Newport Bay Candle has them all... scented candles, triple scented wax melts, bath salts, car scents, all handmade right here in Newport OR. The candles are a little pricey but the sweet elderly lady in charge of the store mentioned that they last long. The candles were made of gel (not wax) and that I was told they have a smaller flame allowing it to burn 2-3x longer than traditional wax candles. Hmm... this was the first time I've seen candles made of gel. I didn't know that the Factory Store is located just a few miles from Newport's Historic Bay Front store. From printing to pouring they are made locally at their factory store. I would've been interested in seeing where the magic happened and come watch them pour the candles. And when I say, a metaphysical store hates to see me coming (or maybe loves to see me coming) because I always leave with something!! They are truly one of my favorite types of stores to visit because I always find something that I can use to feed my mind, body and soul. On this particular visit, I left with a couple protection stones, the tiger's eye and the tourmalated quartz. With the current state of the world, this country in particular, and just every day life stressors, the added protection, is not only needed but welcomed. So, I was happy to add these stones to my ever growing collection. The price points were good - and the packaging is really cute. The store owner is super sweet. She allowed us time to really look around even despite the fact that she was preparing to close for the day. My overall experience, while brief and only once, was really good. And of course I find a lot of things I don't need, too! One of my favorite t-shirts came from here; it's got their store logo, which is an adorable little steampunk anglerfish. I'm so obsessed that I got a sticker with the same logo on it this trip (also, they have a lot of awesome stickers). On top of that, the staff are super friendly and welcoming! There's one delightful woman who has been there the last couple times, and she's a joy to chat with. I wish I had asked her name. I work retail myself, and she exudes the same warmth I try to give to all of my customers, too. It's not always an easy job, but you can tell when someone genuinely wants to make customers feel at home in their space and takes pride in their job. Also, I'm really obsessed with coming back and getting an anglerfish sweatshirt now.

At Cap'n Gull's, there are so many gifts to choose from, ranging from magnets to shirts to snow globes. My goal is to bring back a snow globe from each city that I visit, and I ended up finding a cute one with a beach chair and umbrella inside. I also picked up a beach magnet, a Christmas ornament, and a street sign with my name on it. My boyfriend picked up several items as well. He got himself a shirt, a beer bottle opener, a basset hound magnet, and a beagle and a basset hound description photo frame. The total for all of these came out to about $100 or so. It's located on the 101 freeway right across the street from Kyllo's and the beach access parking lot, so you literally cannot miss it. You'll find almost everything from A to Z here.
