Happy hour wine tasting with snacks
    Adrianna S.

We LOVED our stay at The Ocean Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home and cared for. Someone immediately came out and helped us with our luggage, told us he needed to hurry up and get us on vacation because happy hour had already started! Hahaha The room was great. Loved the view and the fireplace the most. We loved the sound of the waves, putting us to sleep every night. The community felt so safe. We loved walking around. The little touches at The Ocean Lodge like the cookies, wine tasting, wine at night, truffles were all so nice. We loved on bonfire on the beach. Thank you for setting it up! A And we really felt at home when we were leaving and the front desk encouraged us to take snacks for the road. Such a nice little touch. Felt like something my mom would do.

    Thoughtful birthday note from staff

This place is AMAZING! We went for my birthday for the first time. (They even had a balloon, salt water taffy, and a thoughtful card on the bed waiting for me). I usually don't break things down but there is A LOT to mention about this awesome place. Location: Can't get any better. Right on the beach. Walk out your door and it is right there. Room: We stayed in premier room (107) and it was incredible. Spacious room with little kitchenette (bowls, plates, silverware, glasses, corkscrew, microwave, etc). Separate seating area with fold out couch and folding table to eat at. That came in helpful for when we got pizza and ate in the room. King bed (firm) with many pillows to choose from. Fireplace. Bathroom with deep jetted tub, amazing shower with multiple different heads/jets, HEATED floor. Outdoor patio with Adirondack chairs with spectacular breathtaking view. Breakfast: Continental with rotation heated main item (cheese omelette one day and scrambled eggs/sausage another). Pastries, yogurts, juices, fruit, cereals - all you really need. Amenities: Wine reception from 4-6 each night was wonderful. Red and white options with soda and water as well. Nightcap from 7-9 is AWESOME!!!! They come to your room with port wine or sparkling cider to choose from and chocolate truffles!!!! One night we were going to be out during nightcap and I asked Elizabeth if she would leave it in the room for us and she did!! Fresh cookies everyday 24/7 at front desk, complimentary snacks in lobby (candy bars, chips, jerky, water - things usually other places charge you for), '57 BelAir car to drive you into town if needed, and housekeeping (if requested). SUPER dog friendly. Staff: Angel checked us in and was so nice and helpful with dining suggestions. Elizabeth was the wine reception/nightcap hostess who truly needs to be acknowledged by their management. Her kindness, smile, and friendliness truly made our trip memorable. Beth at check out was just as wonderful (and even gave us cookies for the road!) I have to admit that I am a picky person and do a lot of research on places to stay and eat (sometimes too much). Ocean Lodge is one of the best places I have ever stayed at. I just cannot say enough. We certainly will be returning!!!!

    Our view from our room.

Magical first experience to the coast. The room was beautiful, as was the overall experience. Wine and treats and just a very welcoming staff. Looking forward to returning soon. 10/10

I have enjoyed everything about my stay here. The entire staff is warm and friendly but a special shout out to Keith!!!

The online reservation was accepted without informing us that we would have to change rooms mid-stay. We stayed 6 nights and brought our parents along to stay in another room for 5 nights. At the end of our stay, they couldn't even accommodate a 1/2 hour late check out. I felt extending this courtesy would have been a nice gesture given the time our party spent at the hotel and the inconvenient room change that was initially hidden from us. The hotel staff is wonderful, just don't expect anything from management. The hotel need not prepare a canned response to this review like: "Thank you for sharing your feedback.  We are so sorry for your disappointing stay. Our team is usually very sensitive to reported issues, and resourceful in finding swift resolutions; and we are so sorry that was not your experience with us.  Your comments will assist in our growth and improved service, and we truly hope we'll have an opportunity to provide a more relaxing getaway on your next visit. Thank you." If you truly cared about your guests, you would address situations like these when they are brought it to your attention, multiple times, at the hotel.

I stayed here in April for a few days with a friend and two very excited doggos! I just LOVE this wonderful property!! The ground level, ocean view, king room was well appointed with comfortable seating options, a large flat screen, DVD player with a comprehensive lending library, a lovely gas fireplace, and pleasant, albeit somewhat typical beach hotel decor. The linens and towels are high quality, crisp, cool sheets with a high weave count, and large, soft, fluffy towels! There was no bleach smell or unnatural fabric softener scent, just clean and lovely towels and bedding! The mattress was like a cloud! I have a very high end mattress at home and this bed felt just as good. I also appreciated pillows of variable firmness on the bed. The check-in process was fast, friendly, informative, and so welcoming. Hot, fresh coffee, cookies (varieties rotate daily) and dog treats are always available in the lobby and every night wine is generously poured at happy hour. In the room there was a welcome basket with treats, toys, poo bags, food dishes, and blankets for both dogs! The inclusive breakfast offerings were tasty, varied, and more than sufficient to provide multiple hot and cold options daily. Not ideal for a vegan but other dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegetarian, diabetic) are adequately accommodated. I really appreciated the large, sturdy trays available to allow guests the option to dine in-room with minimal difficulty. The location is absolutely stunning! My ground level room had a sliding glass door opening to a patio (with 2 Adirondack deck chairs) situated on a grassy bluff poised a few feet above sea level. The sand mere steps from the patio. Haystack Rock rising out of the Pacific to the north affords guests of The Ocean Lodge that quintessential Cannon beach view that brought you here. This hotel is the very definition of ideal location! Considering the high cost of the mediocre options in Seaside it's no wonder why this hotel is booked weeks in advance. Do yourself a favor, plan ahead and stay here!! One evening we left the dogs for an hour to have dinner in town. Shortly after placing out order I received a call from the hotel because the dogs were incessantly barking disturbing another guest. The call from the hotel, potentially upsetting on multiple levels, was handled politely, discretely, and with obvious genuine concern for the dogs. There wasn't even a hint of condemnation, annoyance, or judgement from the hotel. At check out, generously extended to 2:00 PM, I found I ran my battery down by accidentally leaving the headlights on overnight. I barely finished telling the front desk what happened when a maintenance worker seemingly materialized out of thin air with a solution. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. AAA quoted 2 hours! This property offers an elevated service at a reasonable price point. The Ocean Lodge is an outstanding choice when visiting Cannon Beach! I won't consider staying anywhere else!

On the main drag of S Hemlock, a short walk to a grocery store, Tolovana State Recreation Area, and the beach, as well as a few restaurants. The compound is a series of buildings with rooms that you enter from the outside. We were upstairs with our balcony overlooking the garden, which was nice. The day we checked in, the woman at the front desk was helpful, but for me, with a hearing deficit, she talked fast and I relied on my wife to interpret for me. No big deal, though. They offer cookies individually wrapped, which is a nice touch. In the lobby are tea and coffee. Our room had double queen beds, was clean, and had all the amenities: mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. Strangely, we found that our heater was on, and we had to investigate how to turn it off. There is no A/C, at least not that we saw. However, it does not seem to get hot there, so with the window open, not an issue. The bathroom had a small tub/shower but nice fan and great water pressure. The TV worked fine. The first morning, we checked out the complimentary breakfast. You have to walk across Surfcrest St into another compound called Lodges at Cannon Beach and back in the corner is the breakfast room (there is a sign that leads the way). However, we were not impressed. Except for the sausage, biscuits, muffins, and juice, we were not impressed. There were no scrambled eggs that morning, just hard boiled. I'm not a fan of biscuits and gravy. They don't have a waffle maker, so the waffles had been sitting out and, for us, not edible. Ultimately, we skipped the breakfast the next two mornings. Housekeeping did a great job of cleaning and tidying up our room each day. We appreciated that. Besides the unimpressive breakfast, I only had one other issue. About dusk the frogs start up in the pond at the center of the garden area where most rooms overlook. They are continuous and loud, so that we had to close the window to be able to sleep. There is a fan in the room, but we like fresh air and were unable to enjoy it. Overall, we were happy with the Inn At Cannon Beach.

Check in experience with Elizabeth was super smooth Scott was there his back up. I was shown a map including a list of places to eat and told about the wonderful DVD selection they have and how to find the menu for it online. I was also offered cookies that were not just for checking in but anytime during this day. I decided I probably want to try each of them just, you know, for research purposes. Happy to find a bag of saltwater taffy in the room and a comfortable table to work or dine at in a sunny nook of the room. The bathroom area is spacious, though the tub was out of commission which also was reflected in the room rate. There was a shower which makes things speedier and some nice bath amenities especially the bath salts. Fireplace in the room with a TV screen that doesn't dominate. Conveniently there was a small kitchenette area with a microwave and Keurig as well as mini fridge. All the things that matter when you're on a quick trip. The grounds are beautifully kept. Maybe because it was a sunny day or maybe just because everything about the area seemed quite well cared for including the rocking bench and the bird feeders where is the nearest feather friends actually feed. The attention to natural details is lovely. One more thing. I thought I had dropped my cars keys accidentally in rhe parking area and Chelsea was very helpful searching for them. Appreciate the thoughtful staff very much.

After receiving some difficult news we thought we would go to our happy place at Cannon Beach. With a last min booking - room options were limited. Once we arrived, I asked about the possibility of a different room, only to find out they were fully booked. The next day, I went to the front desk to inquire of another room option for us with an ocean view! They had one! The gentleman at the front desk even helped me change rooms by hauling our belongings up the steps to the second floor. I do appreciated their help and accommodations. We had a wonderful stay - so did Duke and Tino, as it was their first time at the beach! The rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. The staff goes above and beyond!

However, personally, I have not felt welcome here,…read moreand I also observe that many of the stated amenities or "perks" are not available, not working, or just not.....it's been death by a thousand cuts for me, and it's on top of the multiple racial micro aggressions I've experienced in this town in less than 24 hours. 1. Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal.

As my…read moreprevious review states, the view is incredible and it's always a fantastic stay every time. I wanted to add some details: You get 1 parking spot per room for the duration of your stay which is amazing and quite literally feet away from the famous haystack entrance. Bigger cars might prefer more ideal spots along the sides of the parking lot to reduce congestion of the entrance but those are limited. So plan the times you leave accordingly. Their booking system is different from anywhere else we've stayed. For the dates you stay, at check out, you get dibs on the same dates the following year. Which is why many guests have maintained the same reservation for many years. (That is also why it is always booked out) We see some of the same people every year which is also cool! It will require a $100 deposit which will be deducted from your total if choose not to book the following year. Otherwise that same deposit rolls over year after year. I found the full size refrigerator amazing for new moms who breastfeed and need to freeze their milk. I was able to continue my breastfeeding journey on vacation which I'm grateful for. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need; silverware, dishes, new sponge, dish soap, salt & pep, roasting pan, frying pan, pots, cast iron skillet, microwave, oven, coffee etc. So for families with small children, this also means snacks & mealtimes can be cooked inside your room. (We stop at Costco in Warrenton on the drive over!) If you want the biggest room, choose room #5. It is up a flight of stairs so keep that in mind. It's so spacious. There's a back room with 2 queen size beds, tv & vanity. That's where our kids sleep and plenty of room to play. Bonus, there a door separating the main part of the room where there is another queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and of course, the killer view. They are very strict (as they should be) about fire department requirements regarding how many people can be in each room. There are zero exceptions to maximum capacity. So book accordingly, not based on how many beds there are. Children are included in that count. There is no traditional turn down service but clean towels are provided every morning if you wish. Guests are asked (or have been in the past via the handbook) to remove their own trash which is right under the stairs requiring little to no effort. Also to remove shoes at the door to prevent sand buildup on the carpets as it's difficult to remove. Out of respect for Rosa (who we love) and her staff, we make sure the room is clean of any dishes, garbage before we check out as well as stripping the sheets and leaving on the bed for easier turn down for the next guest. Dogs are allowed on the property granted you pickup after them & remain respectful. No leaving dog unattended. The lower rooms have direct access to the backyard for easy potty breaks. The weather here is kinda funny in the earlier months of the year because it will forecast rain the whole week and be sunny/beautiful for at least half the day. That said, it is windy sometimes with king tides so walks on the beach are dependent on that. Hope this helps! Check that website for opening dates and may the odds be in your favor!!
