This was day 15 of an epic trip throughout the Pacific Northwest. After incredible experiences in Bend and Newport, Oregon, my husband and I were excited to arrive in Cannon Beach, expecting the same warm hospitality we had encountered throughout the state. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at the Inn at Cannon Beach. My husband checked us in around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. We had booked a four-night stay. Although there were no other guests waiting and three employees were behind the front desk, he was greeted with a curt, "How can I help you?" There was no hello, welcome, or smile. The check-in process felt cold and robotic, with none of the warmth we had experienced at every other property on our trip. After settling into our room, we returned a few minutes later to request the complimentary pass to the local gym. A different employee provided the information with little enthusiasm. She mentioned the gym was about a mile away. When I asked whether it was walkable, she replied, "I can do it." I wasn't asking whether someone could walk it--I wanted to know whether it was practical and safe for visitors unfamiliar with the area. We decided to explore on foot. The route followed a busy road with no sidewalks, something that would have been helpful to mention. We also encountered several large elk roaming near the road and decided it was wiser to turn back. My husband asked to speak with a manager and was directed to the front desk supervisor, who was the same employee who had given us the gym information. He explained that, based on our check-in and subsequent interactions, we did not feel welcome and would prefer to leave if we could receive a full refund. She responded with a perfunctory, "I'm sorry you feel that way," agreed to refund our stay, and that was the end of the conversation. There was no attempt to understand our concerns or ask whether anything could be done to improve our experience. We were disappointed that our first impression of Cannon Beach came from a hotel where we felt like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. For a nightly rate of $500+, we hoped for better service. Although we had to scramble to find accommodations during the busy summer season, we ultimately found another hotel where the hospitality matched everything we had come to appreciate throughout Oregon. read more

My wife and I stayed here recently (early June) for three nights. First, the location is great. On the main drag of S Hemlock, a short walk to a grocery store, Tolovana State Recreation Area, and the beach, as well as a few restaurants. The compound is a series of buildings with rooms that you enter from the outside. We were upstairs with our balcony overlooking the garden, which was nice. The day we checked in, the woman at the front desk was helpful, but for me, with a hearing deficit, she talked fast and I relied on my wife to interpret for me. No big deal, though. They offer cookies individually wrapped, which is a nice touch. In the lobby are tea and coffee. Our room had double queen beds, was clean, and had all the amenities: mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. Strangely, we found that our heater was on, and we had to investigate how to turn it off. There is no A/C, at least not that we saw. However, it does not seem to get hot there, so with the window open, not an issue. The bathroom had a small tub/shower but nice fan and great water pressure. The TV worked fine. The first morning, we checked out the complimentary breakfast. You have to walk across Surfcrest St into another compound called Lodges at Cannon Beach and back in the corner is the breakfast room (there is a sign that leads the way). However, we were not impressed. Except for the sausage, biscuits, muffins, and juice, we were not impressed. There were no scrambled eggs that morning, just hard boiled. I'm not a fan of biscuits and gravy. They don't have a waffle maker, so the waffles had been sitting out and, for us, not edible. Ultimately, we skipped the breakfast the next two mornings. Housekeeping did a great job of cleaning and tidying up our room each day. We appreciated that. Besides the unimpressive breakfast, I only had one other issue. About dusk the frogs start up in the pond at the center of the garden area where most rooms overlook. They are continuous and loud, so that we had to close the window to be able to sleep. There is a fan in the room, but we like fresh air and were unable to enjoy it. Overall, we were happy with the Inn At Cannon Beach. read more

I was looking for a single Knight day and remembered in a Cannon Beach from once upon a time. I arrived around 3 o'clock and was happy to find my room was ready to go. Check in experience with Elizabeth was super smooth Scott was there his back up. I was shown a map including a list of places to eat and told about the wonderful DVD selection they have and how to find the menu for it online. I was also offered cookies that were not just for checking in but anytime during this day. I decided I probably want to try each of them just, you know, for research purposes. Happy to find a bag of saltwater taffy in the room and a comfortable table to work or dine at in a sunny nook of the room. The bathroom area is spacious, though the tub was out of commission which also was reflected in the room rate. There was a shower which makes things speedier and some nice bath amenities especially the bath salts. Fireplace in the room with a TV screen that doesn't dominate. Conveniently there was a small kitchenette area with a microwave and Keurig as well as mini fridge. All the things that matter when you're on a quick trip. The grounds are beautifully kept. Maybe because it was a sunny day or maybe just because everything about the area seemed quite well cared for including the rocking bench and the bird feeders where is the nearest feather friends actually feed. The attention to natural details is lovely. One more thing. I thought I had dropped my cars keys accidentally in rhe parking area and Chelsea was very helpful searching for them. Our last trip was so memorable. We are now in the process of planning our next trip. Came down here with my wife during the off-season and we were celebrating a special anniversary. I contacted the office in advance and asked if they could work with a local florist to have a nice bouquet in the room when we arrived. They exceeded my expectations with a beautiful arrangement and were very happy to help. The property is easy to locate and very well maintained. Throughout our stay, there were rabbits running wild on the grounds. The location is less than half a mile from Haystack rock. The rooms are great with an in room fireplace and a nice little patio. Complementary breakfast in the morning and these folks are great to work with. A great overall experience and well worth it. read more

This is such a charming, beautiful place off the beaten path. It's across the street from the beach, but a three minute walk. It is not in the center of town. It is super quiet at night. I thought the experience was extraordinary. I would describe it as comfortable, peaceful, and tranquil. The staff and the owner must really love animals. You can see the care and thoughtfulness and every single thing they do. Our dog felt so welcomed and so loved. They have games and beach toys for kids. They have treats and welcome baskets for the dogs that are so sweet. I love how they thought of extra sheets to put on the bed or couch for the dog. We didn't do that, because our dog does not sleep on the furniture... But I thought it was really full of thought. I thought they're soaps and lotion were very moisturizing too. They individually wrap their Q-tips... I can tell they care about everything being sanitized and perfectly clean. I really felt like I got away in a log cabin, it's so cute and every room has its own little patio. The grounds are exceptionally beautiful and tranquil. I love the birdfeeders for the sparrows, the cute black bunnies that run around the entire property and how they support their trees with wood sticks are we and they even cover their pond so predators won't eat the frogs. These people obviously care very much about the environment, and it shows in all the little things they do. The individually wrapped bags of ice were also a nice touch. We loved the staff. I would stay here again. My husband wanted to be closer to town... But we wrote our bikes on one day and we walked the next day... We got 15,000 steps in on the day we walked, so it is not for everyone. I loved being just a little bit outside of the hustle, bustle town. The only thing I might try to improve, would be the breakfast in the morning... There is definitely not enough coffee. They can't keep up with how much coffee people want. Another gentleman, who was a guest and I, troubleshooted the coffee problem on both days... I can tell the staff is working very hard, but the food is kind of boring and bland... It is a nice spread for "free" but if you want a really delicious breakfast, skip this and just go into town. We were grateful to have a free meal for the big walk into town... but is was very boring/bland - and I think I would rather have more delicious calories. However, don't let that discourage you... The place is very, very charming. Saying all that I still consider this place exceptional. read more

We will continue to stay at the Inn in Cannon Beach every vacation. We have stayed twice now and it's been perfect. The front desk is always helpful with giving us suggestions on fun things to do, they have loads of board games for the family.... Just ask to see the list, and they love pets! The pets are treated just as great as the humans. They made the rooms extra special for our anniversary. The property is always beautifully maintained and it's so nice walking out your door to bunnies running around. Don't forget that they make bagels and cookies every day! They are all equally yummy. They have this place perfected. It's the spot for a relaxing trip, a romantic vacation, or a family get together. We are already planning our next trip back. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. We usually stay in the downtown area of Cannon Beach so we can walk to all our favorite haunts, but a last minute trip had us being a little less choosy. So we ended up at the Inn at Cannon Beach. I don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else. I don't even know where to start. The place is adorable and well kept. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms clean, and the service impeccable. The location is fantastic, right across from the beach and next to several excellent businesses for dining, groceries, and coffee. On entering, we were greeted by kind employees who genuinely seemed happy to see us. They offered fresh cookies, coffee, saltwater taffy, and passes to the local yoga classes or gym. I'm sick to death to hotels raising prices and lowering service. But all the little things that used to make traveling relaxing were in place here. Check in was earlier than most places, and check out was later, too. There was a dog fee, but it actually felt like we got something for our fee. Both of our dogs were greeted with a bowl, treats, towels, and bed covers. Plus, they lower the fee if you donate (human) food! The breakfast was huge and had lots of options. And they didn't charge little fees for every little thing. Plus, their rates are excellent. My one complaint is that we only got to stay one night. Update to the response from the owner ! If you cared about our stay , we would have had a refund , not 80.00 . A 20 % discount for next stay is worthless ! We lost more than that in groceries ! Very poor customer service We have stayed here before without any issues. They have very cozy beds and are very clean rooms. This last visit , we had an ant invasion that caused our dog food and groceries to have to be thrown out and when we saved what we could in the mini fridge , it froze all our food and drinks. Many things we had to throw away . I called management , they offered an ant bait trap, I did not want this with my dog in the room. When I reported the loss of our groceries , the manger offered us an 80.00 credit :( did not seem fair for the price we paid for the room . Don't know if we will be back read more

The Inn at Cannon Beach provided a charming stay. It was quiet, the bunnies were fun to watch, it was a quick walk to the beach. The on site breakfast was very good. We had planned on staying just two nights, but extended our stay to four nights. For whatever the reason our room needs a little TLC. The thermostat didn't adjust, so the room was quite warm at times. The shower was slippery (needs a hand rail), the shower curtain didn't contain the water (so we had wet soggy bath mat & very wet slippery floor). The back of the hair dryer's fan, grabbed my hair (ouch). But, all in all it was the perfect spot for a few quiet days of getting away. read more

We started off our stay with Inn at Cannon Beach on a very good note. We had originally booked two nights in their premium king suite, but schedules opened and we decided to stay a third. Unfortunately, the room we had for the first two nights wasn't t available, so we decided to take what we could and transfer for the last night. While waiting for our room check-in we went on a hike. Unfortunately, during the hike back my husband fell and injured himself quite badly. At first, he insisted we continue on with our stay. We checked into the room, but after about half an hour, it became apparent we needed to consider going to a clinic and head home. I went to the front desk to let them know we would be leaving. Let me say, I did not go there with expectations we would be reimbursed, however, the woman at the desk suggested we finish taking our luggage out of the room and she would see what they could do for us. Again, this was totally unprompted, but the suggestion was there they might do something to help out. After loading the car and getting my husband comfortable I headed back to the lobby with our room key. The minute I entered the lobby I noticed the woman I had spoken to was not there, but the manager was along with another employee, and the manager was clearly ready for me. Simply said, her demeanor was horrible. She flatly said there would be no refund. Mind you we were in the room for less than an hour and had not even sat on the bed. Nonetheless, I realized the situation was not ideal, and as I said, except for the words of the receptionist I had no expectations. We absolutely knew we would be at the mercy of the inn and their good will. The point is the manager was not reflective of the experience we started off with when we came to the inn. As I entered the lobby with no intention of having a conflict, the manager seemed quite the opposite. I will say it was hard not feeling as though I was being set up for a confrontation. Additionally, the manager seemed to feel the need to embarrass me in front of her employee. It was uncomfortable for both of us as her employee was side eyeing me waiting for my response. I left without objection. The receptionist I encountered when I first came to the lobby and let them know we needed to leave was very cordial and sympathetic. The manager I ended with was flat and cold and showed no concern or empathy for my husband. Needless to say, it was a very sour note to leave with after the afternoon we were navigating. Later that evening I received an emailed invoice after the long drive home. When all was said and done, we spent about $1250.00 for our two-night stay. Money we were willing to pay for our Cannon Beach getaway but not the one where we were expecting to pay for while being treated with such a condescending and dismissive attitude. What a stressful day! With this said, we'll be back to Cannon Beach, just not to any of the properties owned by this company. Restaurants and all. read more

We have stayed here now multiple times. Really nice place with great rooms, awesome service and an easy walk to the beach. The rooms are very clean and very nice. The grounds are nice and it is such a bonus to see the rabbits. Easy walk to the beach, Fresh Foods and Sea Level Bakery which are all awesome. Super service and the breakfast is good. We tried this a few years ago after staying at the Ocean Lodge multiple times. These are related and both are great. Less expensive at the Inn and we don't mind the short walk to the beach. I will attempt to be brief. This was our 2nd visit as we had a very nice time a year ago. This Inn serves a hot breakfast on premises in a dining area. As I think many people do, we set our DND sign to 'do not disturb' and set out to breakfast. Upon arriiving back at the room two housekeeping men were hurriedly leaving our room. OUR ROOM! We checked our things quickly...all valuables were left around the room in plain sight (our mistake). Our quick review didn't unveil anything missing. I ran down the men and questioned them with their only grudgingly uttered response 'sorry'. We decided to pack and leave even though we were booked for one more nite. BEWARE! Lock your valuables in the trunk of your car or other suitably safe place but DO NOT LEAVE THEM IN THE ROOM!! Not here anyway. *Remember: your credit cards, DL, etc. may still be there but info may have been copied or written down and is now out there to be used by others. BEWARE! read more

I am SO glad we decided on this inn to stay at for our Cannon Beach getaway. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful and the inn has so many accommodations included with the stay. The free parking, breakfast, welcome gift, and daily cookies were some of the little things that make us want to come back. The rooms are large and the bathroom is a perfect size and everything was exceptionally clean. It's also a short walk to the beach, so it's perfectly located. This was my second visit to this nice hotel, but maybe I'll try someplace else next time. The grounds are outstanding, and the big beautiful beach is a short walk right across a fairly busy road. It's maybe a ten minute drive to "downtown" Cannon Beach. The rooms are nice, although they seem as if they could use a refreshing. And there were ants--our bathroom had ants had an ant trail going on. Breakfast was included for us, and it was OK. If you've ever stayed at Hampton Inn of other hotel of that type, you know what the breakfast was like. Parking is easy, lots of spaces and you're probably going to find a place right in front of your room. We did have an unpleasant check in experience. We had reserved three rooms and arrived at about 3.30 or so only to be told that two of our rooms were ready and that the third one would be done in15 minutes or so. I told the receptionist we'd wait in the small lobby right in front of the check in desk until the last room was done. She said she'd let me know when it was done. So we waited, and waited, and waited, until another receptionist noticed us and asked if she could help us. I explained that we were waiting for one room of three to be made available. She checked her computer and told me it was finished and available now. The other receptionist was no where in sight, and I guess we would have been waiting forever to hear from her. It's a small irritating thing that didn't have to happen and reflects poorly on staff training. read more

Perfect Stay | Excellent Location, Food, and Front Desk Wow. It cannot get any better than this. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here and plan to come back. Checkin was quick and easy. They gave us cookies and a nice sand bucket for my daughter to use at the beach! Bunnies were out. My daughter loved seeing them run around. Our room was 124, which was perfect for our needs. We wanted a first-floor room, non-pet room, and it was close to where we parked. The place is really nice and inviting. We stayed here on a weekday, so it was pretty quiet. We never heard our neighbors. Our floors creaked a little, but that really didn't bother us because we were on the first floor and never heard anyone above us and/or next to us. I think the neighbors were very quiet. We didn't even hear any tv noise. Beds are comfortable. EXTREMELY CLEAN. Wow, I was so impressed! Bright white linens and bedding. I have OCD and usually cringe at the lack of good cleaning hotel bathrooms get, but this place is spotless. (I really appreciate it, thank you!) Shower amenities provided. Body mirror. Small kitchenette area with coffee and fridge. TV with DVD player. The best part was the location to the beach. We walked over to the beach, which was only a few minutes. Complimentary breakfast was excellent! They serve real eggs, not that fake liquid stuff--yuck! The ommellete is good. I really liked their muffin too. My husband would bring back a lot of food to the room: bananas, cheese sticks, cereal, muffins, ommellete, waffles, sausages, biscuit and gravy, coffee, hard-boiled eggs...etc. Checkout is at 12 and they gave us cookies again. It's a beautiful place to spend your vacation. We really enjoyed our stay at Inn Cannon Beach. It's situated so close to all the attractions yet away from crowds. It's very relaxing and welcoming. The staff here are awesome and they really go out of their way to make your stay worth it. Each Unit has a special touch and nice view. It's feels like home. The famous HayStack Rock is walkable from this place. They provide daily breakfast. Unlike other places, this place had great selections. They had fresh fruits, yummy yogurts, biscuits, gravy with mushrooms, sausage, waffles, pancakes, bagels with cream cheese, cereals, muffins, variety of teas, hot chocolate, Apple cider, orange juice, milk, and let's not forget their Tully's coffee, that kept me going throughout our stay. Our room had a porch like area where we sat and looked over their garden with little bunnies roaming around. We also had refrigerator, microwave, & fireplace. It felt like home. We even got daily newspaper. This place also provides beach chairs, beach towels, buckets for building sandcastles, kites, & during the summer they have BBQ for lunch on Saturdays, which we got invited to. Oh wait! They also have fresh baked cookies & coffee at the front office all day all night. I must of eaten a dozen. (j/k). We are for sure coming back. Oregon Coast Roadtrip is not complete without staying at Inn Cannon Beach. We love everything about it. read more

I really enjoyed this property. It has a beautiful location, the grounds are neat and well kept. The rooms are spacious, well thought out, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace as temperatures were on the chilly side. The breakfast offered was good with many choices. And then we went to bed....... Urrrrrrg. The mattress was nothing short of a brick and the pillows were simply not okay. So what would have otherwise been an outstanding review, the bedding killed it for me. read more

We weren't able to reserve a spot directly from them. We went through Expedia and it was a success. The place is adorable with a small pond and nice garden set up. There are ton of bunnies running around. It was fun to look at and made me smile a lot. I was happy with my experience here. The rooms are big- we had enough room with our one spoiled fur. We ended up with two beds and I got to keep one all to myself. How comfy I was. They provided with most toiletries except for toothpaste. It's a good thing I'm always prepared. I enjoyed the Soapbox branded hair shampoo and conditioner plus the body wash. The shower head was the selling point. We had plenty of towels too. Everything was well thought out. I will do this again another time. A walking distance and very close to the Haystack. I highly recommend. Staff is great as well in the phone and in-person . When we got here, we were given some treats for our dog as well as sheets for comfort. Last but not the least, hot breakfast was provided every morning. A well balanced breakfast-the works. This was a really nice place. Spacious room with a comfy bed, fridge and microwave and I loved the bunnies that were all over the property. The staff was nice and there were fresh homemade cookies in the lobby. However there were some downsides to this place. My room was by the breakfast room, but the door by the parking lot was broken so I had to go in and out through the breakfast room. The tables were situated so that it made it really awkward getting in and out. I also didn't like being on the first floor because I felt like every person who walked by could see into my room so I had to keep the blinds closed all the time. I wasn't crazy about the breakfast because there weren't a lot of choices. I also wish that they had left the tea and hot chocolate out all the time. It would have been nice to have access to it at other times. I might stay here again in the future, hopefully in a room on a higher floor read more

Just left after four fabulous days at this inn. We cannot praise it high enough. The accommodations were perfect for us and our rescue's first trip. The staff were amazing. To top if all off we had four glorious days of sunshine, warmer temperatures (for us anyway), and no wind---in January!! Blessed indeed! read more

This place is AMAZING. Hospitality was a ten, cleanliness was a ten, atmosphere was a ten. I have no negative things to say. Staff was helpful in sharing all their knowledge of local food and sights, the atmosphere of the courtyard was welcoming and cozy, they keep seed out for the birds, which you can see plenty of, and all kinds of bunnies, and frogs and fish in their pond make the grounds so comfortable. Amazing little coffee shop right across the street, which is a plus. I would choose this place over a chain hotel anytime. Also the lobby area was always welcoming, with saltwater taffy and AMAZING cookies and even more amazing staff. I know I'm raving but seriously I would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

On the fence if I'll book here again next year. Have visited a couple times prior to now with family and have always had an enjoyable time. This time we stayed 4days/3nights and they didn't finish cleaning our room before check in as they left a pizza box with half eaten pizza in the kitchenette for us to dispose of. The continental was disappointing due to a lack of freshness. French toast was dry and with plastic utensils made it hard to cut through. The biscuits and gravy as well as the oatmeal was on the watery side. The fruit also looked and tasted as if it was a few days past best buy date. It's still a short walk to the beach which deserves a star and besides the kitchenette everything else seemed to have been cleaned. At checkout we had a surprise charge for the additional rollaway bed we originally requested, but didn't end up needing and we don't recall them relaying there would be an additional charge. What disappointed me was the customer service at checkout. They asked how the stay was and when we relayed the pizza box incident and the lack of freshness in continental we get an "oh okay, I'll relay it to the manager." A simple that's horrible! If I could give ten stars I would give 20! Everything was super clean and luxurious! We had a pet friendly room with a sliding door to inner courtyard with a fire pit. They have wild bunnies on the property and elk came to graze near our room! The place is so close to the beach! They had taffy for us in our room and offered cookies at the reception desk. Breakfast was phenomenal! Eggs, French toast, sausages, waffles, yogurt, cereal. The oatmeal alone was hot and delicious! One day they had biscuits with gravy! They had pet baskets for our two dogs. If you get a second floor room it looked like they all had balconies. My husband said he found his happy place! We will be back! read more

Pros 1. Property is well maintained and exterior areas are beautiful. 2. Good location and easy beach access. 3. Decent continental breakfast. 4. Lots of towels. Cons 1. Since it is dog friendly, expect the sounds of barking dogs at all hours of the night. 2. Rooms are very outdated. For yhos price point would expect updated furnishings. 3. There is virtually no counter space to put items on. The dresser holds the tv, the nightstand has a huge lamp and the little sink area is taken up by the Keurig. Consider mounting the large tv on the wall. 4. The pilot light remains on for the fireplace so it was very hot in the room in June. Had to open the doors to sleep and be comfortable in the room. What a wonderful place to stay! My husband and I came here for a mini honeymoon, and we could not have picked a more beautiful, quiet, special place. The staff had cute little bride and groom rubber ducks, saltwater taffy, and candy coated pretzels in the room along with a note that said, "Champagne awaits you in the fridge." What?! That is beyond making your guests feeling special. That is next level customer service. The young man who took the reservation was incredible, listened carefully to everything I said and asked, and then must have passed it along that we had just gotten married. Incredibly impressed. The woman who checked us in was so warm and welcoming. That set the tone immediately.The rooms are immaculately cleaned. As a former housekeeping manager I used to personally inspect every single room cleaned that morning before it could be occupied, and I am very detail oriented and particular. So, I know a clean room- and these rooms are clearly being cleaned by an amazing staff! The complimentary breakfast is just the icing on the cake. So many choices! Besides having a hot offering which ranges from eggs, sausages, and oatmeal, there are a variety of breads along with waffles, bagels, fruit salad, hard boiled eggs, coffee cake, muffins, cold cereal, different juices, hot chocolate, and coffee. Obviously you will not leave hungry. What a fabulous place to stay. Highly recommend, and we are making Cannon Beach an annual getaway and will ONLY stay at the Inn at Cannon Beach. P.S. Had a wonderful stay here a few years back. Pet friendly! The staff were very welcoming with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The room was very clean and nicely put together. Comfy bed and a tv great for watching movies (you can borrow those from the front desk). The outside area is beautiful! If in the area again, I will 100% be back! We recently stayed at the Inn and had the most amazing stay, our first time staying here but several times we visited Cannon Beach and surrounding areas. The room was perfect and cozy, had everything you could need. The grounds were relaxing as well as inviting, we enjoyed the many bunnies on the property. The breakfast each morning was fantastic and delicious. We also enjoyed the full time coffee and freshly baked cookies.
