During my first visit to Lisbon, I didn't have time to plan out my meals like I usually do when visiting a new city. I typically try to avoid overly touristy spots, but this time I had to rely on Yelp, TikTok, and Google to guide me. While the food scene overall didn't completely win me over, Seagull Method Café stood out in a big way -- this was hands-down the best meal I had in Lisbon. Located in a charming pink building on a quiet street, the café has a cozy, casual vibe. After a bit of a walk uphill, we were seated at a small table by an open window that overlooked the street. The interior is stylish yet relaxed, full of personality and the kind of place you could easily settle into for a slow brunch or an afternoon coffee. Service was on the slower side -- it took a while to get our check and there was a bit of waiting between ordering and receiving our food -- but our waitress was friendly and welcoming. She offered a couple of recommendations that we wouldn't have chosen on our own, and I'm so glad we trusted her. We shared two dishes between the two of us, one sweet and one savory, and it was more than enough. * The savory dish featured corn fritters served with an avocado tomatillo sauce. They were crispy, fresh, and absolutely bursting with flavor -- one of those dishes you think about long after the trip is over. * The sweet dish was their take on French toast: a crème brûlée-style toast with a caramelized top, fresh berries, and a luscious whipped cream or cream cheese topping. It was one of the best French toast preparations I've ever had -- perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. To drink, I ordered a chai latte (beautifully spiced and creamy) and a fresh orange juice that was so vibrant it tasted like it had just been squeezed. My sister had a house-made lemonade that was equally refreshing and flavorful. In total, we ordered six beverages and two full meals, and I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable the final bill was for the quality and quantity. Although Seagull Method Café doesn't seem to be featured on every "must-try" list, it absolutely should be. When we left, there was a line wrapped around the building, which tells me the locals are in on the secret. Our server also mentioned they have a sister restaurant called POMME Eatery, which we didn't have time to visit -- but based on this meal, I wouldn't hesitate to check it out next time. If this café were in Florida, I'd be a regular. For now, it remains one of my favorite hidden gems in Lisbon -- a place I'd go back to in a heartbeat. read more

Food was so good. We had gone here through a recommendation on Tiktok and it did not disappoint. Their coffee was also really good as well. They do not take reservation so there was a little bit of a wait for three people. I think it was about 30 minutes but we didn't mind. There are a lot of cute houses in the area so we did a little photoshoot. The cafe is decorated really well, the walls are graffitied by guests that have visited. If there were 6 stars available, I would give them all to Seagull Method! First, it was a trek to get there from my hotel. At one point our taxi driver was like, too far, get out, and then we had to walk the rest of the way. Needless to say I was hungry by the time our name was called. It's a small cafe, but these breakfast dishes were amazing! I had the savory pancakes. They came with green onions, a poached egg, and avocado. Each bite of the pancake had the perfect amount of savoriness, I really thought, who needs syrup? We also had avocado toast, with scrambled eggs and bacon and the most perfect pickled red onions. Bonus points: I ordered a homemade lemonade, which was amazing. Then the waitress came back and simply said, "champagne is free today, can I interest you in some?" You guys know my answer! read more

This place was classics with unexpected flavor twists. Lots of vegetarian options. Worth the hype, come eat here, you won't regret it. Cute and cozy but not stuffy, refreshing but intimate enough. I feel bad giving The Seagull Method a low rating, because nothing was wrong, per se, other than the fact that I thought their food was disgusting. Clearly I am in the minority here. I've walked by this place a million times and there's always a line out front. I've never noticed anyone else expressing the sort of horror I felt when I finally went. The menu skews savory, aside from the dessert section, where the more traditional sweet pancake options are housed. The rest of the menu uses terms like 'salty' to describe the pancakes. I was envisioning something like the cheddar and spinach waffles at Toronto's Lady Marmalade or all the crepe places that use separate batter for savor and sweet crepes. Nope, not here. Those salty pancakes are sweet pancakes with salty stuff mixed in. The french toast has loads of sugar in it. There were a lot of flavors going on and they were not harmonious. The mushrooms are drowned in syrup and cinnamon and other sweet things. Mushrooms. In. Syrup. The closest I've come to experiencing these flavors before was the time a bartender made my dirty martini with sweet vermouth. Which, judging by the lineup here, might be a hit with the rest of the world. Bartenders, take note! There's a market for this. I thought I could just eat the side salad. Even that was a confusing mix, since it was composed primarily of herbs that did not belong in the same salad. Once again, my palate gave this a hard no. This was the first time in my life where I've wondered if I was a super taster because the people at the other tables were happily eating these things that were such an alarming mix of incompatible flavors for me. Everything else is fine. You know, white space vibes. Instagram friendly plating. Dog friendly. Caters to tourists while also having a local following. You can fill in the blanks. Run into this place while living right across the street and looking for a breakfast place. Oh boy was I lucky. As a Frenchman, I am kinda a snob when it comes to coffees and pastries. This place did satisfy me and even went beyond my expectations. Their house coffee blend is absolutely amazing, especially in Cappuccino/Flat white form! Pastries are great - I have not had that good of a croissant since last time I was in a Paris cafe - and that's quite a tall order. Finally, tougher breakfast options are there and also have vegetarian options. The staff is super friendly, speaks perfect English and the decoration/interior are absolutely lovely! Stumbled upon this place for dinner on last night in Lisbon. If we'd found it sooner, we'd have been here a few more times. Service was impeccable. Staff speaks very good English. Cocktails are inventive and delicious. The octopus is so tender, you don't need a knife. My daughter had them add bacon to her Mac&Cheese. She said it was the best M&C she'd ever had in a restaurant. Gazpacho, meatballs and polenta all were fabulous. I don't remember the name of one of the starters we had, but it included olives and a tuna spread that I loved. Get the tomato carpaccio with burrata. It's made with all different types of tomatoes and is wonderful. My only regret is that we didn't come here sooner. read more
