We stayed at the Seahawk June 18-22 in a standard room and had a wonderful experience! All the staff was so very friendly and accommodating. The room was extremely clean. The mattresses were comfortable, even the roll away. The bedding was soft and fresh feeling. We loved the convenience of the small fridge in the room. We were able to tour one of the Villas while we were there so that we could decide if we would be interested in booking it for a future trip. read more

1-Star Review: Wrongfully Evicted, Account Charged Anyway - Longtime Guest Speaks Out On the night of October 6th, 2025, my family was wrongfully evicted from our room at Seahawk Inn & Villas - accused of smoking inside the room. We were: 1. Not smoking inside our room 2. In a room with no odor, no haze, no ashes, no cigarette butts 3. Visited by police, who found no evidence and cleared us of any wrongdoing Despite this: 1. The owners still forced us leave immediately 2. We, two adults and two dogs, were given 20 minutes to pack and leave the property - with no place to stay for the night. 3. We were charged in full for the remaining nights 4. A $200 "smoking fee" was added to our bill Seahawk permits smoking on balconies and outdoor areas, where guests can often be seen smoking at all hours. We did not violate this rule (as confirmed by police) and there was no justification for how we were treated. We did not break their rules - so we're still trying to understand what happened. Did we look different? Did we dress differently than other guests? We don't know. Upon arrival, before we even unloaded the car, owner Gina Nanine (Albritton) Bunn entered our room while Frederick Moye Bunn attempted to repair the broken sliding glass door we'd discovered upon check-in. Her greeting to us: "Y'all ain't smokin' in here, are y'all? 'Cause if y'all are, then y'all gon' hafta leave." That was the first thing she said to us. I've stayed at the Seahawk for over 15 years - often multiple times a year. Never had an issue. Never expected that I'd end up trying to protect my family from the very place I once called my peaceful escape. Everything could use improvement and since I am sure the land is a valuable item this is probably a teardown. In short, the owner ot manager was rude, the painted cinderblock rooms were musty and humid and made you feel sticky. Someone was smoking marijuana during our stay, and that's no big deal, but I suspect it was coming from one of the "non smoking" rooms. The pool is very basic and not luxurious. This is a roadside dive hotel at best and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's crazy how much you have to spend on a dive like this, but we were desperate. Never again - be warned. read more

After more than 25 years of stays at the Seahawk, sometimes several times a year, my husband and I were falsely accused and charged $200 for smoking in our guest room, we did not smoke in the room and were given little to no opportunity to defend myself. There was a cigarette burning outside the room which the wind may have carried that way but we did not smoke in the room. We have loved this hotel for many years even though it lacks in what most consider standard in a hotel room. We even looked past the cockroaches because we know that they spray often and can't control what the guests may bring with them. We dealt with not having a microwave (even when requested), the rusty fixtures, doors not closing properly, torn drapes, slow internet, terrible water and lack of pressure because we liked the people, supporting a small business and the view from the second floor is astounding! While I fully understand the need for hotels to keep a close watch on such things, I did not go against their policies and I do not appreciate being called a liar. I called this place at the last min when we decided to take a weekend trip for the 4th of July. I had called several places and no where would allow large dogs. This place did. The lady who took my reservation so SO NICE and helpful. When we arrived the office staff was extremely nice. Our room was great. Beautiful ocean view. This place is a great find and we will definitely be back. Pros: rooms are ocean front Friendly staff that are very helpful Pool, grills, hammocks, beach chairs all at your leisure. From all the guest we met, everyone was so nice and great with the dogs. The rooms and building, and grounds where very clean Cons: IF your are very picky these rooms are not for you. It IS an older place. However our room was clean and functional. Our room did not have a microwave however I heard they are in process of adding to all rooms. When fully booked parking with large vehicle can be a bit tight in some spots. All in all we LOVED IT. Our dog loved it. We will be back. read more

Quick access to the beach is about all the good you're gonna get from this place, stay the hell away! All of the towels we were given were stained but had a strong bleachy smell so I guess you could say they were "clean". The only sort of provided kitchen in the room is a mini fridge. There is a microwave in the main office/lobby area but when the staff leaves at 9pm you're locked out. The grill area would be nice if the whole wooden patio wasn't infested with roaches, don't believe me? Go out there with a light a few hours after dark and try and count them all. One of our rooms without a doubt had bedbugs as my friend and I would both wake up with more bites each day that looked exactly like bed bug bites. When we brought this to the attention of the staff they seemed helpful and offered to change the sheets and spray the mattresses with something that didn't smell that pleasant, really nice when you're trying to fall asleep. I had found and killed a bug prior to them changing the sheets and asked them if that could've been what's been biting us and told me that since it's smashed they can't tell what it is and that they've been having sand mite issues(!) so it's definitely not bed bugs. On the last day of our stay my friend found a bug crawling on their pillow so I brought it, live, to a housekeeper and she got the owner. The short older lady walked up to me and before I could say anything she said "there aren't any bed bugs in that room" so I asked what the bug on the pillow was to which she replied "dead, that's what it is" smashed it and walked inside. The picture above my bed fell on me in the middle of the night. After looking at it the next day I realized that it was never hung by the actual tabs on the frame but rather hung from two metal hooks in the wall that caught the little lip on the back of the frame. It had obviously broken before and they repaired it with tape and put it back up on the wall instead of replacing the cheap frame that was used to begin with. We stayed recently and the rooms reeked of marijuana for 5/7 nights of our stay. I raised this on the first night and was told that someone was going to do a walk of the property to see if they could pinpoint it. I gave it a day and with no change, myself and another guest went to their front desk to let them know and while they were nice, it was a "we can't do anything" vibe from her. It would have been nice to have been comped something as we had small children with us. We make staying at the Seahawk a tradition that we are now considering changing after this abysmal response. You won't find more personable staff than at Seahawk. Everyone here is friendly and accommodating. Yes, it is very old, but it's directly on the beach. Literally every room is ocean view. Plus there's a pool! Beach chairs and umbrellas are free and put out for you daily. The price is lower than literally anyone else plus your eighth night is FREE!!! My girl friend and I went on a "Girlcation" for Memorial Day! We loved the price and how quaint and cute it was. Everyone was super friendly. The view is also wonderful also the distance to the beach. We had to stay inside due to rain today which sucks but it is what it is, but I will say it made the small tv a tad annoying (although I don't think you would normally come for the tv). It's also not the tidiest place either but it's also not gross--hence the three stars. Everything has a trade off. Over all we would def come back! read more

Steeped in history, we offer 38 rooms with a beautiful oceanfront view, and a nostalgic feel of a "home away from home". Come stay at the "Seahawk" and create great memories from your favorite place to be in Atlantic Beach! " We were enjoying our time at the pool streaming music from the Second floor patio when we were accosted by this angry hostile employee, Karen Elaine. She was almost running towards us, screaming, with her arm outstretched finger pointing..screaming "Turn it off, turn it off!" She continued screaming stating the lyrics were offensive; however, she was unable to provide me details. This occurred in the presence of approximately 25 guests. She failed to perform her due diligence by obtaining the facts prior to attacking guests. She attacked us verbally and physically as she pointed her fingers in my face. I immediately turned it off; however, I am not accustomed to this type behavior from an employee of an establishment whose focus is service. The conduct of employee Karen Elaine was completely unacceptable and completely inappropriate and I am certain against what Seahawk represents. Not only did I obey her instructions, I did not play music for the remainder of my stay as I was fearful of being accustomed by her again. Her finger pointing, loud screaming was conduct unbecoming and unacceptable. We finally checked out a day early. My mom was sick from the unfair treatment as music continued a few feet from us and not a single word said until... I reminded Karen Elaine of what was currently playing from the party just behind us. A song with offensive language; however, she failed to approach them until I pointed out the offensive music that continued playing in the pool area. She didn't scream at them, she didn't put her fingers in their faces. She didn't charge at them as she did at my family. We did absolutely nothing to deserve her abusive behavior. This employee, Karen Elaine approached us with hostility and intensity, prepared to assault us over an R&B song! Karen Elaine should have approached my family in a respectful manner and asked to have a private conversation; notifying us of the rules as they were not posted on the literature, nor were they posted on any bulletin boards or flyers in the rooms. She literally made me feel like music was banned, we were banned and she approached us with hostility; refusing to acknowledge her behavior. Karen Elaine owes a duty to Seahawk Inn-Villas to carry out her duties with absolute care in the hospitality industry. Seahawk Inn-Villas is vicariously liable for the negligence of Karen Elaine. Her teeth were tightly clinched, eyes bulging, fingers waving. This behavior will be costly for her and the hospitality industry she chose as a career! read more

Seahawk is a no frills hotel with a killer ocean front location. I've stayed here twice now. It sits between the Doubletree and the Atlantis. All 3 are dog friendly. Seahawk has the lowest rates, in fact up til this year my first choice has been Atlantis but I'm shocked how high they have jacked their rates. Neither Seahawk nor Atlantis offer any amenities like onsite dining or bar. I like the pool being on the beach side, Atlantis has theirs in the parking lot under trees, I have never cared for that. The room was clean but dated. The bath looked recently tiled and painted. There is a decent sized fridge in the room, a small coffee maker, but no hair dryer, so pack it if you need one. Beds are not comfortable but you'll sleep from being worn out from the beach. I thought it was strange that I could hear neighbors so easily with concrete walls between us, not sure if maybe it was coming through the air vents. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and bikes are complimentary. Friendly staff. read more

Is half a star acceptable? So run don't walk, run! First off if you use their website to scope it out your outta luck the photos on their page in no way look like reality. It's old which is fine, if you up keep it! The room was kinda sketchy, like I wasn't sure if bed bugs were going to come out of the bed. The room smelled like ammonia and marijuana. The towels where stained and looked dirty. Long story short we walked in and walked straight out. Went to the front desk. My exact words were "that room is not gonna work for us can we get a refund." The clerks response was simple, "yep where's your card." Thus proving to me people must have done this before to the place. read more

I thought long and hard about how to rate.. but at the end of the day it's about what is more important to you... pros- friendly staff, laid back motel that is pet friendly, right on the beach..like right on!!! Great pool! , fun activities to do while there corn hole, chairs that are put out on the beach to use and it feels as if everyone that stays here are fun people!! The let you borrow beach towels! Cons- rooms are not so nice and bathrooms need a uplift, but you are paying for outside Atmosphere..kinda worried about garbage overflow with the water bugs/ cockroaches. But they are in outside garbage cans not in rooms and as soon as cleaning people get there in am they take care of it..Beds are not comfortable and the linens are Not nice.. so bring own blankets.. I would stay here again definitely we had a blast but would bring own sheets and maybe mattress pad but still would be worth the outside Atmosphere! I will start with the good...ocean front/view! After that the Seahawk sinks into the old, dated and rundown hotel abyss. Worse than the old and musty smell was the room and bathroom were not clean. Window blinds were dirty, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, peanuts left in plain view in the floor from a previous guest, tub surround was cracked badly and in disrepair, carpet was pulling away from the wall and was multicolored from who knows what (should have been replaced 10 years ago), refrigerator did not work properly and the linens were a dingy yellow color (but at least they matched the bathtub). I can live with old but the dirty does not work for me! While I appreciate the hotel being pet friendly (we didn't travel with our pets) the guest traveling with their pets allowed them to poop in the common area and not clean up after them. We only stayed here one night but witnessed this on several occasions. It was a last minute trip for us as we came in town to hike the Croatan. Thankfully we were not in the room very much. It was a great trip but I plan to NEVER stay at the Seahawk again. read more

Stayed here about two years ago and the hotel was just okay but decided to stay again because they accept pets and the price was good. I don't know what happened but the hotel has gone downhill. The furnishings are old, which is fine, but they could at least be clean. The top of the refrigerator was disgusting as were the (what looks like) pubic hairs in the bed and in the tub. The carpet felt damp and neither the tub or sink held water. Also, A/C is set on 55°F but I doubt it was less than 78°F the entire 2 days we were there. If you enjoy obnoxious drunk 60 year old men smoking marijuana, the pool area might be for you! Don't waste your vacation, stay at the Hilton less than a block away. read more

The toilet broke and made excessive noise throughout the entire stay and kept us awake at night. The outdoor area smelled like marijuana and beer all the time. The yard outside of the room had so many sand burs that you could not even walk a step without getting them in your feet. Overall, rooms were not clean and the stay was not very pleasant. However, if I were judging only by the room, I'd give it more like two stars. Our room smelled a bit...was it mothballs? Some type of bulk cleaning fluid? Just simple old age and the accumulation of decades of ever-changing ocean-goers? Not sure. But the room and its accoutrements were shabby. For example, the ice bucket was cracked and made of the cheapest type of tupperware imaginable. Back to the positives: the dog-friendliness, bevy of hammocks, and location couldn't be better. The staff was great and the motel is in a great place right on the beach. Housekeeping wasn't great and the pool was closed for over a day while we were there. I love the hammocks along the ocean front but they are so old or worn that you lay on the ground if you get in the hammock. I understand it was recently bought and they are doing some upgrades. I think that is a very good idea. Pretty good for the price but definitely needs some upkeep. Otherwise it is still a pretty good buy for the money as long as you don't pay the highest rate. I love this place! We bring our 2 dogs, [they only charge 15/n for BOTH] and give us treats for them when we check in. We come here at least twice a summer and noticed a lot of great updates outside. Everyone staying here is friendly but there's also no pressure to socialize. They also provide beach service, [2 chairs and umbrellas] which they don't mention on the website. Just got back from 3 nights at Seahawk, love love love. Have been coming here for 10 years. Ocean seems eye level, waves lull you to sleep. Lots of space for families to enjoy, accepts pets, have pool, hammocks, seat swings, has it all. Front desk couldn't be more helpful and caring. Full lanai with privacy. We had a great stay at the Seahawk. The staff was helpful, extremely friendly, and diligent in their work. Our room was clean and fresh, even if the structure itself is on the older side. Our room was less than ten feet from the pool (which was also cleaned multiple times a day) and you could see the ocean from our patio. Great amenities included nice pool furniture, oceanfront hammocks, and beach furniture. My family has been coming down to Atlantic Beach since before I was born (this was year 33 for me) and this was easily one of my best trips. We brought our dog with us as well and the staff (and fellow guests) were so friendly to us and our pup. Honestly can't say enough good things about the Seahawk. Great rates for what you get. I am giving 2 stars because of the close proximity to the beach and wonderful outdoor entertainment (pool, corn hole boards, hammocks). Otherwise, not worth the money. We were up all night with noisy neighbors, which is not the hotel's fault, except that there is no one in the office to answer the phone to tell these people to keep it down at 4am. The beds were also extremely uncomfortable and the pillows very flat. I'm only 23 years old and woke up stiff as a board. We are certainly contemplating shortening our stay and going elsewhere. read more

Let me start by saying I had high hopes and ignored the bad reviews for this place. I thought maybe there was some exaggeration, that it was just older. It looked super cute online. We checked in at 630-7pm. When we got up to the room our door was already open. we immediately noticed dirt on the floor, previous guests items they left behind, and the carpet was sticky? It left a residue on our feet. All the windows and mirrors were dirty. I'm talking this is the dirtiest hotel I have ever been to. I knew it would be aged but I expect it to be clean. We began to make other arrangements for the night before checking out since we traveled so far. At 8pm we went to the front desk to check out and discuss a refund. The girl at the front desk, Lexi, was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered in customer service. EVER. Lexi states she is a manager...I do not understand how that could be true (but if it is...there needs to be some re-evaluation) The arrogant petty attitude was uncalled for since we were not rude to her. She refused to refund me for the night we were not staying.... and told me it was because we had stayed too long ?? An hour & change?? She never once asked why we wanted to leave, never apologized, didn't care whatsoever. She spoke to us condescendingly and as if we were stupid. Such a nasty attitude for what? If you can't refund me at least be nice and apologize. Try to work with me. Something. It's unfortunate really because I had a great experience on the phone with Kristy when originally reserving the room and I thank her for that. This place is truly disgusting, not just old. BEWARE!! DISGUSTING - FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! WARNING-- The management of this facility is known for posting fake, positive reviews online!! Short version of our stay this past weekend at the Seahawk: We checked in and checked out 30 minutes later. Why, you ask? This place is DISGUSTING. It reeked of bleach, the carpet was wet- it literally made our eyes burn and it was as if the cleaning people just threw bleach on the floor to make it smell clean. The carpet looked disgusting and I refused to even set our things down on it. This was a dingy, rundown, MOTEL. The cleaning people looked as if they just crawled out from under a hole in the ground!! Nice marketing ploy with naming this dump "Inn and Villas"- this couldn't be further from the truth. THIS PLACE IS LITERALLY A STEP-DOWN FROM A MOTEL 6. It was honestly the grossest place we have ever been in. I would not touch the beds with a 10 foot pole. I was terrified our 8 month old baby got fleas/bed bugs/etc from just the few minutes we were in the room. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. The advertisement of this DUMP claimed there was a "kitchen"- I'm not sure when a mini-fridge is referred to as a "kitchen"?! Of course, we lost our $165 because they refused to give us a refund. Folks, beware of this FALSE ADVERTISING- this place should be shut down. You can easily stay at the Doubletree, a few doors down, for $50 more and have a terrific experience. I would literally rather sleep on the beach than stay at the Seahawk. Any business that has management that is defensive, rather than focused on making their customers happy, is not a well-run facility. read more
