Delicious Majarete corn pudding made by The Family Cake Co., a local RI bakery. Found in the cooler in the back where the pies are located.

For international foodies, I would definitely recommend coming here to explore Portuguese, Brazilian, Latin, and Caribbean foods. There's a very reasonably priced self-serve buffet at the back. The food is authentic and made from scratch. I love the flavorful Portuguese rice, which is packed with veggies. The Homestyle beef dishes and empanadas are amazing! Unfortunately, the selection of dishes is very unpredictable. They haven't served the beef dishes I've tried in weeks. Often, the quality and selection of hot foods are poor. I was told by the workers to contact Sonia the cook to inquire about the menu. The egg custard and coconut custard pies are good, unbeatably priced at around $5. I discovered, for the first time, delicious Majarete corn pudding (made and distributed by The Family Cake Co., a local RI bakery), which is a popular dessert in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Cuba. I'm addicted to this!! The Majarete is located in the same cooler as the custard pies. I also come to this store for scallions and cilantro, which are only .69 cents per bunch. Usually very fresh. There's a dining area in the front close to the restrooms. Coffee is complimentary, though not tasty like Dave's. Sometimes there are complimentary treats at the tables, as well.

Shame on you for charging $8 for a dozen eggs. You are more expensive than all other markets in the area.

The best selection and value for seafood and take home ready made Portuguese dishes. The cod cakes are like my mom's.

Not the cleanest store, produce isn't so good but I can find some unusual items here including a variety of spices.

Maruichi Japanese Food & Deli - 50% off sushi

Visited for the first time yesterday with two of my daughters who wanted to check out this Japanese…read moreMarket. Maruichi is bright, clean, and well organized. They have a nice selection of all types of Japanese food, including refrigerated, frozen, and shelf staples. Lots of candy and snacks too, as well as toiletry items. We were there towards the end of the day, so must of the sushi was sold out, but the items remaining in the refrigerated case looked fresh and delicious. Prices were fair for all of the items we looked at, and felt lower to us than other similar markets we've visited. Although I think that the Asian Market off of Elmwood might have lower prices on some items. In addition to the market, there is also a counter where you can order hot foods to eat there or take to go. There is a nice seating area with chairs & tables, and there is also a counter with chairs next to the window. We'll be back earlier in the day next time to see the full selection of sushi.

This PVD location feels like a smaller version of a Japanese supermarket found in Japan. The food…read moreselection is almost the same as what you will find in Japan. From soft drinks, green tea, iced coffee in a can, Japanese pickles, frozen fish and delicacies, etc. The way food isle is arranged, I think, is also very "Japanese" in an authentic way, as if I am back in Japan. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, even though I personally do not need help in translating the Japanese labels to English, whenever my wife goes there, everyone is very helpful. She works only a few blocks away in Downcity, so going there to shop or eat is super easy. She does not have to find parking there when she can simply walk there. We often go there to have our favorite - katsudon and gyudon. She loves these donnuri dishes. I showed her how to make them at home, as they are super simple to make.
