We weren't able to check in until after 6 o'clock even with the Covid tthe manager and the owner Jody and her son Jason are crooks. She tried to blame everything that was wrong with the place on the people that are staying downstairs. It took us 15 minutes to be able to get inside after the sixth after the 6 PM check in and we had to kill flies. There were no blankets on the bed bed and we didn't get any blankets. They dropped blankets off in the carport at about 2 AM in the morning.. The pictures tell at all do not waste your money going to this property they are crooks. I will be reporting them to Lake County health department on July 20, 2020.

Is it 5 Stars in a "SF Ritz Carlton"Way? Ah no. This is 5 Stars for Clearlake folks. The main house is old with a musty odor and the furnishings are far fancy but completely comfortable. Lots a large TV's, free wifi and newer kitchen appliances. Down side, totally not a good option for the elderly or handicap because there are lots of stairs. My 80 something parents-in-law had to stay in one of the small adjoining Cabins because the quantity of stairs in the main house just wasn't doable for them. The real gem is the fact that you're right on the lake. Yes it's got algae but look past the first 5 feet of shore and you'll see the true wow factor. There is a very large deck off the second story and .... WOW! The views were breathtaking. The outside "yard" is massive. Oh the parties that could be and probably have happened here were probably epic. And a tiki bar? YES! I loved that there is a Chavez Market right across the street so running out of or forgetting anything isn't a problem. It's a pretty nice market (clean, fresh produce and SAFE). We had a wonderful reunion here and even though there were a few restroom issues and the beds are like sleeping on clouds, and the cabins smelled like smokers stayed there, it's still a great place for a large group. Right on the lake ... Like RIGHT on the lake!

The estate is located on the banks of Russian River and only a pleasant 20 minute walk away from Downtown Healdsburg. We arrived after dark to find our friends around the fire pit enjoying some incredible barbeque. I was pretty impressed even with my first walk through of the property in the dark! There are a series of elegantly themed cottages surrounding a main Queen Anne Style home. Whoever decorated this place is a genius. Every corner has a unique detail to discover! There is a rooster house with all kinds of adorable pieces and an Oak house with a tree through the kitchen! The spread out cottages allowed for privacy and serenity. I've never slept better! In the morning, I woke up surrounded by the electric colors of fall. I also noticed that the estate was surrounded by all kinds of colorful fruit trees and vegetation. None of us wanted to leave! Sweet sweet escape. It only took us an hour to get back to San Francisco! I can't wait to go back!

Icaria Winery, Cloverdale, CA - September 1, 2023 This was…read morethe second and final winery of the day for us. We had tasted earlier in the day and were ready for one more tasting adventure. Tastings here are by appointment only. I learned that texting in my appointment request worked very well. We were able to get a 3 pm appointment. Due to its location, you'll get a text explaining how to get to the location and what to do when you get there for parking. This is a pretty small scale family-run winery operated out of the basement of a house that is at the top of a hill not far out of town. There are about 50 acres of wine grapes grown down below. The tasting fee is reasonable - $20/person, compared to other wineries in the Alexander Valley area that have $40+/person tasting fees. Our host was family member Helen, who was charming and knowledgeable and she poured our wines and explained a little about each one. We also got to meet and talk to her husband and winemaker, Greg, We got to taste their Chardonnay, Zinfandel, a couple of their cabs, and a very recently (that morning) bottled Pinot Noir. Everything was very delicious as we sipped our wine overlooking the vineyard below. All the wines were very reasonably priced I thought, considering their outstanding quality $35 - $65. We bought a bottle of the Cab. Sauvignon and the Pinot Noir. We have every expectation they'll be delicious when we open them.

Came here with a friend during a wine tasting event, and we were both blown away by the aesthetics and the Cabernet! This was hands down some of the best Cab Sauv that I have ever tasted in my life. That kind of Cab that makes your eyes roll to the back of your head with each and every sip. Yeeep... like that. 'Twas extraordinary and I lived to tell it. Upon entering their estate, there's a long windy one way road. It was our first time there and we didn't realize that it was a one way road until we got closer to their grounds. It's pretty gnarly! We didn't realize that they have a shuttle bus that transports guests up to their estate. Whoops! Make sure you don't make the same mistake we did and park at the bottom of the hill and wait for that shuttle. Trying to turn around to go back down that one way street is scary, but we made it work. From first glance, the estate looks like a charming old house on the hill. In fact it is, but you'd never expect what's hiding in the backyard. A full on patio tasting area with jaw dropping views of the valley beneath. Our eyes instantly lit up when we made it to the back patio of their estate. Is this even real?! It was stunning and extremely intimate. We were only one of three groups (one group left shortly after we arrived). It felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. The owner/winemaker (Jeff Smith) and his wife (Helen Smith) are so down to earth and hospitable. They poured us our wines and told us about what we were tasting. I love visiting and supporting small family owned wineries like this. It's such a special and intimate experience. Every wine that we tried was exceptional. Their Cabs are just friggin' mouthwatering, and this is coming from a gal who doesn't drink Cab all too often. But let me tell you; their cabs are so damn smooth. It's literally like silk. Still bold like a Cab should be but extremely balanced. Boldness without the super tannins. When it hits the back of your throat, it just opens up with so much complexity. These are Cabs that don't need food to bring out their flavors; they can be enjoyed all by themselves in completely delightfulness. But, I KNOW that they would be amazing when they are being paired. Just exceptional Cabs. I'm actually so grateful that we came across Icaria during the wine tasting event because I'm not sure if I would have discovered them otherwise. If you're looking to taste in the Cloverdale area, Icaria should be at the top of your list of wineries to try.

She made sure we got in the door, laid out the more than reasonable expectations and made you feel welcome (all by phone). If you are looking for pristine, super upscale, hoity toity, skip this one. But, if you are looking for comfortable, relaxing, a place where you and your kids, friends and family can have a blast, this is the place you want to be. This home is inviting and secluded. The eclectic decor (everything from garage sale pieces to antiques from around the world) invites conversation and wonder. All the amenities are supplied. Bring your clothes and food and you will want for nothing else. The only caveat is the finicky lake. We saw conditions from pea soup (algae) to almost crystal clear in a matter of four days. My suggestion is if you want to swim, get a water craft and go out about 25 yards and enjoy. I have stayed in Motel 6 (never again), The Fairmont Inn & Spa, Sonoma, B&B's all over California and everything in between. Most I would not think about returning to. The lake house is situated right on top of an algae patch so we couldn't swim unless we drove out to somewhere cleaner. My friends dubbed this the Frankenstein house because nothing in the house match and it seems like they just pieced everything together with random stuff found at a thrift store. The interior of the house was lined with antique clocks, phones and other strange artifacts and war memorabilia not an ideal rental for the younger crowd, we were certainly disappointed. With the exception of the flatscreen TV and refrigerator every single item in the house was at least or way over 10 years old. Pool table broken and unbalanced with balls falling out of the pockets, VCR, Radio was a old jukebox, creepy looking AC and Heating Units, poker table's leg broke off after one sitting, even the beds and sofas are old, stained, and lined with dead bugs etc...and the worst part was that the old house vibe comes with the old man smell. There's 2 grills and both of them ran out of propane by the 2nd night we actually had to go out and buy our own propane. We got over it and tried our best to have fun. Then check out day came...we called Julia to let them know we're leaving and we cleaned the place, took out the trash, mopped the floors and wiped all the tables etc...after we left and spent a decent time on the road Julia left us a voicemail saying we trashed the place. She claimed we left garbage everywhere, and how we disrespected their house, stained their furniture and moved things around none of that were true. We tried to call Julia right away and a few times after that but all of our calls were ignored. We contemplated about going back but after a weekend like that there's no way we were gonna turn back around and add 2-3 hours to our commute home. Even so we knew their claims were false and if they had the decency to call us right away we would've turned back and confronted them about it. 3 hours later we received a call from her husband yelling at us. We tried talking to him calmly but he was screaming a lot of unreasonable things that we knew were definitely false and basically told us they're keeping our deposit and hung up. I haven't been hung up like that since middle school...on top of being unprofessional and rude I never expected a 60 year old man to act like a childish teenager. We shared the voicemail with the party and everyone agrees that it was all staged so they can eat our deposit. Right away we tried to contact VRBO.com to file a complaint but apparently the listing was removed because too many people filed complaints about the owner. We definitely felt cheated and will not be coming back. My advice to all you yelpers is that if a place is this cheap usually there a catch and don't trust what you see in pictures. I do have something nice to say about casa de cozumel. It's got a nice view

I was a local kid who worked my summer jobs cleaning cabins, then at the pool snack bar and then, finally, at the coveted lifeguard position at the two pools. All the "city kids" would come every summer and I had my "summer friends" when I wasn't in school. It was magical. I now live in San Diego and my children can't understand that magic so I try to compare it to movie, "Dirty Dancing." They are jealous. I don't blame them; Pine Grove in the 1980s was something out of a movie. Anyone who was there has endless stories about the place. I read someone on here say the new owners keep the local "riff raff" out... I don't know what that means but back when I was a local kid working there, the city kids and local kids loved meeting every summer. I hope that kind of kindness isn't lost on this generation.

I really didn't know what to make of Pine Grove Resort when I first encountered it, looking for…read morevenues to host a summer-camp-themed camping trip for my fiancee and a couple dozen of our friends. The reviews were sparse and mixed but the space looked beautiful online. I reached out directly by email to Joe, describing the type of event I wanted, and he was very responsive and helpful and generous. First of all, if you read nothing else, I have to rave about the infrastructure. Joe and the folks over there are really bright, mindful, and hardworking - and you can see from what they're building. The bathroom/shower complex near the campground is new and well built. A stone's throw away, the pool area is beautiful and clean, with a majestic lawn to run around on and great facilities. We rented the Mooncat Tiny House and the Glamping Tent and they are both cute, well proportioned, and well designed. The owners have beautiful things and great taste - we found the kitchen stocked with Japanese knives and Staub & Le Creuset cookware. They've cleverly set up mesh WiFi around the whole area that, while not reliable enough for Zoom calls, is impressive. I got a chuckle when a friend, sitting on a stump, asked me for the WiFi password. Even the structures that aren't new are taken care of; things are lived in and not luxury, but nothing is dilapidated. When I first got there, it took some time to get my bearings. The property is rather large (we never really did explore the east half of it) and there are a lot of structures, some inhabited and some available to rent. Folks of all stripes seem to live there at all times of year. I think the thing that first threw me off is you're never TRULY out of eyesight or earshot from someone, despite the woodsy environ. There's often the odd person or small group sitting on a porch, working on a project, hanging by the pool, or walking a dog - it's more like an unstructured neighborhood in the woods than a secluded campground. I soon met Joe and found him to be a helpful and well-meaning fellow. In time, folks in my group struck up conversations with the other folks around. Noah and one of the kids came to clean out the glamping tent for us and were very welcoming as well. Everyone was friendly and I came to realize this was a community of folks who had come here - perhaps some temporarily - to get away from the outside world and find some time and space for themselves. The attitude as I see it was rather healthy and positive. People there seem to be generous of mind and spirit. I was nervous that our group - 30-somethings drinking and floating in the pool, yelling and cursing at one another as we played games like spikeball and cornhole - would be an unwelcome nuisance, but the residents were really kind, accepting, and even fascinated by our antics. I would recommend Pine Grove highly to anyone, but mostly I think I've found a gem that I hope is around for years to come. I think when we all have young kids and want a place to spend a quiet weekend where they can explore, this will be our oasis.
