the SCV technician informed me that my car had passed the smog inspection and confirmed that a report was automatically transmitted to DMV. Two weeks later, DMV sent me a Notice of Incomplete Renewal. When i finally reached DMV, DMV checked the records and informed me that no report had been received from SCV Smog. DMV attributed the failure to non-certification of the SCV computer. Now, the SCV manager tells me that this anomaly is "impossible," and that I was sent the notice because the bytes from SCV hadn't yet reached the DMV computer-- the Notice of Incomplete Renewal was erroneous. I can't claim to have any special insight into the vehicle certification process. All i know is that I paid the fee for a smog inspection, my car passed its smog inspection, and DMV did not receive it and had a credible explanation for the failure. Though he had no other customers at the time, the technician was entirely dismissive when I reported the problem, and now I'm out the cost of the inspection and with no registration sticker. read more

Pretty horrid. Called 3 time over about an hr to confirm they are open and to check how busy they were due to child care, although no one answered the phone. I went anyways based on the yelp review. Anyways, it was open and customer free. I approached and was greeted by a younger guy sitting behind the counter. Told him I'd like a smog and he responded in the 4Runner? I need the paperwork then. I told him I didn't have the paperwork, which he told me I needed it to do the smog and attempted to end the sale. Knowing that's false, I politely told him I haven't brought the hard copies in in years since it's all electronic to the dmv. He became quiet, and said he technically could but would be a very long wait since he would have to type in the information by hand. (Really, a 19 digit vin and my name and address) Anyways I told him so be it I need the smog done, and sat down. He pulled the car in, and within a minute or two he said the dmv isn't online and he couldn't do it. Shocked (not....) I told him I could wait, or perhaps do the smog check and it would submit it when it came online? He basically blew me off, and shut the hood. I pulled out disgusted by someone's sheer laziness. Oh, I also called the place when I was sitting in there since I now figured he just didn't pick up the phone to avoid work. The entire place had speakers hooked to the phone, which was laughably loud. Never again. I drove around the corner to smog pro (same lot) and was greeted by a smile and handshake. I told him the "dmv" might be down, and he laughed. He obviously had some background on the excuse (I told him I just came from around the corner) and told me it would be 30 minutes sir. read more

I take my cars here every year they need a smog. I am usually out of there in 30 min or less even with a car or two ahead of me. If you go early he will get you out of there in less than 15 min. His price is fair. read more
