We rented the bigger cabin for more people to sleep in and it was roomy enough for 6. Phil and his wife, the owners are super cool. Very personable and helpful when it came to fishing tips.

They have a ton of lawn furniture in the garden area where you can enjoy the lake and the mountains but all the furniture was not well kept, there was rust and cobwebs from lack of attention. The view from the room was exceptional. That's the only thing we liked about the place. Save your money, go somewhere else.

The customer service here is not great. The people are nice enough, but the people working the front desk do not seem to know the answers to even basic questions. Even though the place was completely empty, they charge for an early check in. Our reservation was not correct, and they put us in a regular double room instead of the suite we asked for. Had to return to the lodge and get all new keys and room after unloading and reloading the car. We also paid for a late checkout, and we still got locked out of our room and no one responded to our call. We had to go down to the lobby, which isn't easy here, after being promised someone was on their way. Getting anything takes forever or no one knows the answer. We stayed Saturday to Monday. Unfortunately, the onsite food service and bars close at 3pm on Sundays even though that was our full day there. The tiki bar was hardly open to get drinks by the pool. Essentially the only thing to actually do here is swim in the pool, get a massage, or use the gym. No kayak rentals, no mini-golf course, no pontoon cruises, etc despite all of this being advertised on the website. It was mostly empty and felt very abandoned in most parts of the property. The highlights: the pool is nice and people were very friendly. The bartender was awesome and went above and beyond to do what she could. The actual suite was nice, but not worth the price based on the other amenities being unavailable. The massage therapist was amazing! If the owners put any effort into this place, it could be great. The lake and scenery are amazing. In its current state, we wouldn't return.

Our cottage was incredibly cozy, and our days were filled with simple joys: harvesting vegetables from the garden, feeding the bunnies, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, helping shepherd the goats, and playing with the cats. There's also a beautiful beach less than a 5-minute drive away, making it the perfect balance of farm and coast. At Mar Vista, fresh eggs are delivered to your cottage every day. On our last day, we noticed every single egg in our egg basket was blue! We realized Cab or Deanna had probably hand-picked the blue eggs for us after learning that our toddler was in a phase where she loved everything blue. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant so much to us. And who knew eggs came in so many beautiful colors? That was one of many incredible things we learned/experienced at Mar Vista. Our toddler has been asking to go back every single day since we left, and honestly, so have we. We can't wait to return.

I'm so glad that we stayed here alternatively because it was a nice location and our room had a view of the lake! Additionally, our cottage was so clean, almost pristine and it felt private enough that I was able to get some much needed rest and sleep after severe jet lag. The owners obviously take pride in maintaining the property and even the pool looked so inviting but it was too windy and cool when we were there. We stayed for four nights and I slept all day twice while hubby was out fishing. There's a Safeway, Dollar Tree, and Grocery Outlet to shop at nearby and Walmart if you go a bit further away. Nothing negative to say about this place and it's good to know that there's a clean and relaxing spot to enjoy some rest and relaxation at the lake!

My extended family has been coming to WP for 44 years now, and while I can't always get away from the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley life to join in, I appreciate every moment I spend here. It's just regular people from the Bay Area escaping the madness for a little while, reconnecting with family and friends and enjoying a beer (or two...) It is as enjoyable as you make it. While there is a pool for adults and kiddos, bocce ball, tennis court, bbq area, swings and playground, there are also porches on each cabin, which is a key ingredient for us.
