Pretty horrid. Called 3 time over about an hr to confirm they are open and to check how busy they were due to child care, although no one answered the phone. I went anyways based on the yelp review. Anyways, it was open and customer free. I approached and was greeted by a younger guy sitting behind the counter. Told him I'd like a smog and he responded in the 4Runner? I need the paperwork then. I told him I didn't have the paperwork, which he told me I needed it to do the smog and attempted to end the sale. Knowing that's false, I politely told him I haven't brought the hard copies in in years since it's all electronic to the dmv. He became quiet, and said he technically could but would be a very long wait since he would have to type in the information by hand. (Really, a 19 digit vin and my name and address) Anyways I told him so be it I need the smog done, and sat down. He pulled the car in, and within a minute or two he said the dmv isn't online and he couldn't do it. Shocked (not....) I told him I could wait, or perhaps do the smog check and it would submit it when it came online? He basically blew me off, and shut the hood. I pulled out disgusted by someone's sheer laziness. Oh, I also called the place when I was sitting in there since I now figured he just didn't pick up the phone to avoid work. The entire place had speakers hooked to the phone, which was laughably loud. Never again. I drove around the corner to smog pro (same lot) and was greeted by a smile and handshake. I told him the "dmv" might be down, and he laughed. He obviously had some background on the excuse (I told him I just came from around the corner) and told me it would be 30 minutes sir. read more

Alex at SCV Smog was so helpful. I was doubtful that they would accept a coupon for another place because of their previous reviews. I was about to leave and Alex reassured me that he would honor that price and that they have changed technicians so no other customers would have that problem. And if my car had failed it's test, they RETEST for FREE! Alex said that most people don't check if the competitors are test only or star certified. Most places these days are star certified but you have to ensure that the coupon you're bringing to SCV Smog is from a test only place. read more

I usually go to the same place in Canyon Country to get a smog because it is near work and I just got used to the place. $58 every smog; I checked Yelp for a better deal because it just seems expensive now. I called ahead and talked to Alex at SCV Smog. He said that he'll price match any place out here and being conveniently close to AAA I can go right to get my registration in one fast trip. Three cars ahead of me, still only waited 15 minutes to get my smog. Comfortable, cool and breezy shop. He even offered me a water bottle while i wait. He then said that since I had never been there before, he couldn't do the test. I was surprised as this is the ONLY shop we have ever taken all of our cars to. Alex got hostile and said my car wasn't in the computer and stated he had never seen me before. Unnerving to be accused of lying about being a past customer. Clearly, he did not want my business. John, You mischaracterized my issue as "confusion" over my coupons. Both coupons were from local, Star Certified, non-repair shops. Your advertisement states that you honor competitors coupons, and both objections given by your employee were overcome. That you've doubled down with comments of support for this obvious and dishonest practice, provides addition encouragement for me and other consumers to avoid your shop. Came here for the first time with my old dilapidated car from high school. Needless to say I hate getting that car checked for smog. First impression of the place was that it is nice and had a good seating area. Love having a comfy place for my bum. I was greeted by Alex who was a kind fellow and was told there'd be a twenty minute wait which is pretty darn short. Overall I had a great experience and was treated very well. First time here today! Needed to get a Smog Check for my Honda Element's registration renewal and needed it fast and close by to where I work. Found SCV Smog on Google and called them up. Alex had me come on over and got started right away; the whole thing took about 10 minutes and my only "complaint" is that the waiting area isn't air conditioned and it was 91 degrees when I took it in LOL!
