Wonderful relaxing campgrounds with fantastic customer service! Our group had a great time despite the hot weather. Cooled off in the pool as well as the swimming hole. Vegan snacks & popsicles in the store too! Loved the fire pit & we didn't have to buy wood. Bathrooms & showers were clean & very nice for camp grounds. We will definitely return!

Excellent venue for our high school choir's retreat! We had over 35 people in three different lodges which were all extremely clean with new furniture and stainless steel appliances in the kitchens. For choirs, or any other singers, the acoustics in Mandal Hall were extraordinary and one of the singers commented that it was better than the cathedrals in Europe (from where they had just sang over the summer.) Enjoyable activities such as archery, paddle boats, and hiking, campfire with s'mores to name a just a few options. We also appreciated the very accommodating and friendly staff lead by Susan. They were always quick to respond to our big group's needs. We had a great time and will definitely return!

Here are a couple of deer we saw around dusk.

This was our 2nd trip to the property and it did not disappoint. Here was our scene: 1rst group - stayed in cottage #46. 2 full beds with luxury linens, 4 pillows per bed. There is a small table and 2 chairs on the front deck. There is a small kitchenette inside with a bar height table, with I believe 3 seats. There is a small fridge, sink, stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee press, dishes, glasses, mugs, flatware and spices. There are paper towels, Kleenex, extra tp under the bathroom sink. There is also AIR CONDITIONING and overhead fans. It was AMAZING to be out in the heat and come back to a cool space. The bathroom has a huge shower, heater, sink and traditional toilet. It come equipped with Honest brand body soap and Alba hair products. There are 2 washcloths, 2 hand towels and 2 bath towels & bath mat. There were extra towels under the sink, if needed. It was SPOTLESS. Not a speck of dust or cobweb or dust bunny anywhere which is absolutely amazing because I've stayed at other 4+ star properties that were not as clean and this was in the woods! Bravo to the cleaning crew! It was such a spacious little cottage and we slept very well. 2nd group did tent camping. They had a nice, big flat spot near the fire pit. They had plenty of room to spread out and it backed up to a creek. The bugs weren't too bad and it was pretty quiet. They got to look at all the amazing stars because there is virtually no light pollution. The frogs were GLORIOUS, singing at night. The property has EXTREMELY clean bathrooms and showers. They are in trailers and so it's very private. There is also a Yoda for all the Star Wars fans, a pool, a garden, a volleyball net, a fire pit, a miniature golf course, a small pond with stand up paddle board, kayak and paddle boats. The paddle boats were in need of a little love but we just used the oars to navigate. There are beautiful trees and native grasses and spring flowers everywhere. There are walking trails and we even saw a ton of birds, lizards and deer. They have a beautiful path that leads up to the top of the hill and overlooks the entire property. There is a yoga platform, a picnic table, and a couple of benches for resting in the shade. There is also a very beautiful gong at the top of the hill. Not too far from the property is also a lake and some small towns with a farmers market in Middleton on Fridays. Calistoga is 30 minutes away. The property would be an AMAZING location for weddings or reunions. There are small yurts, cabins, cottages, rv hookups, and tent camping available. It is a bit of a drive on some curvy roads but the scenery is spectacular and completely worth the trip if you're looking to get out of civilization but too far. I HIGHLY recommend this place. It was easy to book, easy to check in and out. You can book on their website and I found them on Airbnb too.

I was a local kid who worked my summer jobs cleaning cabins, then at the pool snack bar and then, finally, at the coveted lifeguard position at the two pools. All the "city kids" would come every summer and I had my "summer friends" when I wasn't in school. It was magical. I now live in San Diego and my children can't understand that magic so I try to compare it to movie, "Dirty Dancing." They are jealous. I don't blame them; Pine Grove in the 1980s was something out of a movie. Anyone who was there has endless stories about the place. I read someone on here say the new owners keep the local "riff raff" out... I don't know what that means but back when I was a local kid working there, the city kids and local kids loved meeting every summer. I hope that kind of kindness isn't lost on this generation.

The reviews were sparse and mixed but the space looked beautiful online. I reached out directly by email to Joe, describing the type of event I wanted, and he was very responsive and helpful and generous. First of all, if you read nothing else, I have to rave about the infrastructure. Joe and the folks over there are really bright, mindful, and hardworking - and you can see from what they're building. The bathroom/shower complex near the campground is new and well built. A stone's throw away, the pool area is beautiful and clean, with a majestic lawn to run around on and great facilities. We rented the Mooncat Tiny House and the Glamping Tent and they are both cute, well proportioned, and well designed. The owners have beautiful things and great taste - we found the kitchen stocked with Japanese knives and Staub & Le Creuset cookware. They've cleverly set up mesh WiFi around the whole area that, while not reliable enough for Zoom calls, is impressive. I got a chuckle when a friend, sitting on a stump, asked me for the WiFi password. Even the structures that aren't new are taken care of; things are lived in and not luxury, but nothing is dilapidated. When I first got there, it took some time to get my bearings. The property is rather large (we never really did explore the east half of it) and there are a lot of structures, some inhabited and some available to rent. Folks of all stripes seem to live there at all times of year. I think the thing that first threw me off is you're never TRULY out of eyesight or earshot from someone, despite the woodsy environ. There's often the odd person or small group sitting on a porch, working on a project, hanging by the pool, or walking a dog - it's more like an unstructured neighborhood in the woods than a secluded campground. I soon met Joe and found him to be a helpful and well-meaning fellow. In time, folks in my group struck up conversations with the other folks around. Noah and one of the kids came to clean out the glamping tent for us and were very welcoming as well. Everyone was friendly and I came to realize this was a community of folks who had come here - perhaps some temporarily - to get away from the outside world and find some time and space for themselves. The attitude as I see it was rather healthy and positive. People there seem to be generous of mind and spirit. I was nervous that our group - 30-somethings drinking and floating in the pool, yelling and cursing at one another as we played games like spikeball and cornhole - would be an unwelcome nuisance, but the residents were really kind, accepting, and even fascinated by our antics. I would recommend Pine Grove highly to anyone, but mostly I think I've found a gem that I hope is around for years to come. I think when we all have young kids and want a place to spend a quiet weekend where they can explore, this will be our oasis. If you're reading this, thanks for being such great hosts, Joe, Noah, & everyone!

My extended family has been coming to WP for 44 years now, and while I can't always get away from the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley life to join in, I appreciate every moment I spend here. It's just regular people from the Bay Area escaping the madness for a little while, reconnecting with family and friends and enjoying a beer (or two...) It is as enjoyable as you make it. While there is a pool for adults and kiddos, bocce ball, tennis court, bbq area, swings and playground, there are also porches on each cabin, which is a key ingredient for us. Time spent on these porches growing up with family and friends have created memories that will last a lifetime, and I thank the Strickler family for every one.

Caution! I have never given a bad on-line review to anyone…read moreor any entity and unfortunately this is my first. I got off the phone earlier today with whom I think was "Joe", possibly the manager regarding my complaint over a dirty room (esp floors) and perhaps sheets that had dirt or maybe sand. The customer service was probably the worst I have experienced, including dealing with the French (no I'm not Francophobic, my wife is French and we go there a couple of times a year). After taking a morning shower I noticed dirt outside the shower and after walking back to my bed my feet were black from the dirty floor, yes black. I left early in the morning for a court case, before the managers were available at 10am. By noon yesterday I was driving back to Monterey. I only asked for an adjustment to the $11 surcharge for that room though a more reasonable accommodation should have been offered given the experience. The push-back was swift and unyielding - "you waited two days to inform us" (actually one day given that we were then driving for 4.5 hrs) and he indicated that we couldn't "prove it". We have stayed at Eagle & Rose Inn several times previously without issue and I am very disappointed over "Joe's" tone and lack of consideration, all over 11 bucks. As such I give this treatment and experience a big thumbs down. C'est la vie, as the French would say...

A special shout-out to the Black lady working the graveyard shift at hotel registration. Sorry for using your race but since I didn't get her name, I'm wanted to make sure she got her appropriate complement. She was kind, helpful, and welcoming. Her recommendation to visit Grinder's Coffee was excellent, and her customer service made a great first impression. I stayed on the second floor near the highway and found the room clean, spacious, and comfortable. Amenities included a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, TV, and free guest coffee. The shower stood out for its strong water pressure and consistent hot water. The casino was less appealing to me, as it mainly featured slot machines with only a few table games and limited tables open. I was also disappointed that the UFC fights weren't shown at the bar despite the channel being available on the property. The Coke fountain drinks on-site were a nice touch. The snack bar exceeded expectations, especially the pizza, though I wasn't impressed with the restaurant. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would return for the hotel accommodations if I am ever in Lake County. While the casino wasn't my preference, Twin Pine is worth considering if you're looking for a comfortable place to stay in Lake County
