Sealant was applied in July. After five days, it had not dried and thin spots appeared where it was running off any higher areas. I put a blower on the driveway in an attempt to get it dried. The blower created waves in the sealant, which obviously had too much water in it. I contacted Seal King Somerset and was told it was because our driveway is shaded. They came back to reapply and this time it dried in a couple of days...more evidence the sealant in the first application was defective. Looked good until Spring, when it started flaking off in large pieces, eventually turning to "mud", and finally a fine black powder that was tracked everywhere, including inside the house. I contacted them again and they said they would do it a third time, but at this point I did not trust they knew what they were doing. I asked for at least a partial refund and was told they do not give refunds...an example of their version of customer service. We had another vendor come out and they said they had never seen anything like it and SK's claims about shade were false. They said the first application was likely defective, which prevented the second application from adhering. Ended up hiring the other company and it dried in 24 hours and looks great. Mike was very responsive and after i sent the inquiry, replied back within a business day. Scheduling was easy and then during the week of the scheduled time, they confirmed a couple of days in advance. Their prices are competitive and industry standard but i am coming back to Seal King after trying 2 different companies over the last 2 summers because in my opinion, the sealant that they use is definitely much better than the other providers in the area. I've had Seal King coat my driveway for years. They always do an excellent job. They also did a great job when they redid the apron to my garage. This past year, a little bit of the asphalt in my driveway got damaged. I called them to see if it could get fixed. They were super busy, and it wasn't serious, so we agreed to wait until the end of the summer. Without me having to do any follow up, they came out, and fixed it, WITHOUT CHARGE, as part of their guarantee. We called and left a message. Joe got right back to us via text and scheduled us within the week. He was a very good communicator and gave us a competitive price. They showed up on the scheduled day and time. The workers were detail oriented and it seemed like they were doing the job as if it were their own driveway including being cautious around the walkway edges & Belgian block driveway apron to not leave black sealant on the stone. We were very happy with their work and referred them to our parents. They did a great job on their driveway as well and it was in much worse condition. On June 10th, Seal King sealcoated my driveway. They told me not to drive on it for 48 hours, and I complied. Ten days later, a contractor parked in my driveway to replace some wood around my garage door. When he left, his truck tire had removed a chunk of my blacktop, and his wood shavings were stuck to the driveway. Seal King came back and covered the missing chunk, but not the wood shavings. July 16th, my daughter parked in the driveway overnight and the next morning two more chunks were missing. I sent an email to Seal King about this, but never heard from them again. If your driveway needs sealcoating, perhaps it would be best if Seal King did not hear from you! read more

Wish I had read these reviews. When my drive was power edged, they didn't pull the weeds out of driveway cracks. I had selected credit card payment, so had an invoice and email. Sent photos of grass growing back through seal, and received a call. They came and pulled the grass. It grew back. I emailed again. They called again. I see now they have smeared more fill on the grass, but it's still not repaired correctly. I am working from home - at no time has anyone rang the doorbell to verify my driveway is correctly repaired in all this. read more

Seal King was in our neighborhood VERY early this morning and began leaf blowing by 7:30, which woke me Up. I called to see if that was the standard and to potentially let them know that they had a crew waking up a neighborhood. When I asked if it was standard practice to start st 7:00AM, I was told, "it was 7:30, that's our start time." I went on to say that they should check with the ordinance and he hung up on me. Driveway looked great. Nice care instructions left behind, with easy to see barrier put up to keep traffic off driveway. Best in the business! Mike with Seal King was great! He came out on a Saturday morning (when it was convenient for us and a very hot day no-less) to seal our driveway. He used lots of extra crack fill on numerous deep cracks and didn't ask a dime more than his already great price. Also provided instruction on how to further care for the driveway.
