Most recently I dashed out while my mom watched my 8 month old to get a hostess gift for our family friend. I was greeted as soon as I entered by perhaps the owner (a friendly blonde woman). I told her I was looking for specific gifts (cocktail napkins, coasters, and a candle) and she showed me where said merchandise was located in each of the rooms. The store is cozy and inviting, as the name suggests, and is full of beach themed goods for home. It's a great spot for picking out a quick hostess gift, or a clever birthday gift (think cute wooden signs, pillows, cheese boards etc). The store isn't cluttered though it is full of options. I found some beach chair coasters (heavy and substantive), and a lovely candle that had an orange vanilla fragrance and helped feed a hungry child in South America with its purchase. I tried to use my Target card but stupidly didn't realize that it only works at Target.com or in Target stores (I don't have the master card that works everywhere). Oops. I only brought an AMEX but she kindly let me use that. I would have had to go back to our beach house and get my other card. I will be back next time I am in town looking for a gift. Friendly service and an inviting shopping atmosphere are a plus!

The owner, Katie Winnington, has a smart & effective team approach to their work and I had the pleasure of working with both Erica Ellison and Britney Keidel as well as Katie on the design and execution of it. The outcome was terrific and the designers on my project were outstanding. I would say anyone going through a renovation has to have realistic expectations about the many challenging and difficult dynamics any quality interior design company deals with at any given time. What was nice was that they kept me informed. They told me if there was a supply chain issue on something I wanted to order. They told me if there was an unexpected hiccup in something. And each person, Erica, Britney and Katie, are very good at what they do. Any person doing a renovation of anything - a house, a room, a condo -who thinks it is easy work for the designer has unrealistic expectations. It is an extremely difficult business, and they earn every penny they charge. I had the cell phone numbers of each person with C&E I was working with, and if I had a question, and they were considerate about responding timely. I strongly recommend this company. Renovations are difficult: Be kind, thoughtful, reasonable and patient to who you work with when you undertake one. It pays enormous dividends - especially when you have people working as hard as the C&E team worked for me!

Conn Scott Furniture that I found a decent selection of quality furniture on the Eastern Shore. My salesman, Robert, went above and beyond to find a table and chairs that would coordinate with my condo and meet my requirements. I told him I wanted something beachy, casual, elegant with a touch of Mad Men styling. Robert showed me several alternatives and we decided on a Drexel table with chairs by Artistica. The result is drop dead beautiful and worthy of an Architectural Digest photo shoot. The quality of this furniture is unmatched. Also, the delivery men were careful of everything when delivering the furniture, they made sure the furniture was placed properly, and removed all packing material. J. Conn Scott employees are helpful, know the high end lines of furniture inside and out, and sincerely want you to be happy with the end result. I will be purchasing more furniture from J. Conn Scott in the near future.

I simply needed four boxsprings to lower two beds. I decided to contact this local store since they were near by. I realize that many stores are short staffed and might be working with customers. I did speak with a salesperson, placed an order, but then she had to make phone calls about delivery. We discussed two dates, and I remember wanting to coordinate our travels to our condo. I admit I wrote down the wrong date, but at 80 I am allowed to do it. Immediately when it was discovered it was not just a simple redelivery, but then there was another $150 for redelivery, and another $75 for rescheduling. I was then told to call the store to see if the salesperson could help get these fees waived. I spoke to her and she said she would do what she could do. Of course, she could not simply make a call, but this had to be handled by an email to the owner and the delivery manager. The more I thought about it, I realized that this store was all about the money and not service. After running a successful business for 40 years, I knew this was not the way to deal with customers. I called back and was told she did not have a response to her initial email. I explained that I just wanted to cancel the order. I then was cautioned that if I did that, they would still charge me the initial fees for the failed delivery and a 25% restocking fee. Mind you when I first spoke to them these items were in such demand I was told they might night be available. You decide if this is the kind of business you want to deal with. They have nice furniture so stick to that. After not getting anywhere with Alex been working with Marty the owner who won't let me get a word in edgewise is telling me it's on me for why things aren't moving along and has been extremely difficult communicating with.
