    The view from room 116

I called this place at the last min when we decided to take a weekend trip for the 4th of July. I had called several places and no where would allow large dogs. This place did. The lady who took my reservation so SO NICE and helpful. When we arrived the office staff was extremely nice. Our room was great. Beautiful ocean view. This place is a great find and we will definitely be back. Pros: rooms are ocean front Friendly staff that are very helpful Pool, grills, hammocks, beach chairs all at your leisure. From all the guest we met, everyone was so nice and great with the dogs. The rooms and building, and grounds where very clean Cons: IF your are very picky these rooms are not for you. It IS an older place. However our room was clean and functional. Our room did not have a microwave however I heard they are in process of adding to all rooms. When fully booked parking with large vehicle can be a bit tight in some spots. All in all we LOVED IT. Our dog loved it. We will be back.

    The land lord special

Quick access to the beach is about all the good you're gonna get from this place, stay the hell away! All of the towels we were given were stained but had a strong bleachy smell so I guess you could say they were "clean". The only sort of provided kitchen in the room is a mini fridge. There is a microwave in the main office/lobby area but when the staff leaves at 9pm you're locked out. The grill area would be nice if the whole wooden patio wasn't infested with roaches, don't believe me? Go out there with a light a few hours after dark and try and count them all. One of our rooms without a doubt had bedbugs as my friend and I would both wake up with more bites each day that looked exactly like bed bug bites. When we brought this to the attention of the staff they seemed helpful and offered to change the sheets and spray the mattresses with something that didn't smell that pleasant, really nice when you're trying to fall asleep. I had found and killed a bug prior to them changing the sheets and asked them if that could've been what's been biting us and told me that since it's smashed they can't tell what it is and that they've been having sand mite issues(!) so it's definitely not bed bugs. On the last day of our stay my friend found a bug crawling on their pillow so I brought it, live, to a housekeeper and she got the owner. The short older lady walked up to me and before I could say anything she said "there aren't any bed bugs in that room" so I asked what the bug on the pillow was to which she replied "dead, that's what it is" smashed it and walked inside. The picture above my bed fell on me in the middle of the night. After looking at it the next day I realized that it was never hung by the actual tabs on the frame but rather hung from two metal hooks in the wall that caught the little lip on the back of the frame. It had obviously broken before and they repaired it with tape and put it back up on the wall instead of replacing the cheap frame that was used to begin with. The only priority here is making money, the comfort and quality of your stay never crossed the owners minds.

You won't find more personable staff than at Seahawk. Everyone here is friendly and accommodating. Yes, it is very old, but it's directly on the beach. Literally every room is ocean view. Plus there's a pool! Beach chairs and umbrellas are free and put out for you daily. The price is lower than literally anyone else plus your eighth night is FREE!!! I've stayed here four different t times now. You're going to the beach forget about the 60's motel room. A/C works great and so does hot water!

Rainy day, small tv but it does the job!

My girl friend and I went on a "Girlcation" for Memorial Day! We loved the price and how quaint and cute it was. Everyone was super friendly. The view is also wonderful also the distance to the beach. We had to stay inside due to rain today which sucks but it is what it is, but I will say it made the small tv a tad annoying (although I don't think you would normally come for the tv). It's also not the tidiest place either but it's also not gross--hence the three stars. Everything has a trade off. Over all we would def come back!

Seahawk is a no frills hotel with a killer ocean front location. I've stayed here twice now. It sits between the Doubletree and the Atlantis. All 3 are dog friendly. Seahawk has the lowest rates, in fact up til this year my first choice has been Atlantis but I'm shocked how high they have jacked their rates. Neither Seahawk nor Atlantis offer any amenities like onsite dining or bar. I like the pool being on the beach side, Atlantis has theirs in the parking lot under trees, I have never cared for that. The room was clean but dated. The bath looked recently tiled and painted. There is a decent sized fridge in the room, a small coffee maker, but no hair dryer, so pack it if you need one. Beds are not comfortable but you'll sleep from being worn out from the beach. I thought it was strange that I could hear neighbors so easily with concrete walls between us, not sure if maybe it was coming through the air vents. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and bikes are complimentary. Friendly staff.

    Great view of the ocean

The Seahawk continues to be a very nice place to go and to take one's pets. The staff is especially warm and friendly. There are some new and nice restaurants that have popped up and are nearby

As you enter, you notice that the trash cans by the door are clean and empty, the glass doors clean and a woman is mopping wet footprints off of the floor each time someone walks across the lobby. The staff comes in early in the morning and you see them arrive with clean, pressed uniforms as they are talking and entering the building. They are a team and everyone knows their job and takes pride in their work. The pool deck and walkway to the beach are cleaned every morning. The men that take care of the outside amenities empty the trash, pick up items left behind and straighten the patio furniture before anyone comes to use the amenities. The groundskeepers then show up and mow the grass with a battery powered mower and weedwacker so that it doesn't disturb anyone that is still sleeping. They have coffee by the restaurant as early as 6:30 in the morning. It is hotel coffee, but this is a hotel and not a barista fixing your cup of morning joe. The restaurant that is on site and serves breakfast is very clean and offers seating options inside or on their patio. They are a little slow to get you seated, but once seated you are taken care of and don't need to ask for anything. Our cups were full and so were our stomachs as we got ready for a day at the beach. I don't like buffets. However, this buffet very clean and the food was good. We did sample the menu 2 of the days that we stayed. Th

DoubleTree by Hilton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront…read more I used electronic check-in, though I did stop by the front desk briefly to ask where the restaurant was before heading over for dinner about 40 minutes before closing. I'll cover that experience separately. Overall, the hotel delivered a solid stay. The room--707, oceanfront--was clean for the most part and well-equipped with everything you'd expect: refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (filter-style pods), ironing board, hair dryer, and a television. Lighting is excellent, with plenty of lamps throughout the room, and there are ample AC outlets along with modern USB and USB-C ports, which is a nice touch. One feature that stood out was the small table with two chairs. It made a big difference since I ended up bringing dinner back to the room, and having a proper place to sit and eat comfortably is something not every hotel gets right. The room itself was spacious with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The view was great, and the setup made it easy to relax and enjoy the beachfront atmosphere. There was nothing wrong with the room--it was a solid, comfortable oceanfront stay. Parking is plentiful and free, which is always a plus in a beach area. One thing to keep in mind for this stretch of the coast: it tends to stay windy. Be prepared for strong winds and quick temperature changes, especially if you're spending time outside on the balcony or walking along the beach. Overall, a good, reliable oceanfront stay with the conveniences you want and a comfortable setup for relaxing by the water.

We were able to check in earlier than the 3pm time given online. The girls and I went into the cutest room with whales painted on the walls above painted waves. We chose a double bed room. There were two beds, a small wooden table with two chairs, another wooden bench, a dresser, small fridge, and microwave. There is a vanity with a large mirror, and a tiny bathroom with a shower/tub and toilet. The room was clean, and very neat. We had plenty of towels, as well as extra blankets for each bed. The air conditioning was working great! This hotel has two different picnic/outdoor seating areas. One is outside the area where most of the rooms are. The other outdoor area is down at the other end of the property. They had chairs, picnic tables, a grill, and even bbq tools ready to be used. The girls played with beach balls, and we were able to just sit back and relax. Their hotel also has boat slips in a little gut out back. If you choose to bring your boat, they're ready for you! The lady/owner got us into our room and was so nice. She explained the layout, and rules of the hotel. (No pets, no smoking, quiet time began at 10pm). She was so sweet. This is definitely a family-run business and is geared toward families. There is beach access directly across the road, but we took the short drive down to the Fort Macon beach area. The Caribbe Inn is close to the Morehead bridge, many restaurants, stores, beach shops, and other places you might need while at the beach. We had such a nice stay, and enjoyed our time away. We girls ate out, played on the beach, slept very well at night, and had a great stay at the Caribbe Inn! We will be back!

I spilled something on the bed so I pulled the sheets up from the mattress. When I came back later they just laid the sheets and blanket back down. I again had to go to the desk and ask for service. Went to the pool and some substance was floating in the corner. It looked like vomit. I alerted the staff and they said it was just pollen and suntan lotion. Pollen in late July? Was informed by other guest that 2 days prior someone had been vomiting in the pool and they never cleaned it. A guy came out with a paper towel and skimmed the water but it is very much still there.

It's a bizarre time to be reviewing most things because Covid has obviously thrown off the "normal" into many shades of grey. With that said, take this one with a grain of salt as it's only a brief snapshot in time for how things are now. In another month or two, who knows? Let's start with the good: The location to the beach couldn't be any better. Just a short walk and you're there. The hotel was sold out or near it every night we were there yet the beach area directly across the street was never busy. The same as last year with seeing the same families and people every day more or less set up in the same spot very spread out from each other. All Covidly perfect. Not so good: Hilton Honors benefits at check in are still a no here, just like last year. The beds are extremely squeaky. Any sitting/moving = high pitched squeaking. The hotel is not following the new Hilton/Lysol cleaning protocol that started a few weeks ago. No stickers on the room doors or verbiage anywhere on property. I was told at check in that if you want your garbage taken to have it in the hallway early in the morning so that housekeeping could grab it and that the only way to get fresh towels or any bedding was to stop a housekeeper in the hall with your old stuff or bring your old stuff with you to the front desk since the hotel was running extremely low. Is the hotel's linen par really that low? Is the smell of that much garbage-food in the hallways overnight a good idea? Our room was dusty/sandy when we checked in and the a/c unit was filthy. No way were either cleaned thoroughly in a while. But since there was no daily housekeeping and with the hotel being sold out the day we checked in... If you want a hotel that has a great beach location that is out of the way and quiet, this is it. Past that, things were on the dirtier side in general and I question any place not following the new cleaning protocol. Time to give this one a rest for a bit.
