Unfortunate when you spend money on something to make your life easier and a company makes it more complicated. We had our driveway seal coated and we had told them on several occasions including the morning when they showed up, to be extremely careful of our concrete ribbons next to the driveway and to not get any tar on them. We had it done last year through a different company and they were able to do this without problem. The one side of our driveway was perfect where as other side has splatter all over our 1 yr old stamped and stained concrete, stone masonry of the house and garage door. Called Dan the owner and he immediately denied any fault saying that water must of hit it because he has done over 16,000 houses and they have never splattered. It was 94 degrees out and no rain that full day, no sprinklers and no one was even near the driveway - no water anywhere! After me finally getting mad on the phone and saying how I would never use them again based on him just denying everything, Dan then explained how a complaint causes his workers to not get their bonus and that he would stop right by and take a look at it because the longer it cures, the worse it is. 3 hours later, still no Dan - text him again and he gives me an excuse and says he will swing by in a bit. 3.5 hrs after that, text again and no response. Looking on the internet, there is no way to get the tar off without stripping the sealer and stain color from our concrete. Save yourself the hassle and stress and go elsewhere! read more

We used a competitor for sealcoating our driveway for years and never thought about changing. Accidentally I googled Sealcoat Solutions (SS) and spoke with Dan. He was such a great guy and I could tell honest and just someone I trusted immediately. I scheduled our week to be sealcoated I never told my husband, Eric, I had switched companies. Eric is such a perfectionist I could only hope SS would be just as good as our usual company. After SS completed the driveway I thought the driveway looked 50% better than the old company we used. The proof was when Eric came home and said the driveway looked "Great!" Ah ha that's when I told him I found a better company! Highly recommend! Thank you Dan and his team for a great job!! Couldn't be MORE unprofessional. Talked with them about coming out in TWO weeks at a premium price (must be late in the year) and the called to show up a couple of days later. Called them back to remind them this wasn't possible and they said they'd be out the following week. Never happened. No response to voicemails. Finally got a hold of them and they said no problem for next week. Never called. This is going on four weeks now. One last call to see if they want my money and thats where the argument started. They asked me to contact their foreman. What? YOU contact him and schedule a date. The same person started yelling at me because I wouldn't do his job. I had used Seal Coat solutions for many years prior to this unfortunate experience. I tried to give them every chance to make things right, but instead the owner Dan threatened to put a lien on my house and to throw a 5 gallon bucket of sealer on my home. To say he's unreasonable would be an understatement, which is unfortunate, because everyone else in his office is generally a pleasure to deal with. The story goes like this... Post card arrives in the mail in late February or early March. $144 to seal coat my 3 car garage. I call the # on the card, leave a VM. 2 weeks, no response. I call the # on the card again, leave another VM. A few days later I get a call back saying they haven't started seal coating in 2016 yet but that they got my messages, and they'll call me the day before they service my area. Fast forward to 05/17/16 (45 days later). I get a message that they'll be out to seal coat my driveway the next day. No time window, just tomorrow. I usually leave the house every morning at or around 7:30 AM. In years past, I'd come home to a freshly seal coated driveway. Come 05/18/16, they did indeed come as promised, but at or a little before 7:00 AM. 7:00 AM! I go outside to get the morning newspaper around ~7:05 AM and I smell/see the seal coat. In other words, all the cars were in the garage when they performed the work and they performed the work at an insane hour. This is extremely frustrating for several reasons: - There are Windows on the Garage Door, Take a Peak and See if the Cars are Gone. - Knock - Ring the Door Bell ... before Starting. They claimed to have rang the door bell before they started - but I've got 3 ultra sensitive and annoying dogs that never made a peep. Not only that, but I often enjoy my coffee in the front room each morning before heading out to work and I never heard or saw these guys come. I tried calling the # that had left me the VM the day before to see how long I should wait before I could safely drive on it. No answer (turns out they incorrectly configured their hunt group with the phone company after adding new voice lines recently so it just rang and rang). I tried calling again. No answer. I called the boss. I couldn't be late. I was forced to drive on the freshly seal coated driveway. Seal coat goes all over the sidewalk and the street. I keep calling the #. No answer. I get to the office around 8:30 AM, I call the # that's on the post card I got originally, it's different than the # that called me, Dan the owner answers. He says: a.) It's easiest to remove the sealer from the sidewalk the sooner they can get to it. He'll ask his crew to return ASAP. b.) If my wife needs to leave, which she did, the crew can put carpet pads on the sidewalk so she can drive over it without making things worse. I said that would be awesome. c.) He'll call me back after he calls the crew. I was just hoping they'd made things right, even if it cost me extra. An hour goes by, and no one has called me back.. I call the # again, and they said they'd check with Dan and get back to me. No return call. The wife eventually has to leave and can no longer wait. When she leaves, the sealer is more dry. She's good. The day goes by. No return phone call. I call the next morning, and they said they'd check with Dan and get back to me. They call me the next day asking for PAYMENT, I say I'd happily render payment but I want to know why no one ever returned or called me back. She said her notes said someone had indeed returned, but they hadn't, so again they said they'd check with Dan and get back to me. A week goes by. I decide to take matters into my own hand and hire a different company to seal coat the driveway again and to clean the sidewalk. Despite going at the sidewalk for over an hour, they could only get so much up. I then go to the Home Depot Tool Rental off of Randal Road and rent a power washer. 2 hours later, the tire tracks are less visible, but still not completely gone. Fast forward to today, a fresh call for payment, I inform the girl I had hired a different seal coating company and rented a power washer to clean up the mess. The phone is given to Dan, and he threatened to put a lien on my house and to throw a 5 gallon bucket of sealer on my house. As I informed Dan, and the kind girl who called me both times for payment, had he actually returned my calls and returned that day, I would have happily paid, but after threatening me, he wasn't going to see a dime. The crew arrived at an obscene early of an hour, they never knocked, never rang the door bell, and they had to be in and out in less than 15 minutes. Seal coating ninjas they are! :) This is above and beyond the dead grass (because they got sealer all over it) and cracks they left me with. The 1 star review is purely for Dan's handling of the matter. It was very unfortunate. I simply wanted some empathy and consideration and customer service. Instead I got threats. read more

My experience with Sealcoat Solutions has been miserable. They ripped up my driveways on October 9th and out down a gravel base. They never came back! After a week of waiting I called the City of Batavia to find out if their inspection had been done and found out that the prep work Sealcoat had done failed the inspection. I made many calls to Sealcoat Solutions and got excuses and empty promises. After living with dug up driveways for 11 days I called in another company to finish the job. Absolutely wonderful customer service. Our driveway is in poor condition and had them come out and seal. Noticed a few cracks after the application and called to ask if this was normal. They did not hesitate to come out fix the cracks and re seal the driveway in entirety. Did not expect this level of service and will definitely recommend them. read more

I have done business with Sealcoat Solutions for two years, last year they had to come back to re seal my driveway after missing several cracks. They just sealed my drive way yesterday and I noticed a large crack not sealed I called and talk to Dan, and he was rude and not understanding saying to me read the f@&$&@ contract we don't have to come back out and telling me how they do 16 million in business and don't need mine. I then talked to Nancy and she wanted me to pay to have them finish the job. I just wanted what I thought I was paying for a nice crack free driveway instead I got yelled at and disrespected. read more

This company deserves a 0 rating!! This is how terrible this company is. My husband signed a quote to get our driveway done with asphalt back on 9/25/2016. The quote stated the following for the amount of $2165.50: Remove and Replace: -Remove and dispose of existing asphalt -Install CA-6 Gravel Mix, as needed to insure a min. of (6) inches of stone -Fine grade and compact gravel base -Install (3) inches of compacted surface asphalt level with concrete surfaces They requested we give them a 50% deposit prior to starting the driveway. On 9/27 they called my husband and said they would be out to start the job on 9/28 and we could pay them when the job was completed. They arrived with six guys. 4 of them were standing around and watching the other 2 guys work and they only worked for about 4 hrs, if even that. They tore up the driveway and put some gravel down (Only a half of a truck load, if that). They said they had to wait for the inspector to come out and inspect the job before going further. That was done at 1:00 pm, on the same day. They said they would come back either later that afternoon or next day to pave and no show! Dan (Owner) sends my husband a text @ 8:51 pm (That same night they did the tare up) and states we need to pay him an additional $500 for gravel. When it clearly states in the contract "as needed". My husband clearly told him no. We are NOT paying for that additional gravel. He should have contacted him at the time they were putting the gravel down. But instead had to wait until late in the evening to do that! We would have never agreed anyway to that price. We had to wait for all the rain to stop and that was on 10/1/2016. On Oct 3, My husband sent Dan a text to find out when they were coming back. Dan says he has to wait a couple of days to let it dry out. Oct 5, my husband sends out another text to find out what is going on. Dan says "the guys were coming back out in the afternoon to check for the stability in the gravel and Dan says the soil under the driveway is holding water. I will let you know, what happens this afternoon." Really, news Flash this is the first about hearing about the soil issue. Once again, No show or never got a responds back from Dan. We had went back down to West Chicago to get a hold of the inspector. Now he has to come back out and re-inspect. We also, cancelled the contract with Dan/ sealcoat solutions as we are getting nothing but excuses and the run around. We were just told by the city of west chicago inspector- Dan did not put enough gravel down (some areas only had 1" and other areas up to 3" and also put the incorrect gravel on our driveway. He put crushed limestone instead of the #CA-6 stone that he quoted us for. NEVER GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY MONEY and STAY AWAY. They are scammers and cannot be up front and honest with their customer. I am a very unsatisfied customer. The cracks in our driveway we not sealed in a workmanlike manner, leaving 1/2" deep depressions. The two workers barely spoke English, and were there less than an hour. Called Nancy, the President, who wanted $50 to refill the cracks "per the contract". To protect themselves, they quoted the crack sealer as a "free service", and included an offer to come back and refill cracks for $50.00. I would not use them again. read more

I called this place a month ago to schedule a day to have my driveway sealcoated. They NEVER returned my phone call. I then hired another company to do my driveway. I wouldn't have even written this review but for the fact that TODAY, a month later, they send me an email letting me know they put me on their schedule for tomorrow. What kind of business operates like that? You would think that they would have called me at least once in the last month after I called them to hire them. read more
