Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! I wish I would have read these reviews before going there. I am only signing up on Yelp to post this review....that's how horrible this place is now. I had been to this same exact location 3 years ago with the same identical vehicle and had a normal experience, with my car passing smog check with no issues. It is a 2005 car, not an old muscle car, with less than 30,000 miles on it. I have an aftermarket catback exhaust with a CARB# printed on it and a forced air induction intake also with a CARB# stamped on it. All of these parts were identical and have not been altered in any way since my previous smog check 3 years ago. The "new" owner started to perform his visual inspection of the car and immediately started to identify issues with the car. He tells me within 2 minutes that my car failed the visual inspection. I kindly asked him for my car keys back since he didn't need to go through with the actual smog check machine since he would fail me for visual. He refused and stated that "I have already started the test" which was a lie as the computer was not hooked up to my car and the back tires were not yet placed on the turning wheels. It gets even better..... He then states to me that "I'll take care of you if you take care of me." I don't know about you, but when somebody says that at a smog place, he means "pay me cash under the table and you'll pass." He even said, "When you pulled in here I knew you modified your car and there would be a problem." I called him out on it and he quickly backtracked and claimed that's not what he meant. He did all his diagnostics and the car passed with flying colors, but because he marked it as a visual fail it would not pass. He then proceeds to charge me $60 for the test. I refuse and he tells me, "What does the f#$%^& sign over my head say?" At that point, I could no longer reason with him, paid for the test and then went to another location where my car passed the Smog test in about 10 minutes. At the other Smog place, the technician told me that SCV Smog never even submitted my test to DMV and didn't truly run the test. Needless to say, I have already put in a claim with my credit card company to refuse charges and will make it my mission to inform as many people as possible. Avoid this place like the plague. The owner is completely out of touch and dishonest. He kept going on and on about how the previous owner lost his house and lots of other info that I didn't really need to hear. This is a rip-off. I don't recommed this facility! DO NOT HAVE YOUR SMOG TEST HERE!!!!! Read the reviews first, they are true based on experience. I went here for smog test $58. Alex Tapia, who claimed to be the owner of the shop, failed my car for smog because it was not driven for a long time and the battery died. Understandably, I agreed with Alex that because the car's computer resets, no data was read. He told me to drive the car for 150 miles then have it retest for free. After 150 miles, went back for retest. Without testing, he is 100% sure the car will fail because he said the car needs to be driven more to gather data. I already told him i did drove more that 150 miles, yet he is pretty sure it will fail. He offered a stationary run, but I have to pay $60 in CASH, then he will test and pass. I declined the offer and have it retest anyways. He failed for the reason that the car is not ready, yet the consumer requested for retest anyways. Also, i was told that since I requested for the retest and failed, I lost the FREE RETEST benefit, even without PASSING!!!!! Went to another smog test facility, in less that 10 minutes, IT PASSED!!!!!! I am a consumer who rely on people like Alex Tapia. Yet they rip you off and take advantage of you because i need their service badly. He is very opportunist! NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! Good thing is that the Bureau of Automotive Repair governs this. I wish I would have read previous reviews prior to taking my business here. I brought my car here as well as a coupon for California Smog check center, which should have been honored by SCV Smog because they advertise "We match all SCV Test Only coupons". The coupon was for $29.75. Like others, I was told this is not acceptable. He said "That's our price," as he pointed to a sign that read $59.75 plus $8.25 state certificate. "Do you still want to get it done?" Luckily, I had a $10 off coupon that actually was honored so I stayed. The price is high and parking is non-existant. The owner and head guy took an extraordinary hour helping me troubleshoot a problem the dealer and I couldn't pinpoint. While "Test Only" stations are by law limited in what they can do, these guys invested a lot of time and energy in helping figure out where to focus on fixing my problem. These guys know a lot about emissions. Could not be more pleased I stumbled on this shop. If you've got a head scratcher as I did, this is a great place to gain some knowledge. read more

$54.75 + $8.25 certificate. I had a coupon from Simply Smog in Valencia for $20. SCV Smog, on their website, has a coupon for $10 off which also states that they accept all other SCV Smog coupons + 10%. They took $20 off my total price honoring the Simply Smog coupon, but didn't give me an additional 10%. I was out of there in about 10 mins. Next door is the Smog Pros shop that advertises $29.95 for Smog check and I was chatting with the inspector asking why he was so much more expensive than Smog Pros and his response was "Smog Pros has a repair shop next door. :-)". I give these guys 3 stars, because they are courteous but expensive compared to other places in the SCV if you are willing to drive a little. read more

When I came back they didnt respect their word and we had to wait for a long while. The service is slow and the weekend worker is really rude. I will NEVER go back to this place. read more

I decided to try scv for my annual smog. I usually don't write reviews for smog shops but the tech Alex really went out of his way for me. I have a 1978 Porsche that can be a pain to smog. Most smog shops I've gone to they either will not do it or Insist I come back on a weekend. Keep in mind it was near closing time. Alex said it was a difficult car to smog due to its age and complexity. I mentioned that I was leaving town and it was my only available time. He looked in my car and saw my little boy smiling. My 2009 hadn't been driven in awhile so passing a smog test was no easy task and took three separate tests over the course of needed repairs and driving the car enough just to make it test-ready! But this place was amazing. Every step of the way I got accurate information and instructions on next steps. At one point even when my dealership wasn't sure what to do next, SCV Smog told me exactly what was needed and they were right every time. Even when my car needed some repairs that SCV Smog could have attempted, they told me it would be best to get the repairs done at the dealership in my case because of specifically needed parts etc, and I really appreciated their honesty instead of just trying to make extra money off me. In the end it took me two months and three tests to pass (my car's problem, not the Smog place!) and even so, I was only charged the full smog check fee once even though the help they gave me was above and beyond. I highly recommend this Smog check business!! You'll get honest, straight answers, and excellent service. Yes they're busy there, and you may have a small wait or need to make an appointment if you can't wait, but that's a good sign that they are a great business if they are busy! (Aim for tues/wed/thurs for a slightly shorter wait time!) read more
