Checked out their website, then gave them a call about cleaning up my Mac before my vacation. I put it off to the last minute and wasn't sure they could help. Luckily, they could help me, and the rush fee was $100. I love that fact they picked up the phone and it wasn't some dead doornail employee who could care less about my computer issue. Chris, the owner, actually answered the phone. He said to bring it down. I came in that same day and he told me they would: clean it up, install new OS, remove junk, and speed it up overall. He quoted me end of the week, but it was ready sooner, so happy about because it would be ready for vacation. Total came out to about $430 with the rush fee. It's been about 6 weeks now and my computer is running amazing, so fast! They also have refurbished Macs for sale, which I'll be back for when my current computer stops working. Super 5 Stars for DC Computers! They care about their business and customers. So glad I found them.

They said it would take from 7-14 business days to try to have it repaired and they had no idea how much it would cost (after the initial $59 fee). I had just paid for an expensive software rental for the month, are you kidding me???!!!! Luckily I found 24/7PcTech! Cesar called me within minutes, it was late Friday and all the other local repair places were closed until Monday. I took it over and he had it diagnosed and fixed in less than 1 hour! Dell told me not to take it anywhere locally. When Cesar opened up my computer he showed me the cheap parts they had used on my expensive laptop. He replaced the bad parts with high-quality ones. Instead of repairing it, I was told it would be very expensive to replace the screen. The technician then offered me what he described as a "great" MacBook Pro if I paid an additional $350, and I agreed. When I got home, I charged the laptop. It made unusual noises, so I called him. He told me it was "just the fan" and not to worry. Shortly afterward, a low battery warning appeared. I asked if he could replace the battery, and he told me to go buy a new battery myself and bring it in for installation. Trying to get help became extremely frustrating. Several times he told me he wasn't available, even though he had previously implied he was available 24/7. I have text messages documenting all of these conversations. After finally finding a time that worked, I brought the laptop back. He later texted me that it was ready for pickup. When I arrived, the laptop was turned off. He told me it simply needed to charge overnight. I took it home, but it wouldn't charge at all. When I contacted him again, he claimed the battery was probably bad and once again told me to buy another battery on my own and bring it back. At that point, I lost confidence and took the laptop to another technician for a second opinion. I was told that even with a bad battery, the computer should still show signs of life when connected to power. Instead, they found a motherboard failure, meaning the laptop was essentially nonfunctional and would never work without a major repair. I felt completely misled. Rather than standing behind what he sold me, he repeatedly shifted the responsibility and expense onto me. I have documentation of our text conversations and the sequence of events. I have since filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and reported the matter as suspected fraud. Please be extremely careful if you are considering doing business here. I was aware that there were numerous Laptop Repair outfits in PB but had never needed to procure any such services until one fateful Saturday afternoon about a month ago. It was a weekend prior to graduate school exams and I was preparing to fire up my laptop for a solid study session; however, when I pressed the power button I knew something was wrong- it would't run the startupscripts and nor could you see the screen bc it was filled blue horizontal lines obscuring everything. -- I didn't know if it was a simple monitor issue, or a nightmare CPU Crash..but didn't have high hopes when I began calling around at Saturday at 4PM. Even tho it was ten minutes til 5PM by then and they were about to close up shop for the weekend the employee told me it was cool if I stopped out for a quick stab at a diagnosis... ...Turns out all my data was intact, no crash. Hallelujah! Was told it was a strictly a monitor issue and could be fixed in no time by simply replacing it.. . Unfortunately it turned out that none of the new or used monitors were compatible with the rest of my hardware and would need to be ordered...... And I needed a computer! Well, the owner of SD Laptops came through even though and hooked me up with a loaner laptop and a/v xfer cables for next to nothing. .Which pretty much saved my academic life. Hung on to it for close to a week until I purchased a new laptop and then brought it right back to SD Laptops to facilitate a fast (1Hr) seamless data xfer and optimization. 5 Star Service and Quality; good people. Came here because my laptop got infected with a virus which wouldn't let me access any files or programs. Safe to say I was in deep SH%&. Explained the problem to Shannon over at SD laptops and I was amazed at how professional he was. He explained how the virus removal process works step by step and was just really polite. Yeah I know this is a given with businesses but if you think about it a lot of people treat you kind of like they just want your money. I was charged a $89 flat fee for virus removal, file back up, and re-installation of windows software. Plus everything was finished and ready for pick up the NEXT DAY. I checked around a lot of other places before I came here and they all charged upward of $100 and required a waiting period of at least 3 days. Got my laptop back and everything worked perfectly. He even reinstalled costly programs like Microsoft word and added anti-virus software at no extra cost. Go see Shannon over at SD Laptops. Hi, I cracked my X1 Carbon Lenovo screen last Wednesday. I managed to order on online and it was delivered on Friday. Today I was searching for an workshop to replace the screen. Due to the COVID-19 virus most places are back logged and I would have to wait until Wednesday to get it repaired. As I am working remotely every early morning with the staff where I work in Kuwait, it been difficult using my mobile or TV monitor. I called SD laptop repair services and they had an Technician Mr Jock who lived near by, as many here in San Diego are working remotely, he was able to replace my screen in about an hour. I am so happy and relieved as now I can continue to support my team. I am very much appreciative of the professionalism and expertise of their engineers. I can't thank then enough for their support. i went to 2 different computer repair shops before finding SD Laptops. I had a Macbook Pro that had a liquid spill. The first shop told me my computer was shot and that I would need to buy a new one. The second shop was very wishy washy about what was wrong with my computer and charged me about $150 to half fix it. I finally found SD Laptops which has a flat labor fee of $89, plus the cost of parts. They told me exactly what was wrong with my Macbook Pro and gave me exact prices. I am so happy I found them; they brought my Macbook Pro back to life; which I was told by the first shop that it was dead. I felt very comfortable when I brought my Macbook Pro in...I knew I had brought it to the right place. If I or anyone has any computer issues, I would recommend SD Laptops...they are the best. My DC jack was broken on my laptop (power would not stay on, power jack was loose, power cord had to be wiggled to charge) . I called "Same Day Computer Repair" the owner of that company told me it would be 2 days and a cost of $180.00... Called Laptops Plus told it would be 1-2 days cost $150.00... Called SDPCFIX(.)com ... called other shops in San Diego each said it would be 1-2 days maybe more. Side-note..... I am a computer geek and was unable to fix my issue but I knew exactly what the problem was (broken solder). I did not disclose this knowledge with any of the companies mentioned above. In the middle of a major group project, and of course me being the Team Leader, I plug in my trusty HP Laptop so I can dictate what everyone else needs to do. WHAT? My favorite little blue lights arent going to turn on? What is going on? My laptop is dead so I harass a group member to yelp computer repair and the first listing is for Cameron. I call him, he quotes me an awesome price so I speed from SDSU to PB on St. Patricks Day. As I yell at the drunkards walking through PB I make my way to Camerons house. I tell him my sad little story of my HP not turning on. He can only guess what is wrong with my laptop before he begins to work on it. Long story short....Cameron fixed it in 2 business days and didnt rip me off. I will recommend him to ANYONE who needs some laptop love. I have to give five stars to SD Laptops on their services. Here's the story; My roommate, we'll call him dumbass, thought it would be a good idea to practice his chip shot in the house. I guess dumbass was feeling like his game was on, so his plan was to chip over the laptop sitting on the talble and sink the ball in the magazine basket. Lets just he dumbass can't handle the Sunday pressure. He fell short and busted my laptop screen. Not knowing where to go, I jumped on Yelp and did a search for laptop repair. I call SD Laptops and found this to be a fast and simple fix. So I cruised over to PB, dropped my laptop off at their shop, grabbed a bit to eat at Cass St. When I was done with my food, so were the repairs. SD Laptops I can recommend without hesitation. I took a company "all in one" in for repair because it wouldn't turn on. SD Laptops thought it was probably just a defective switch. They called me the next day and said it wasn't the switch and would try to find out what the issue was. When they discovered it was the video screen and researched the cost to repair & looked up what the computer was worth they advised me not to repair it as it would not be cost effective. I thanked them and asked if I could pick it up because the HD needed to be secured. They offered to remove the HD and dispose of the computer for me. Great! I went in today to get my HD and pay them and they refused to accept any money from me because they said they didn't "fix" my problem and would not take a dime from me. read more

Who can i trust?, How much have I lost?, and what's this gonna cost? "Great! this is going to be fun" I thought. I love SD Laptops! The hard drive on my Mac crashed and I had backed up using Time Machine. However, when I tried to upload all my old info onto the new hard drive, none of the apps that had been backed up through Time Machine would open, even though the icons appeared on the screen. I brought my computer to SD Laptops in Normal Heights and Shannon got all my old info onto the new hard drive in 4 hours! Turns out Time Machine wasn't working on the new OS so he transferred everything over individually, then got the Time Machine to work! It was $89- well worth it and he said (when I first dropped it off) that if he wasn't able to fix it, he would have charged nothing. I brought in a laptop after a software purchase-install nightmare (long sad story) at a particular computer store in Fashion Valley. I had used San Diego Laptops before, and had been very happy with the outcome. This time I called to inquire about installing a certain software program. Cameron said he could take care of it same day. I got there and his assistant behind the counter said "It will take just 10 minutes or so".....When finished I asked for the bill and the reply was "thanks for coming in but there is no charge, it was just software". I guess my newfound customer loyalty and future business was my only cost! So amazing, please come in if you want to do yourself a big favor. I'm totally accident prone and not good with technology. I really wanted to streamline everything, because I had like iPads, computers, desktops and laptops... and it was just a lot. Oh and my iPhone. But now everything is beautifully connected and my daily life in general is more simplified and relaxed. Love that!! I mean, that's what help with tech stuff should be about. Everyone here is super intelligent but no one talks down to you just because you are not as tech savvy as them. This was the 3rd place I called after being the smart person I am and stepping on my laptop. The LCD screen broke and was leaking fluid. I dealt with it for a few weeks but pretty soon the fluid was covering most of my screen. I started calling around to find out how much and how long it would cost to repair the screen and most places quoted me around $300-$400 and a week turn around. Then I called SD Laptops and spoke to Cameron! It was a Sunday and his quote was half the price of the other stores and I would have it back the same day. I don't know what I would have done without SD Laptops! I have a very old laptop, with a ton of very important files and programs that seems to be virus prone. As a web designer I can deal with a fair amount of computer issues, but twice now I've been smacked down by viruses so virulent there was no way I was going to be able to get the computer back up and running (one time I couldn't get past the blue-screen-of-death). SD Laptops cleaned the viruses off for an absurdly low flat rate and my ancient little laptop is running better than it has in 5 years! I recently had to have my computer fixed again so went back to the guys at SD Laptops. They blew me away again. I took my Dell there in 2009 but now I work on a Mac. I wasn't sure if they worked on macs too but they do and they fixed it much cheaper/ quicker than the Apple store quoted. The "repair" this time was my fault, I spilled my water bottle on my laptop and was afraid I may have ruined it. I took it in the next morning, they were able to clean it up and get it back to normal within 24 hours. It took me way too long to get to writing this review, but here I am! I have a dell inspiron 1545 and I tripped while carrying it [in a case I might add! Didn't do me any good at all!] and the entire LCD screen shattered pretty much. I took it to Cameron after hearing all these good reviews here, and not only did he fix it well and for a reasonable price, but he managed to get my screen NEXT DAY and didn't charge me extra for shipping! Based on the reviews, I spoke to Cameron today about my 7-year old laptop that displays only on the upper half of the LCD. We discussed the problem and he explained that the LCD connections may have been damaged or worn out and that a new LCD needs to be installed. He quoted me a very reasonable price for parts and labor and even reminded me of the $10 discount that Yelp provides. What a refreshingly candid and honest individual he is. Although I am still deciding if to proceed with the repair or get a new laptop, surely he will get my business if repair is the way to go. read more

Here's the deal: if it's broke and they couldn't fix it, your laptop is returned without charge! If you mention "Yelp", they'll discount the basic service charge ($89) by $10. Within one day, they had replaced a broken power jack in my Dell laptop, but then found there was a second major problem; so, they returned it to me - free. Cameron was able to fix my old computer when it had a virus. When I decided to get a new computer, he was able to build a custom computer system to my requirements for a reasonable rate. My laptop has been working like new for over 6 months now and I havn't had to download any new anti virus software or anything. I spilled a beer on my MacBook Pro, instantly voiding the warranty. I tried fixing it myself and only made things worse. I dropped it off on a Saturday just before they closed and they had if fixed by Tuesday and it was only $89! Rather than upselling me on a brand-new and pricey rebuild, Shannon cloned all of my data over from my current hard drive, put it on a new hard drive, and upgraded me to Windows 11. And through sheer determination, Shannon also fixed my reboot time -- it went from 2.5 hours down to under a minute. This was without a doubt a hugely time-consuming and frustrating process, but Shannon and his team went above and beyond to diagnose and repair it. I absolutely recommend Shannon and SD Bytes if you need a repair or an upgrade or a rebuild or something brand new. You won't find a more competent and honest team in San Diego!

Though the whole process took a little longer than expected (because my situation was a bit more complicated), I got back probably 99% of the stuff i wanted and 110% of the stuff I deleted a long time ago. Looking through all the photos and videos through the years, it made me so happy! Money well spent! Staff was quick to provide a quote, was clear on drop off times/procedures, very professional, and responsive. The only thing that was strange was them asking for a tip before the project was complete, but maybe that's just part of their payment system that they can't control.

I called numerous similar computer businesses and with the model number of my laptop, and model number of my battery that needs to be replaced they were instantly able to give me a price of replacement costs of the batter and labor...if a business can not do that ( " after twenty years") maybe they need a new business !
