The Vancouver terminal is easy to find right behind Canada Place, just past The Drop the large blue art sculpture. ​The onboard experience is incredibly comfortable, which makes the roughly one-hour sailing fly by. The ride itself is fast but smooth, though it is worth noting that sitting backwards against the direction of travel might make you feel a little queasy, even if it is tolerable. For convenience, there are luggage racks located right by the entrance doors. The seating layout features a table for every four seats, making it easy to share space, and there are handy charging ports located at the side of each table. The vessel is also equipped with washrooms and a cafe bar for coffee and light snacks, and safety is well-covered with life vests stored right under every seat. ​Once you arrive, the trip stays seamless thanks to a free shuttle service that picks you up at the Nanaimo terminal and takes you straight into Downtown Nanaimo. It is a fantastic, hassle-free crossing that I highly recommend.

I just trusted my GPS to find a ferry, but didn't check to make sure that it went to Victoria. Shucks! It happened to be a terminal for cruise ships only. No cars allowed on the ships either! Uhg! Passengers only! (We're thought that we could Uber around Victoria without the car since could not take the car with us.) I paid by credit card in advance and will have to contact to Parking Company later to get a refund. Lesson learned.

The bus driver was very informative and the trip to the terminal was probably a 20 minute drive. The tickets include the ferry ride as well so the bus will hop on the ferry and you can hop off the bus and enjoy the 2 hour sailing to Vancouver. Afterwards the bus then dropped us off in downtown Vancouver which was conveniently located next to our hotel. I would definitely use the Connector again.

There is a lot of construction there right now and I didn't appreciate the uncertainty. After researching public transit options that didn't meet up well with ferry times I chose this option. It included the BC ferries fare so it was nice to just drive right through, wait a few min and then board the ferry on the bus. You do have to get off the bus on the ferry but even as a local I appreciated the information the driver provided about the ferry and returning to the bus. The bus was clean and appeared well maintained. The stops on the Victoria side seemed useful and thought out. I would use this service again but would definitely contact them before using that pick up point again.

It's pretty hard to tell which direction the ferry is going next though unless you're very familiar with the routes, so make sure you ask the driver just in case. I find that the ones I've interacted with all ask you where you're going before letting you on, so at least I haven't taken the wrong boat yet. They have a zone system for ticketing and at first it was a bit confusing for which zone ticket was needed to go where. But they have nice maps at each stop so it wasn't too hard to decipher after awhile. The boat drivers were also pretty nice and were happy to answer questions about tickets. I took the boats during the Big Picnic event at David Lam park. There were other people on the boat but it was not crowded at all. Boats also came all the time and so we didn't have to wait much before ours came. The boat doors were left open when I rode the boats and so it was really nice to be able to take pictures and videos without obstruction from the windows or clear screens. The creek is relatively calm most of the time and the rides are short, so most people probably won't get sea sick.

I really enjoy my time out on the water taking in everything and just seeing the skyscrapers, statues, and local happenings. It's also nice to see all the boats around. Definitely worth checking out and I can't recommend it enough!!

* Vancouver Vice *…read more Ok, so we wanted to go to Bowen Island for the day and starting looking into the options. It was either BC Ferries or Granville Island Water Taxi. To take the ferries you have to get all the way out to Horseshoe Bay, which either means catching a long bus ride from downtown or driving (including dealing with the Lion's Gate Bridge traffic) and paying a lot for parking. The ferry by itself costs about $18 round trip and then you have parking, bus, hassle, etc. on top of that. Enter Granville Island Water Taxi. It leaves from the convenient dock near the False Creek Ferry portion of the Granville Island docks. It costs only $25 round trip to Bowen Island. It was a no brainer. You can book reservations easily online for any of their trips (which generally run every 90 minutes or so). The boat is much smaller than a ferry and only holds 12 passengers. You definitely feel the speed - as the captain revs up the engines the front half of the boat lifts out of the water. Picture Miami Vice but instead of loud neon suited cops there are a bunch of west coast laid back types with their bicycles and dogs. Vancouver Vice. From GI to Snug Cove it only took about 25 minutes. It could have taken that long just to get across the Lion's Gate bridge! I wanted to explore the Queensborough neighbourhood by the river, so Q to Q Ferry was the perfect method to do it. The ferry is a 12 passenger boat with TransLink bus style seats that is capable wheelchairs, bicycles and dogs. The cost is two dollars for a one way trip for an adult. Children under five years old are free, and it's one dollar for concession: seniors 65 years and older and youth 14 to 18 and children 5 to 13 years. Just remember to bring the correct amount of money because staff don't have change. I liked how I could walk into the ferry and pay the 2 dollars and use their service right away. There was no need for reservations, and you don't have to pay at a booth. The ferry operators were friendly and helpful, and the ride was a great way to experience the currents and waves of the Fraser River with beautiful historic views of the New Westminster area.

Since the Q2Q was extended and the schedule has been expanded, my family uses it for work commutes, grocery shopping, running errands, and catching the sky train to other parts of the city. The Q2Q has changed our lives, and encouraged us to spend more time shopping and exploring New West. The real surprise is the helpful, kind, and friendly staff. The pilots and crew know the river, know the community, and have become part of our neighborhood. We're in good hands with Bowen Land and Sea Taxi, and I hope New West continues the reliable service with this outstanding company.

We bought our tickets at the Capital City Station on Douglas Street in Victoria, and Sandy was absolutely wonderful, friendly, helpful, and patient. She even got us seats for October 13, 2025, which was Thanksgiving. Every company needs a Sandy, she deserves 5 stars for her service. Once we boarded the bus, things went downhill. Our driver, James wasn't very approachable. His responses were short, and he came across as a bit grouchy. It was a holiday, so we understand, but as first-time passengers, we found his instructions unclear and he seems to not welcome questions. When the ferry docked at Tsawwassen, we didn't hear it was time to reboard the bus to continue to downtown Vancouver. We missed the announcement and ended up being left behind, but our checked bags and personal items were still in the bus to Vancouver. Thankfully, the staff at Tsawwassen terminal were great. They guided us, called ahead to Pacific Station BC Ferries, and made sure we could retrieve our bags. When we finally reunited with the bus, James didn't seem particularly concerned or empathetic, which made an already stressful situation feel worse. We blame ourselves for missing the bus. But for future improvements, clearer announcements and louder overhead speakers would help first-time travelers. Even a quick name call for missing passengers would go a long way.

We booked morning options so it was fun to watch the sun rise (with a coffee from the dining area). We also saw a few whales in the distance. Definitely recommend taking the ferry to visit Vancouver Island if you're visiting the area
