Visited during the holidays while in town to visit a friend. Was looking for something to do not that far from our hotel that was open until around dinner time and this worked out perfectly. It's located within the River Ridge mall so parking wasn't an issue. Besides standard aquarium fish there were plenty of other small animals like a cute capybara and toucan. The staff were friendly and asked if we had any questions. The path was easy to follow and there were plenty of benches to sit and rest. Holiday decorations and fun photo opportunities like the shark teeth were nice as well. Not the biggest aquarium but a reasonable size for the area. As an animal lover I enjoyed the visit. read more

We enjoyed our visit to SeaQuest on 2/8/25. SeaQuest has a wide variety of land and aquatic life. The staff are amazing. Very knowledgeable. There was a monitor outside his habitat, a staff member was closely watching him. I enjoyed watching the lizard walking around, checking things out. Some of the exhibits have an option to interact with the animals, depending on which animal, the interaction will cost a certain number of tokens. We stayed long enough to see the otters move around a little bit. It is a little pricey but worth it. You have to buy tokens for animal feed or animal interactions. You buy animal feed or fish food in a gumball machine. My only negative comment is the amount of food in the containers that come out of the machines. I helped my granddaughter feed the coy fish. The plastic container of food was more than half empty. It had about 8 little pieces of food in it. Seriously? I'm sure they buy the fish food in bulk so they could fill those little containers with more food. read more

Porcupine interaction: My husband and I went to SeaQuest primarily to meet the prehensile tailed porcupine. We were surprised that they actually have 2 of them, but they have them on separate schedules so they both get enough sleep and don't eat too many snacks. We really enjoyed getting to feed Penny the porcupine! I wish the website had specific information for this location's animals because it listed one animal with a different name and said you can handle (pet) the animal. This information seems to be for a different location. General exhibit info: The information posted about the animal species is very thorough and interesting. I loved learning about different species without having to search them up on my phone. It felt more interactive and fun because of the well designed information panels and signs. We loved seeing the capybaras, toucans, otters, and wallaby the most! The aquariums are well maintained and allow for excellent pictures of fish and other sea life. We would definitely return! Pros: Interesting animals, getting up close for pets and pictures, ability to recycle food containers (if you choose to feed animals), ability to watch the keepers feed the animals, options to purchase interactions with specific species, good quality books and gifts available Cons: Some narrow walkways, one way in and one way out, some animals will be unavailable during a visit due to their sleeping and feeding schedules because this is a small facility (as with any zoo or aquarium), some lower quality plastic toys and items (but that is almost anywhere that sells toys) read more

So first off, this is Covid-19 so a lot of the interactive feeding and petting was unavailable; no harm no foul. So like other reviewers, it was def weird how it's just in the mall. From description, I really thought it was going to be bigger. Around the world is more like around a small mall space. Thankfully it wasn't that crowded because we really would've been disappointed. The space is SMALL. Now, it looks like it could be fun for kids up to maybe age 6-7. I can't see big kids having too much fun at this spot. Maybe once you can interact with the animals more. They had an awesome Groupon for a family of four which included 8 tickets to feed the animals. Kids were still able to feed fish, so it was fun. We drove from Richmond, which took 2 hours... we were happy to check it out for sure. There were animals none of had seen in person, so we do not regret it at all. If expectations are managed prior to going, your family will have fun. The loss of two stars was due only to size of space and exhibits. read more

We had a blast one rainy day this month visiting SeaQuest. It's located in the mall so plenty of parking. Easy ticketing process as you walk through the mall to the front entrance and buy your admission and tokens ($2 each) to feed and pet different animals. The experience is all in one circle indoors and they've got tons of animals to feed or interact with as we did with fish, birds, turtles, capybara, wallaby, and bat rays! We loved it but the amount of food you get to feed them for $2 (a small smelt head or slice of carrot) is not much at all so that was disappointing but all in all, great experience for families and try to leave your jackets in the car! read more

What a cool place! Such a unique thing for a mall! They have aquariums, birds, and animals that you can feed. Our toddler had a blast petting the iguanas and capybara, as well as feeding the birds and fish. We hope to visit their CO location in the future! read more

This place was fantastic! Perfect place to visit on a hot summer day. Kids absolutely loved it (ages 14-9) and it was perfect for all of them. Lots of interactive and educational aspects. Chris was the animal handler for lots of the small mammals for us today and man he is fantastic on all levels. Fantastic with the way he talks to children so they knew the boundaries and rules, fantastic with the educational facts about the animals, super knowledgeable, friendly kind and took the extra mile to explain things - he is a tremendous resource for Seaquest. It is obvious that he knows his stuff and loves his job. Had my older kids asking questions about working at place like Seaquest when they get older. Wasn't sure what to expect, especially as we pulled up and it was a mall. No signage or anything, had to jump out and ask the security person. Signage of some sort would be recommended - GPS brings you to the movie theater. All and all, a win for a day trip. read more

This is the best little "zoo" I've ever been to. We got to feed and pet so many animals up close. The staff is amazing and knowledgeable!!! They go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying yourself. The animals are well taken care of and you can tell the staff really enjoys working here. I definitely suggest going here. The price is reasonable, it's not crowded and it's quiet ( which is perfect for my daughter with sensory needs ) we had such an amazing time. Such a fun place to take the family! However it is a little pricey when it's not nearly as much to do there. They do have a variety of animals from farm to sea creatures. I believe the kids most favorite thing was playing with the sting rays! We are planning to go back soon and interact with the animals again. This was pretty cool and much better than expected for a mall setting. I'm giving this 4.4 stars and I think my wife, daughter, and granddaughter would give it a solid 5 stars. I believe the cost was $17 for an adult... not sure for a child. Additional tokens can be purchased for up close adventures which I loved. Loved the coy pond, sting rays aquarium, etc. Gift shop has lots of items for purchase including a Bob Ross doll (we are still trying to figure that one out). OK: - The girls were disappointed that they couldn't see the Sloth up close - The lighting in here was a little bit dark and dreary.. they could improve on that and maybe some music. read more

It's not as small as people on here made it out to be. There are plenty of petting and interaction opportunities and they add up quickly. Be prepared to spend a good $100+ for two people and want to feed the animals and whatnot. The sloth is nocturnal so he's asleep but it's nice to get up and close. I wouldn't pay the extra money to see him again unless he was awake. My personal favorite was feeding the parakeets. That costs an extra token but it's an incredible experience having a handful of these energetic birds fighting for the food in your hand I enjoyed feeding the silkies chickens as well. They don't really tell you that where you can go it and what kind of interaction you can have unless you seek them out. Adding the coins to the admission adds up. I suggest going through once and then deciding on how many tokens you'll need to touch or feed the animals. They have random hand wash stations which was nice. read more

Drove a little over 2 hours- didn't look at reviews. Customer service was amazing, everyone was nice and knowledgeable. The two negative is the pricing- it's way over priced for the size, and the sizing of the animals homes are way too small. Two animals tried to escape while we were there. ( please get them larger exhibits) Plus you have to pay for tokens to feed the animals. (Which came out to be another $20) If you can catch a sale on Groupon- check it out , other than that-It's not worth it unless you want to spend $100 for 20 mins. We literally walked the entire thing in about 15-20 mins. The 3 stars are for all the kind employees! Also please get Norman(turtle) a partner to mate- him pacing up and down looking for another turtle broke my heart. read more

Great little excursion that's perfect for kids. This place is like a next level petting zoo. Located inside a mall, this place is fully indoors (and blessedly temperature controlled when it is sweltering hot outside!) They pack a lot of animals into a small space and it's nice how you can interact with and feed many of the animals (for additional tokens). I purchased discount tickets from Rush29 and had no problem using the tickets the next day. Highlights for us were feeding the iguanas, toucan, and other birds. Hubby loved feeding and petting the baby wallabies. I loved the water area where you can crawl into a small glass tunnel for a more immersive experience with the sharks and sting rays! We didn't pay up for any of the experiences but I'd consider it for future special occasions (yes, I WOULD like to hang out with a sloth!) read more

All of the farmland in Lynchburg and they have to put this in a big concrete mall. The enclosures were WAY to small for the animals, it broke my heart. The pigs were constantly slipping on the concrete floor with their hooves. The tortoise was constantly pacing back and forth. The enclosure for the kangaroo area looked to be less than 200 square. And it was poorly lit with no natural light. If these places can not provide adequate space for the animals they need to be shut down. read more

Lots of interesting animals to see here. We read the reviews prior to entering and took our time to spot each animal and not rush through. We spent a good hour-90 minutes here. I really wish my Sloth loving child could have SEEN the sloth, I know due to Covid she could not pet it but it was asleep and she didn't even see it's face. I am a bit concerned for a few animals as they seemed cramped. It would be good to know that someone takes them outside occasionally because there were 3 pigs in a space smaller than my bedroom and they looked bored. Savannah cat was beautiful but I could just imagine that curious minded creature being bored to death in that small enclosure. (hope it gets out of there occasionally, because I can't imagine spending entire life in one little room) read more

You are never too old for an aquarium!! Decided to host my boyfriend's birthday party here! We were running late but they still could accommodate us. Everyone was so nice. We had a small room with a tv to set up food and to hangout with friends! We enjoyed meeting the armadillo for our interaction. We then got to spend the rest of the day going through the place. Our main goal was to see and pet the capybaras! The girl was very nice and our group broke up to go in and pet them. It was a great experience. There was so many animals I did not expect. Feeding the birds was a cool experience! Only "complaints" I had was that there were other animals you could feed and pet but never anyone there to do so. The stingray tank was not open either for petting. Some of the machines you put the feed coin into just ate our coins and gave us no feed. The areas for the animals are super small, I hope they are provided with enrichment time and more space to roam- some of the animals were walked around by handlers like the turtle and pigs! read more

It blows my mind that their are such good reviews for this place. If you even remotely like or care about animals this it NOT the place for you. Saying the enclosures are small would be generous. There are quite a few "exotic" animals i.e. not anything you would see on the east cost much less Lynchburg. Capybara, sloth, joeys, otters, and African cats. They all look plain depressed. There's very little artificial light and absolutely no sunlight. As this place is in the middle of the mall it makes me wonder if these animals even see the light of day.... The concrete floor in some enclosures is barely covered in straw for the animals. There's a rolling petition to get Seaquest nationwide shutdown for these reasons among others. We took the grand kids here when they were in town. What a fabulous place! Highly recommend it if you are looking for a superlative, educational, fun, hands-on experience. The animals were wonderfully habituated and very well tended. From the capybaras to the tortoise and from the wallabys to the rainbow trout tank, this is a unique experience in our area. I would be remiss to not mention the animal whisperers who oversaw the interactions between visitors and the animals. They were welcoming, very friendly, and knowledgeable about their respective charges. Thank you, SeaQuest, for a memorable afternoon. Wow. This place is a little gem! I was in town for a week and needed something to do with my little one year old. It was the perfect place, for her AND me. The staff are so nice, and decently knowledgeable about the animals they are taking care of. They also seem like they genuinely enjoy working there. This place packs a lot of animals in a small place, but they don't seem crowded. They just really work the space well. Capybaras, iguanas, WALLABIES...awesome fun experiences too. You can feed birds upon birds (you gotta pay, of course. But it's not that bad! Just buy a bunch of tokens up front and use em at your leisure). You can touch the sting rays and bat rays (my personal favorite), get upclose with so many animals...I can't express enough how fun this was for me and my family. I would go back just to watch the bat rays swim around. So peaceful. The only downside is that it kinda smells like animals in there. But, it's a small space. It's understandable. And the animals probably wouldn't like it if there were a bunch of fans blowing it all away, so..I'll take it. Also, it's located in a super cute mall!!! So when you're tired of looking at cute cute animals, you can head on over to your favorite stores. I am definitely coming back here again when I am up in Lynchburg. read more

This was so much fun! I could tell the animals were well taken care of and as someone with a disability, it's great! It's small and not crazy hot! Staff was friendly! Definitely the most fun I've had in awhile. The only thing that kind of worried me was the hand sanitizer by the stingray tank. Chemicals in soaps and sanitizers can hurt them. It may have been completely fine and stingray friendly though! I did also like the fact that when you could feed animals, they were good and healthy snacks like fish, blueberries, and lettuce! I took my wife to SeaQuest for her birthday. She had an amazing time thanks to the outstanding staff and the well cared for animals. Every staff member we met was enthusiastic and displayed a love for their job. The animal interactions supervised by an "animal whisperer" were educational and personal. I found this on a Groupon but would have gone without it. It's in the mall and looks very inviting from the outside. It's a really fun place for families with kids of all ages. My 5-year-old and 12 -year old both enjoyed themselves. Some of the interactions weren't open which was a little disappointing but I knew that before going. Even the interactions that weren't open still had animals to look at, you just couldn't get as close as maybe you otherwise would. We loved feeding the fish and stingrays. There are tons of animals and they were all pretty active and fun to look at. The bird-feeding experience is really exciting. There is a huge tortoise you can get really close to and a sloth! You can get through it in about an hour and a half but if you linger it'll take longer, of course. We took our time and had a great experience. It's a little pricey with the cost of tickets and then the cost of feeding tokens so be prepared to spend upwards of $70 for a family. If I'm ever in the area again or if this were local I'd definitely go back and it would be great for a kid's birthday party. read more

We drove over an hour to get there, stand in line for over 30 minutes to finally get tickets. We bought our tickets(buy online they are cheaper but they ask you a lot of demographics which I did not like) we buy tokens to feed the animals and walk in. Lines are everywhere, food machines are empty, people are pushing and just plain old disrespectful. I understand it was a weekend but they should have had more people set up to guide and direct the flow of the crowd and to fill up the food containers so my children could have enjoyed also. 10/10 recommend!! The staff was so nice and amazing! We just moved to Virginia from California. The California SeaQuest was terrible in Folsom. Sooo many people, HUGE lines and outside, for Almost an hour! ( if you don't know California then you don't know how bad that sun and heat can be With young kids. It was aweful! It was also way smaller too. And just jam packed. THIS SeaQuest was 100x better!! There's Inside waiting lines away from the heat and cold, because it's actually inside of a mall, super sweet and nice staff, and waaay more exhibits. And I cannot express enough about how nice the staff members were! They were very attentive from the beginning all the way to the gift shop!!! My kids are begging to go back! The animals were all so clean and well kept! It was an awesome experience!! And my girls got to meet the sweetest mermaid!! It's was definitely memorable!!
