I am a person who is not fond of taking my car to an auto shop. Ive always had bad luck where they are impolite and discourteous. I've experienced where they would look at me in an offensive way that it makes me feel uncomfortable. My car was due for an oil change last Thursday. I was dreading for this day to come and waited until the last minute, because I didn't want to deal with the way I've been treated before. I decided to go to this station, because a friend mention to me that the gentleman was very nice and she was literally in and out. So I went and met Alex. He looked very professional and was the opposite of my experiences. He asked if I wanted some water while I waited. I thought that was very kind of him. I didn't feel uncomfortable and he seemed like a nice guy. I appreciated his kindness and have told a couple of my friends to go to this smog station. I called to inquire to see if their hours were changed due to COVID-19 and the person I spoke to said they were open every day. Without me asking, he said that he was very busy and had a long line of customers right now and that he doesn't have to chase customers for smog checks (business). Since he mentioned that, I kindly asked if there were any pre-cautionary measures they were taking in the waiting area to protect customers. He then said, "Have you never gotten a smog check before?" I said, "of course but I never been to SCV Smog and didn't know how they operate and was calling to get more info." The person I spoke to was Alex. He was very rude and didn't even give me the opportunity to be a new customer. If you're looking for a new smog shop that is courteous and professional with their clients, SCV Smog is not the one. Was selling a vehicle and realized I needed a valid smog certificate. Was able to get in/out super fast and this was on a Saturday. Got the Yelp discount so pricing was awesome also. Located in the center of town near the Valencia Car Wash. Nice that I didn't have to drive to the outskirts of the Santa Clarita Valley or even to the San Fernando Valley just to get a deal. read more

thanks for reaching out... but the test for a 1997 is the same test done a 1995 except for having to manually test the EVAP system. so I would be more inclined to believe he can't drive a manual transmission vehicle over the "module went down". read more

This was the first time I've been to this location. Contacted them about midday, quick response and very helpful. No appointment needed, so I drove there and waited less than 5 minutes to be checked in. Smog check was fast and easy and took about a 10 minutes to complete. This place is close to my house, behind the post office, so I thought I'd give them a try this year. Their website claims they honor and accept all coupons from competing smog stations in the SCV. That's a lie--they will not honor other coupons. I found a coupon online for a smog station in Saugus, printed it and brought it in. The guy said they wouldn't honor it because "that's not what they'll really charge you." I told him that their website says they'd honor it and had no such fine print, but all the chimp did was shrug and offer me full price. I left. Do yourself a favor and go to Simply Smog Test Only over on Creekside by the car wash. That's where I usually go, that's where I went back to. I had no coupon so I just told them that I saw it online but didn't bring it. She gave me $20 off on the spot for a total of $48 out the door. I brought my vehicle to SCV Smog because they advertise being part of the Star program. The state of California determined I need a Star shop because my commuter vehicle is a 2001. From the moment I pulled into this facility I felt discriminated against for driving an older vehicle. Instead of being greeted with a smile and a how are you today I was given a list of excuses way he can't smog my vehicle. I personally felt he just didn't want to be seen with an older vehicle in his shop. After pleading with him that my car would pass and it would be no trouble he agreed to smog it. So my car passed the mechanical portion but he failed me on the visual. The visual fail was that the finger pull on my oil dipstick was broken off, it was still functional and the crankcase was seal but he felt like failing it. So after I fix the dipstick I returned an hour before the shop closed but was denied service and was told that the only day he could see it was Sundays. Again I just felt like he only wanted to smog check newer vehicles. I returned on Sunday and finally passed my inspection. I will never use this shop in the future. read more

Not happy with this place. He wouldn't accept a competitor's $31.75 + certificate coupon, even though his ad says they honor ALL SCV test only coupons. We argued about it for a while, I mentioned he wasn't honoring his own ad, but he didn't seem to care. He just told me he could do it and get it done in 10 minutes, so why would I want to drive all over somewhere else to get it done? I went to a place next to the Valencia Car Wash and had no problems, plus they accepted the $31.75 coupon. I do not recommend this place and will not go back again. read more

I went there because they open at 8:00 a.m. When I arrived the technician said it would a 1/2 hour for the "machine" to warm up and that I could either wait or leave the car. I left with the car and will not return. Really? Put the machine on a timer and open when you are suppose to open. read more

Yesterday: My Jeep needed a smog check, so I took him over to SCV Smog, on Creekside - next to the post office. They were empty of customers, so I drove right in. The attendant started running the check...and I started reading. After a bit I noticed that he was back behind the counter. Me, getting up: "That was quick." Him: "Yes, but the news is not good." Me: "Uh oh. What's wrong?" Him: "Your car failed the smoke check. There is smoke coming out of your tail pipe." He rustles papers and rings up the bill on the register. Me: "Well. I guess I will run it by my mechanic for repair, then." Him: "Is your mechanic a smog repair specialist?" Me: "No, but smoke out of the muffler sounds like an engine problem. He's a good mechanic and he can deal with that." Him, visibly startled: "Well. OK." Me: (I think to myself, 'Aha. He has a friend who does the repairs and he wanted to refer me. ' I think nothing more of this; I pay $60 (SCV Smog gives a free re-test when the Jeep is repaired) and depart. Today: I took the Jeep to my mechanic in the morning. When I picked it up, he said, "There you are. You're all ready. I didn't see any smoke coming out of the muffler, so I took it over to another place I know. Your smog check is done. That will be $40." So he charged me $0 for repairs and $40 for a smog test. So now I wonder if the guy at SCV Smog is just casually referring work to a friend or if he is systematically 'not passing' cars because the 'fail the smoke test'. Was he startled because I was going to a different mechanic or because I knew enough about cars to suggest that smoke in the exhaust might reflect an engine problem? I would advise against using SCV Smog for your vehicle. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! I wish I would have read these reviews before going there. I am only signing up on Yelp to post this review....that's how horrible this place is now. I had been to this same exact location 3 years ago with the same identical vehicle and had a normal experience, with my car passing smog check with no issues. It is a 2005 car, not an old muscle car, with less than 30,000 miles on it. I have an aftermarket catback exhaust with a CARB# printed on it and a forced air induction intake also with a CARB# stamped on it. All of these parts were identical and have not been altered in any way since my previous smog check 3 years ago. The "new" owner started to perform his visual inspection of the car and immediately started to identify issues with the car. He tells me within 2 minutes that my car failed the visual inspection. I kindly asked him for my car keys back since he didn't need to go through with the actual smog check machine since he would fail me for visual. He refused and stated that "I have already started the test" which was a lie as the computer was not hooked up to my car and the back tires were not yet placed on the turning wheels. It gets even better..... He then states to me that "I'll take care of you if you take care of me." I don't know about you, but when somebody says that at a smog place, he means "pay me cash under the table and you'll pass." He even said, "When you pulled in here I knew you modified your car and there would be a problem." I called him out on it and he quickly backtracked and claimed that's not what he meant. He did all his diagnostics and the car passed with flying colors, but because he marked it as a visual fail it would not pass. He then proceeds to charge me $60 for the test. I refuse and he tells me, "What does the f#$%^& sign over my head say?" At that point, I could no longer reason with him, paid for the test and then went to another location where my car passed the Smog test in about 10 minutes. At the other Smog place, the technician told me that SCV Smog never even submitted my test to DMV and didn't truly run the test. Needless to say, I have already put in a claim with my credit card company to refuse charges and will make it my mission to inform as many people as possible. Avoid this place like the plague. The owner is completely out of touch and dishonest. He kept going on and on about how the previous owner lost his house and lots of other info that I didn't really need to hear. I have news for the new owner, keep running your local business this way and word will get around fast. The SCV is a small area and word travels fast. read more

This is a rip-off. I don't recommed this facility! DO NOT HAVE YOUR SMOG TEST HERE!!!!! Read the reviews first, they are true based on experience. I went here for smog test $58. Alex Tapia, who claimed to be the owner of the shop, failed my car for smog because it was not driven for a long time and the battery died. Understandably, I agreed with Alex that because the car's computer resets, no data was read. He told me to drive the car for 150 miles then have it retest for free. After 150 miles, went back for retest. Without testing, he is 100% sure the car will fail because he said the car needs to be driven more to gather data. I already told him i did drove more that 150 miles, yet he is pretty sure it will fail. He offered a stationary run, but I have to pay $60 in CASH, then he will test and pass. I declined the offer and have it retest anyways. He failed for the reason that the car is not ready, yet the consumer requested for retest anyways. Also, i was told that since I requested for the retest and failed, I lost the FREE RETEST benefit, even without PASSING!!!!! Went to another smog test facility, in less that 10 minutes, IT PASSED!!!!!! I am a consumer who rely on people like Alex Tapia. Yet they rip you off and take advantage of you because i need their service badly. He is very opportunist! NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! Good thing is that the Bureau of Automotive Repair governs this. I brought my car here as well as a coupon for California Smog check center, which should have been honored by SCV Smog because they advertise "We match all SCV Test Only coupons". The coupon was for $29.75. Like others, I was told this is not acceptable. He said "That's our price," as he pointed to a sign that read $59.75 plus $8.25 state certificate. "Do you still want to get it done?" Luckily, I had a $10 off coupon that actually was honored so I stayed. The price is high and parking is non-existant. The owner and head guy took an extraordinary hour helping me troubleshoot a problem the dealer and I couldn't pinpoint. While "Test Only" stations are by law limited in what they can do, these guys invested a lot of time and energy in helping figure out where to focus on fixing my problem. These guys know a lot about emissions. Could not be more pleased I stumbled on this shop. If you've got a head scratcher as I did, this is a great place to gain some knowledge. read more
