Stopped by Southern River Walk Restaurant for an early birthday dinner for my wife and it turned out really nice. At first we ended up at the bar-only spot (easy mistake), but they quickly pointed us around the corner to the main restaurant--no hassle at all. Anna took great care of us. Super friendly, checked in just enough, not too much. They noticed it was my wife's birthday and actually made it feel special--multiple birthday wishes and a complimentary dessert for the table, which was a nice touch. Great location too. Family visited on a weekday night to play their games and have dinner. Our children range from toddler to teenager and they had fun playing pool, claw game, motorcycle game, skee-ball, and punching bag game. Pool tables are $1 per game and there's maybe 5-6 tables. My daughter won the chinese food claw game a few times and even got some jewelry so she was really excited. There's plenty of space and it's not fancy, but the kids had alot of fun and it's real laid back & casual. The lumpia was alight and the kids ate their hotdogs. Most who had the french fries liked them. I had the fried shrimp and wasn't impressed. There was thick crispy breading, but could taste alot of salt. I did not like it as much as some of the other dedicated seafood restaurants in town. The grits were just alright also. I guess my favorite was the sweet tea. The bathrooms were clean, but the soap dispensers didn't seem to work. The bartender/server was helpful and I liked the weird jukebox they had. I had identified two possibilities for lunch. A local convinced me this is a far better choice than Seagles so I took her advice. Glad I did. It's a local hangout, kind of shabby, with none of the polish of Seagles, which, because it looks nice and it's closer to the waterfront is where the tourists tend to go. After being assured by my waitress that the crab cakes indeed have lots of crab and are "really amazing" that's what I got. It comes with three sides so I chose fries, hush puppies, and fried okra. Served with a lemon wedge, remoulade, and a cute little lettuce garnish on the side, too small to be called a salad. They were pretty good; I've had far worse and I've had better. A decent amount of crab, nicely browned, held together well, but more Old Bay than I'd like. Good portion size. I wasn't disappointed. A bottle of hot sauce was offered, not the usual brand. The fries were the spicy battered type, probably not made in house but were good. Hush puppies crunchy and not greasy, sweet, excellent. Fried okra? I guess good if you like okra. I always have to try it when offered and reach the same conclusion: it's only meant for thickening gumbo. I sat outside on the back patio with a view of the bar. What entertainment! A loud animated conversation between one local "Jimmy" and two of his friends carried on the entire time I was there. I don't know what they were talking about, the topic seemed to change from minute to minute - and sometimes in mid-sentence. Liberally peppered with words and phrases narrow-minded people consider vulgar. I was so amused. At one point Jimmy noticed they weren't alone and shouted out to the room (just me and one other party of 2) "Sorry about my language, I hope none of y'all are from a church group or nothin." I just kind of grinned and told him to carry on. On the way out I asked at the front desk, remarked that Jimmy was hilarious and asked if he was a regular. Indeed he was, and there's a "Beware of Jimmy" sign hanging over the bar in his honor! Mostly national beer brands at the bar, but also two Georgia beers on tap. I asked about cider and they had one: an Angry Orchard from New York. That's really terrible cider but I got one anyway. I wasn't in the mood for a cocktail and I don't like beer. My waitress was wonderful. She had good advice on the food, checked on me frequently, and always called me by endearments, switching between "baby", "honey", and "darling". I tipped her $10 on a $25 meal. What can I say? I'm a sucker for Southern charm. read more

Stepping into Southern River Walk, It wasn't what I expected, my wife and I walked back outside to make sure we were entering the correct establishment. While it's not an upscale spot, the relaxed decor and touches of Southern charm create a laid-back and inviting atmosphere. Soft rock hits play gently in the background, adding to the ambiance, though on my visit, the empty dining area did give it a bit of a quiet, lonely feel. If you're driving by and see restaurant sign that's says "French Quarters," you just gotta stop in to check it out. We went around the back where there was outside seating and a live band playing. The waiter was super friendly, and we didn't have to wait a long time to get out of food. We started off with the Calamari, and I have to say it was some of the best I've had. I went with the fried shrimp with a side of mac and cheese. Everything was really good My husband had the wings. I think they were with the sweet chili sauce. He really liked them but did consider asking for a little more sauce. My son had the kids' tender meal with fries and loved it. I've heard so many good things about this restaurant. We went on comedy night, had our 4 yr old. Sat and had our drink order taken I asked for a margarita and she asked what type of vodka I wanted. We chuckled and gave our food order. After 45 mins, no refilled drinks and still no food she advised she forgot to put our order in. All while my at first calm 4 yr old is now a raging mess cause he's hungry and it's getting late. We paid our bill for our 2 drinks (yes, it was made with vodka not tequila) and we left. I will give it another try, hopefully it was just an off night. We shall see. The comedians btw were hilarious, so that helped. read more

Excellent lunch spot by the Southern River Walk! The chili, pulled pork sandwich, and smash burger were absolutely delicious--highly recommend all three! Perfect place to grab a bite while enjoying the scenic views. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town again. YUM! read more

This has a coastal sports bar theme. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our server, Caleb recommended items on the menu that he felt were not the restaurant's strength. I had the Classic Hamburger cooked medium and came out as asked. My wife had the fish & chips which came with fries which was perfect for sharing. There's not very many restaurants in St. Mary's and I haven't been to much but out of the ones that I have eaten at this was no doubt, the BEST. Everything in my families table was great, the food was so spectacular and flavorful and the drinks were great. Our server was so respectful and had a great attitude. Not to mention, they have so many cool Arcade games! Skee-ball, basketball, punch/kicking machine, pool, claw machines, the list goes on. Fun lights hung up, decorated fun, it's truly a must to stop by and have a bite. If I had to say one thing, it would be the bathrooms are a little old looking with broken soap dispenser that I had to push (it was one of those automatic) one of the toilets was dirty but that's not their fault of course, dudes suck. read more

A week ago we wandered in here and found the food to be excellent. I ordered Philly Mac and Cheese. It was out of this world. It was a special for Happy Hour. In the interim between then and now, much has transpired. The Happy Hour food menu is no longer offered. That is significant, considering the website still offers happy hour food specials. As for the service, the waitress/bartender, on each occasion has been about as friendly as Atilla the Hun. My belief is that what is offered on the website is the word and bond of the owner. It doesn't say much about their character when such inconsistencies are their public face. P.S. The Philly Mac and Cheese was not as good the second time. The cheese sauce was separated as it does when it is reheated. Overall the food is hit or miss and the service is marginal. read more

Here at the St Marys Community Market, every Sat 9am-1am. Not many vendors but good quality-jams, bread, honey, desserts, one jewelry maker (bought 2 pair earrings) and a lady with nice paintings some of African focus (told her about American Beach/Museum in Fern. Southern River Walk. Sounds classy, perhaps even upscale, right? It's not. But this DIVE BAR does a good job of dressing up with a good menu and good food. One block from the water, the name envisioned something in my minds eye. But opening the door and the smell of last night's revelry hits you. Then you'll notice a bare cement floor, a decent sized bar, billiard tables, pinball and arcade machines. This is not what I envisioned! I was concerned but reminded myself of the 4 star review average. Don't let me down Yelpers! And I wasn't. The prices were competitive. Shrimp Alfredo and TNT shrimp were surpsing well executed. Curb side parking at noon during the off season was easy. Tables were spaced apart well, easy for those with mobility issues. read more

This was our first time to St. Marys where we actually got to explore (we'd stopped briefly previously) and the outdoor part of this bar was such a gem! The atmosphere at the outdoor bar was great, probably bc we had a great bartender. I believe her name was Chastity, but it's been a week so I'm not 100% any more on the name. My food looked awesome, and tasted great! They even had lumpia as an appetizer Additionally, they let me sub salad for pasta for my crabcake stuffed salmon entree. My family and I went on the train ride and then ended up here for dinner. It wasn't busy and the server was very friendly. Our food was good. I have 4 stars just because there wasn't much to my salad, but it was large and filling. It would have been nice to maybe have a boiled egg or cheese on it, maybe some blue cheese. My husband loved his burger! Although they don't have a kids menu they can make anything that would normally be on a kids menu including a side. There was a group of guests who were so loud, my husband and I could not hear the server speaking to us or even hear what we were saying to each other. The server never brought us utensils. I had to ask for them. I had to get my own salt and pepper. We never refills on our drinks. I had to go inside to get a take-out box and our check. The server never came back. The group of loud guests were not eating. There was only one other couple eating and they had a different server than us. This was one of my favorite places to eat.
