This place caught our attention with the recommendations on Yelp. Not far from us in Callahan, we trekked forward to take in the experience. Upon arrival to the area, I already knew I wanted to come back and explore the historic sites. Pulled in to a parking spot and walked over to the restaurant. As we approached the main entrance, there were signs that said they were closed for a private party. As we started looking around for alternatives, a waitress came out and said we can be served around the corner in the bar area. Away we went to the bar area. One thing was clear, while we were looking for something to eat, we were also being eaten by local inhabitants. The gnats( no seeums) were fierce. We walked in and went to the outside deck area. After seeing the can of "Off" on the table, it wasn't long before we were chased inside due to inhabitants. Once inside, again we were able to take in the historic view while deciding on our meals. Reading the reviews, it was a clear indication that the favorites were the Cajun pasta and the shrimp and grits. We elevated our selection with the blackened Red Fish and the blackened shrimp. For starters, we ordered the fried green tomatoes and the fried okra. The texture of the fried green tomato was on point. Very light cornmeal/ corn starch batter that allowed the flavor of the tomatoes to in the spot light. The crunch and the sauce paired well without taking away from the tomato. Let's talk fried Okra. Most commonly when ordered, you expect sliced rings of okra fried up nicely and served with a complimented dipping sauce. The order here arrives and it's the whole okra pod fried up. Never have I experienced that. Now I know we are in trouble because of the abundance of food being served before the main dish is served. Plowing through the appetizers, it wasn't long before the Mains were served. They looked incredible. The first bite and the wow factor was present. We closed out our experience with a slice of Key Lime Pie. read more

If i were to return I would try their entrée intead of their fried food. The biggest food highlight was the fried Tomato. We, had, a, phenomenal time. Online we got differing times for closing but decided to pop in anyway, turns out the kitchen closes at 9pm and it was 8:36pm, but the waitress said we could find a seat of our choice and they'll definitely serve us which was so great! Especially considering we were the only people eating dine-in at the time. Our waitress was super nice, we asked if we should get take-out instead but she insisted that she already had some other things to do and that we were welcome to stay. I ordered the Shrimp Basket and my friend got the Fish and Chips with an extra side of hush puppies which all tasted fantastic. The hush puppies had a hint of crab which was very good, my shrimp were delicious but I wish there were just a few more pieces. The white fish my friend got was very VERY good, delicious with no sauce and very good with the cocktail sauce it was served with. Seagle's quickly became one of our favorite places to eat. The food, atmosphere, service and the view are amazing. We recently were able to rent out the restaurant for our wedding reception and they again did not disappoint. A week later friends and family are still talking about the amazing food and the fact that chef personally came out to talk with us. The service was beyond compare and the team there have become more than just servers but are a part of our Kingsland family. This place never disappoints. So expensive. Sat outside on cheap plastic furniture. Our server was . I had the grouper (blackened) sandwich. The grouper was stiff and dry. No flavor. The Caesar salad had too much parmesan cheese. We were not offered any condiments or extra napkins and it was windy. Hubby had fried oysters. They were pretty good. Coleslaw was missing flavor. I had the most delicious blackened shrimp pasta as an entree. Even though they were out of a lot of food because of the car show, I think my pasta was the best thing I have ever eaten. I mean: delicious. It came with bread but they were out of salad. It was a Monday night at 8:00 so many restaurants were closed. We got GREAT service, great recommendations. We had some type of ice cream sandwich for dessert: nothing special. The vibe of the restaurant is fabulous & conveniently located in St. Mary's. This is our second time eating here ( back to back weeks). The Cajun pasta was out of this world! The grouper sandwich needs nothing on it. It came with the freshest lettuce and tomatoes. Just to start off, the food here is great. I'm very surprised that not that many people come here for lunch or dinner because the food doesn't take that long to get to your table and if you don't want to wait then you can order a starter to eat before your food comes. A new favorite spot!! Melissa gave us a full tour of the restaurant and bar in a historic building. We chose to sit in the dining area which looks out towards St Marys river. Fried green tomatoes were excellent lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. Entrees -- blackened scallops with cheese grits and grilled asparagus were well presented and cooked on point. Entree -- Shrimp scampi with mushrooms and cherry tomatoes served in a delightful garlic lemon sauce with pasta water added to make a flavorful broth. read more

Cool down town location. Not great service from staff! Waited a long time before a server came to get our drink order. Then another long wait to take our order. Longer wait for food to come out. We were repeatedly told that on Easter Sunday no one else in town was open and that they were understaffed and overloaded with orders and even had to slow the orders down by stopping service. That's unacceptable . I don't want to hear excuses just offer us something like some hush puppies or a salad for all of us while we waited and waited and waited. Wouldn't hurt if the server had a smile once in a while. Overall, the food was just ok..our orders came out and mine was actually was lukewarm. SMH Looked around and there were lots of empty tables, possibly three different group sitting at the same time so really no excuse for the kitchen to be so slow and no excuses . Also, the server mentioned that they ran out of food, keep in mind we had a reservation . Unfortunately, there was nowhere else to go in the town so this was our only option. Not a good look to run a business this way. They should have a staff meeting and address telling the customers that because they're so understaffed and over worked that they could not give us the service that we deserve for the money we paid. We came here on the 4th of July. While some level of chaos is expected due to extra holiday traffic, what we received was far beyond typical holiday disruption. TLDR: pasta was cold and incredibly overpriced, over hour and a half between ordering and food being delivered. Also out of more than half the menu We waited over half an hour before someone even talked to us to be seated. We were seen by many employees, but addressed by none. After the long wait we were seated at our table only to be ignored for quite a while. When we finally were able to order our drinks (just water) it took 15-20 min to get out to us. Then came ordering where we were informed they were out of pretty much everything on the menu (at least half). Again, some disruption is normal, however this is far from the first year the fourth celebrations have been with this restaurant, and I would've expected better stocking of food in preparation for the added traffic. We ended up having to order far from what we had originally wanted. We ordered nachos with chicken (out of chicken, so subbed beef), Brava pasta, and a grouper sandwich, Alfredo pasta, and a few others. We waited an hour and a half for our food, which was incredibly unexpected and caused us to miss scheduled activities. When the food came, our pasta was completely cold. Not warm at all. The sandwich was okay, but the Alfredo was subpar at best, with the only highlight being the garlic bread. The Brava pasta was so far from expectations. On the menu it was described as a spicy marinara with garlic and a few other spices. I was surprised to see what is pictured below, as that is not what I would consider marinara. In addition, this pasta was barely edible, as it was 100% spice and no flavor. Incredibly spicy, but that was the only thing you could taste. It was most definitely not worth the $24 we paid for it (portion also wasn't as large as you'd expect for $24). My husband also asked for a drink menu, but then was never given the opportunity to order a drink as our waitress was constantly running around and never paused at our table. Just stopped for a late lunch outdoors with our two pooped pups. Had some of the best service ever experienced and a very delicious meal! Be sure to try the daily seafood specials. Dined at the restuarant on 2/3/2024 at around 1:00pm. When we arrived everything was fine we got seated right and it wasn't long until they got our drink order. Drinks came out and that's when it went south the soda came out with no syrup and the second came out with just syrup. Then we ordered we waited for our appetizer for 30 minutes and then our food came out right away. Every thing looked good and was hot but to my disappointment my grouper sandwich was not edible as a sandwich. The bun was way too small and it acted like it was microwaved could not cut it with knife provided or bite it with teeth much too tough . The fries were great but there wasn't enough ketchup and by the time the server came by I had lost my appetite because the lady next to us started feeding the birds. She was feeding the birds hush puppies and shrimp tails which could both lead to intestinal/digestive issues and the consumption of bread is known to cause phantom wing in birds. None of the employees took the initiative to ask her to stop this outrageous behavior. Birds started flocking and gathering around the food tables and this caused such a disturbance while eating our meal. All in all one of the worst dining experiences ever. read more

This place is a diamond in the rough. The crab bisque 10/10 don't get the cup like me get the bowl and thank me later they give you a lot of crab. The fried green tomatoes delicious you get 5 of them. The shrimp pasta was to die for.. I added scallops to mine because why not it was prepared perfectly. It was a creamy spicy blackened situation. We sat outside with our dog on the patio but we could have sat inside they are very dog friendly here. This place was recommended by our Cumberland Island Tour guide. It didn't disappoint. Rachel E was friendly and polite. She was attentive as well as everyone there and checked regularly on us. She wasn't overbearing and it was just the right amount. The food was great! We tried the bacon jam scallops. They were flakey and flavorful. I had the crab cakes and they weren't full of fillers and you could really taste the crab. They were also soft and not crusty on the outside. The hush puppies were very good and are fluffy inside (instead of being so dense you feel like you're eating a rock) and slightly sweet. The jumbo shrimp was truly jumbo as well. The cole slaw was also quite good without being bitter or sweet. It's a dry-er slaw. They were busier by the time we left but I didn't feel like it was overly noisy in there. As a matter of fact, at least for the time we were there it was quieter than other places I've been. This was worth the stop and we're so glad our tour guide recommended this place. read more

First visit to this restaurant was a Tues. for dinner. We liked everything about it so much that we retuned for dinner Weds. , then lunch AND dinner Thursday. Just so many good things to try. Nice to see on some entrees, a choice of blackened, grilled or fried. A very good selection of "Starters", well prepared & a good amount for the price. We shared two for lunch that were delicious & more than enough, along with a beer. The staff were all super nice, efficient & food was served in a timely fashion. Love the location with a view of the River. Gotta add a note about the bar. Dalton & Rachel are fabulous at playing double roles. Tending bar & serving tables both, cheerfully! We recently at at all three of the restaurants on St. Mary's street. Food was ok in all of them. My only advice for Seagle's is to stick with beer or wine. I think they use thimbles to measure their alcohol. I'd be embarrassed to serve what they called a double Beefeater martini. Otherwise with service was fine. Ambience likewise. read more

Wow 31$ for a grade C or choice rib eye. Salmon was so fishy, not sure it was salmon. Disappointing, is an understatement. Food quality is cafeteria level. l would recommend a new vendor. I highly doubt a seasoned chef could turn this food into a dining experience worthy of 200$ value for a party of 6. 12$ appetizers should be more than previously frozen fried calamari served with commercial grade sauce in plastic cup like you get at Captain D's.
