Caverns were beautiful - a lot smaller than some we've been to but totally worth the long tour. This was an add-on to a visit to Natural Bridge and I feel like the two complimented one another perfectly for a nice long afternoon in the area. Friendly tour guide and we weren't rushed. This was just about half a mile from Natural Bridge State Park. The cavern tour was interesting, filled with facts about the caverns and history of people who owned the caverns in the past. It was a little dark but for the most part, we could see everything well. Some people were talking about slippery areas and difficult stairs. I would say as long as you don't have major pain or injuries that prevent you from climbing stairs, anyone with a minimal fitness level can do them as long as you are wearing shoes with a good grip and hold on to the railings provided as you descend/ascend. There is also a very nice 3 mile hiking loop shaded with trees on the property. You can hike in the morning, bring a picnic, and cool off in the cave in the afternoon. read more

I love caverns so we just had to go. I love that the temperature is always the same and no matter what the weather is outside it is perfect in the caverns. These caverns are the smallest and wish the price of the tour matched the size of the caverns. Staff are always nice and they try to make it fun. Love when they turn the lights out but people ruin it with their phones. Please be kind for the rest of us and put your phone in a pocket or just cover it with your jacket. I will not be recommending these caverns because there are other caverns that are tons better. They would be a 5 star if the price matched the size of the caverns. There is not much to do in the Natural Bridge area. We did it all in 2 days. So if you only have 3 days like we did this is an ok place. The last thing. We found out later that there are packages that are less in price. We were never offered or told about the package deals. We found out at the Dinosaur Kingdom II. They are super awesome for telling us all the information. I wish that the caverns told us this. We went to everything and would have loved a package deal. My advice is look for package deals and this tour is awesome if it is your first time to caverns and kids will love it read more

Great caverns. Elizabeth was a wonderful tour guide. One very big issue: nearly the whole tour is either a steep incline walk or a steep decline walk. With the 99% humidity and wet pathways, this is a taxing walk for older seniors. Please just be aware. read more

This is a lesser-known caverns in Virginia, about 1/2 a mile from the entrance to the Natural Bridge park. The tour, at least the one I took in late January, only had about 5 people in it, making it more intimate and informative than tours probably held in the warmer months. The caverns were beautiful but nothing really stood out to push it over Grand Caverns in terms of awe-inspiring, but you can't go wrong with any caverns in Virginia. The store attached to the caverns entrance sells well-priced items that are less kitschy than other caverns in the state. Recommended if you are visiting Natural Bridge. read more

Nice cavern to visit when you are in the area, or as part of your Cave & Karst trail down Virginia's mountains. This one has a long entry tunnel and lots of steps. A few low spots for tall people to watch out for. The guide was very nice and patient with us taking photos. This cavern is very alive with lots of dripping water. It does have some green growth from human interaction/lights, but not too bad on damage with people touching the formations. It also has some cool giant boulders and crevasses. You don't get to see the whole thing, but the tour is still worth it. Wear a jacket and good shoes. I was able to use my monopod to get nice photos. They have a well stocked gift shop with reasonable prices. You can buy a gem bag and take it out back to the sluice to pan for pretty rocks (good for kiddos.) On Thursday the tours were every hour at the top of the hour. read more

Glad we discovered the caverns while visiting the land bridge. This is a state run location not commercial and it shows, they are concerned about maintenance and limited disturbances. Likewise they will tell you about some student projects and show you the entrance to areas for experts. I felt good about supporting this type of location and would encourage others to when in the area. As a history person it was cool to hear about the initial discovery and learn about their more recent finds as well as the changes due to various occurrences. Caves are a cool Virginia feature worth visiting, just remember to watch you step and your head when navigating the caves. read more

Definitely worth checking out if you in to these kind of things! The history behind this cave and who found it is pretty cool. The fact that the temperature of the cage is the same all year is cool. Our tour guide was awesome he was so funny and good with the history! It's definitely is slippery and steep steps but worth it. My little kids made it through so with kids it's still fun. When they do the lights out that is awesome. You can not see anything but it's a awesome experience! As long as nobody has a phone or watch going off it's cool! read more

Giving 4 stars because our guide, Rachel, was So personable & attentive. I have visited other caverns much more interesting but these are worth a see. Only negative is the safety issue. Lots of slippery places & the material they use to help that was muddy & itself was slippery. Some spots were better to just step on the floor & avoid the non-slip material! Be sure to wear non-slip shoes & a medium weight jacket. Some spots are 50ish degrees!! Use handrails. Go early. The tours tend to be smaller then. read more

We came here on a Sunday afternoon after going to the Natural Bridge National Park. Our tour guide was great, he was funny and informative. Our 45 minute guide made that time go by quick. The tickets to the Park is separate from the Cavern. The Cavern did offer military discount. Make sure you were tennis shoes and a sweatshirt since it is slippery and in the 50's inside the cavern. read more

Located just down the road from the "Natural Bridge". We had an awesome energetic guide (Alexia) who was very knowledgeable and ensured we had a great time on the tour presenting fun facts and interesting stories. This is the deepest cave in the East Coast - around 350 feet down. Go during the month of October as the cavern offers Lantern Tours at night. I think the lantern tour would be fun. Our guide did a wonderful job sharing the cavern's history and life story. This was definitely a more natural cavern, and by far one of the best I have seen yet. We were lucky to see a few bats in their natural habitat coming in to hibernate for the winter. P.S. Get the combo tickets (Cave tour and Natural Bridge) for $20 - This is the best deal. read more

Went on a tour with my family. These caverns are modest in size but are the deepest on the east coast. The tour guide, John, was friendly and professional. The gift shop was well stocked and decently priced. We had a full/almost full tour of about 35 people, which made it a little difficult to navigate the smaller rooms. Sometimes you wouldn't be able to see what the guide was referring to, but he was happy to repeat info and point out points of interest when requested. read more

The only thing I would say is this requires a bit more athletic ability than Luray and other industrialized caverns...lots of stairs, but a great workout with beautiful scenery. This is a cool place to visit if you're in southwestern Virginia. You're taken by guided tour down into the cavern and told about the history and ecology of the area. The tour is a bit brief for $18 but for $2 more you can take the trail to the Natural Bridge. Also note that no matter how hot and humid it is outside, down in the cavern it's pretty cold so be sure to bring layers. Recommended. read more

Highly recommend visiting the caverns after your visit the natural bridge or before. And, if you aren't planning on visiting the natural bridged, well you should. Also, you can get combo tickets here. I haven't been to many caverns in my life (Luray and a couple in South East Asia), but I found this one to be very interesting, it is the deepest cave in the East Coast, around 350 feet. It is very rustic, which I loved. Our tour guide, Ryan was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. And, he has some bad jokes. It you are in the area, go check them out. read more

Great attraction for families. Makes a wonderful first cavern for those under 5 as long as they can handle the steep climbs. The tour is very thorough but very brief. Luckily we went during the holidays and the tickets were discounted to $12. I can't imaging paying more than that. Turning the lights off was a fun experience and the highlight of the tour. Another fun aspect of this cavern is that there is a creek that runs through it; however, this causes the cavern to be more slippery than other caverns. If you are in the area, Grand Caverns is less than an hour north and might be better suited for you. The tour is longer and the sights are more breathtaking. With that said, Caverns at Natural Bridge are great for younger patrons and those who want a shorter cavern experience for various reasons. read more

Our tour guide was very nice, as was the counter staff. The caverns however are extremely small. The smallest I've ever been to in Virginia and the men's room could have been cleaner, there is a very strong smell of urine. Had it not been for the combo ticket with natural bridge admission I would have been even more disappointed paying $18 for this underwhelming cavern tour. read more
