The replacement came at 7:30am with no notice of arrival. it was good I hadn't left for work yet. Now, I'm dealing with a fridge repair. They scheduled us with a local repair company but never confirmed their availability. So, there was a no show and havent been able to get Sears on the phone for 4 days now. Called the local repair shop they assigned and had to schedule with them personally. Sears advertises they are available 24/7. sure, if you don't mind talking to a computer. The technician was supposed to arrive and they just called to say I have to reschedule and hung up before I could respond. The next available appointment is in a week. Bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator 4 years ago. First time it broke down we bought the service policy from Sears Home. What I should have done was the throw the 14 month old unit in the trash and bought one from someone else. Sears home services can never come out in under a week, when they do come out, they don't have the parts to repair the unit. When the parts come in, it again takes weeks to get a tech back out. If the repair doesn't work, its weeks again to get a tech out. We've replaced the fans 4 times, the compressor once, the evaporator once, had several visits to replace sensors. The latest was no ice being made and the freezer wasn't cooling enough. Several weeks of making then having sears cancel the appointment finally got a tech out. A sensor had frosted over for no apparent reason. After he left the compressor was making a lot of noise, so much that I could hear it from another room. Tech came out (after waiting a week) said a fan was hitting a wire, after he left the noise came back, got another appointment for the next day between 8 and 12:00. Delayed leaving for vacation to get this taken care of. Finally left the house at 1:00, received a call at 6:00 saying the tech was delayed and we have to reschedule. Now the next appointment is in two weeks. No wonder Sears is circling the drain. read more

I purchased a Sears Home Warranty earlier this year. At the time of purchase my AC was working. About a month ago the AC stops working and I call Sears. Two companies came to my home and indicated that the repair would be covered. The first company didn't take the job because they had previous jobs and the second company stopped providing me with updates. Sears sends another company who were racist and rude to my 73 year old mother. After they left, I received an email from Sears saying it was not covered. I asked them to send someone else out and they refused. I paid for a company to come who indicated that I had a leak in the coils. When I reviewed my policy, coils should be covered, however Sears refuses. My 73 year old mom has asthma and my family has suffered because of no ac with 90 degree temps. After several calls, a manager finally called me back and told me to send the invoice from the company that I paid. I have done so, and still have not heard anything back from Sears. The other AC system in my house is now trying to cool the entire house and condensation is leaking from the vents down my walls. Why wouldn't coils be covered? Who will replace the other unit once that goes out? This has been an absolute nightmare for me and my family and I would not recommend that anyone purchase a Sears Home Warranty!!!!!!! read more

I have bought several major appliances from Sears and have purchased extended warranties more than once. Never again. At least our local Sears handles repairs strictly in defensive mode: How can we avoid fixing the problem? First tactic is to blame the problem on the customer. Their first line defense is to send out a subcontractor who is not a Nobel prize-winner. He has no literary awards. No Pulitzers or National Book Awards to speak of. Thinking and speaking are not his strengths. Moreover, he isn't even trained to fix more serious or expensive problems. He or she will invariably find the problem in your drain, or in the way you load your clothes or dishes, etc. He is not equipped to solve the problem even if he wanted to. We had one technician actually pour a bowl of pennies down our drain and then claim that our clogged drain was causing the problem with the washer. If you are persistent, after 2-3 calls (which result in you waiting around the house half the day, naturally), you will get someone who is actually trained to fix problems. He will find a higher-level problem, such as the wrong error code. He won't be able to replace the expensive part it needs because the previous guy didn't actually order it (they ship it to your house, rather than equipping the repair people). If your problem is intermittent, it won't do the thing when the repair guy shows up and he will say there's nothing he can do, but by all means call him the next time it does the thing. He leaves his card, which proves to be phony. So you run a load of laundry. It does the thing. You call Sears and say "Right now my machine is not functioning!" The response: No, sorry, it has to do it when the technician is there, nothing we can do. OK, now, you're pissed. Now it is time to drop the politeness. You rant, you stomp. You might curse, just a little bit. Eventually, they get tired of you and they agree to replace the expensive part that you knew in the first place had blown because it has done this three times before. Finally, four, maybe five calls in, the parts arrive by UPS, you schedule the repair. Repair guy is late. Maybe 2 hours, maybe more. He doesn't call until he's 10 mins. away. With luck, though, the problem is solved. But meantime, you receive literally five or six calls asking if you want to extend your warranty! Are you shitting me you tell them but no, they call back and back, sometimes two-three times on the same day. You give them credit for cojones. But you vow to use the more expensive but more reliable local independent repair guy in future. For these are days you cannot get back. They are lost to fate. Do not use this service! We initiated a repair on October 27 and were told that the needed parts would be delivered in "3 to 4 work days." By December 8, we had called several times to find out what happened with our delivery. Each time we were given a new delivery date. On one occasion they even told us that the parts had been shipped four days previous to our call. On December 8, they again gave us a new delivery date, yet again with no explanation of why it kept getting postponed nor of why they never notified us that the parts were not being shipped on schedule. read more

Not sure 1 star is good enough. Called Sears for Kenmore Elite Refrigerator Ice Maker and Water Dispenser not working. Sears sent first technician out, he said that he could not do even diagnose because the Model # was not legible. I later found out that in his notes he said the refrigerator was inaccessible. 3-4 days later Sears sent out another Tech from Arcnet Appliance Repair. The tech requested I turn off the water supply and back on, he examined the Ice Maker and Water Dispenser not functional and confirmed that in my presence. I later found out in his report, he said that the refrigerator gasket was damaged. Sears denied my claim because they do not cover damaged refrigerator gasket. I challenged the denial stating that the service call was not for refrigerator gasket but for Ice Maker and Water Dispenser not working. I was requested to send them a video of the Ice Maker and Water Dispenser not working. I uploaded a video to youtube for their review. They reviewed the video and still denied my claim. In my opinion, Arcnet Appliance Repair tech did not provide a truthful diagnosis to sears, did not report the actually concern which ultimately lead to the denial. I called Arcnet Appliance Repair and he response to me was that 'I just advice you to go buy another refrigerator cause they will deny your claim'. I fell these repair company may be advised by sears to fin means of reporting issues that would guarantee denial. So my advice is, do not use Sears, if you already do, call in the service call, do not use the website cause the is no way to actually review the reason for the call (doh in this age and time of internet logs) make sure you document / video record the technician visit. While I would say that the customer support rep and the escalation manager were pleasant to deal with, the Technician and the Department that authorizes the claim are all shady and very untruthful in their dealings. My entire experience has took over 4weeks after which I was finally told that I need to open another service request and pay another deductible to have them come out again. I needed help, so I called Sears. My washing machine was leaking water. Terry arrived and was very professional. He answered all of my money questions with expertise and patience. He did try to up sell a few times but he wasn't overly aggressive with it. I declined warranty at the time because I needed to speak with the Mr. The checking out part could have been easier but Terry advised that Sears is working on a better system. The app he had wasn't able to read my check and they don't have credit card swipe abilities. He had to call Customer Service to verify my payment and then they tried upselling. I bought a dishwasher from Sears for approximately $900 last year. One month out of warranty and it stopped completely. So I called Sears. Sears contracts with A&E out of Glen Burnie. The A&E guy showed up on time. Quoted me $500+ to repair the dishwasher. Still. . . He came back the following week. Without the part. Ordered the part, which I had to pay for up front to the tune of $409. Came back the third time. Claimed it was not the dishwasher but an electrical problem. I noted I had a dishwasher that ran there for 10 years before being replaced and the broken one had run for a year, so I doubted it was electrical. He was insistent. I paid an electrician, who took all of 5 minutes to say "There's nothing wrong electrically. The dishwasher's broken." A & E came back the fourth time. This time "oh, the master control is bad." New part ordered for $320. And the guy won't refund for the first part via credit card, says I have to wait for a check. But he promises the part will be there overnight and he will be back to install it immediately. He left me his cell number. Part comes overnight. The service guy is unreachable. Sears hung up on me twice, telling me to call A & E. A&E told me I had to call Sears. So now I have had no dishwasher for a month, and Thanksgiving was looming. I hired Mike's Appliances out of Frederick. They found the burned circuit board within 30 minutes. So it wasn't the master control. Surprise. I bought a new dishwasher from Lowe's, Mike's came back on a Saturday morning to install it. I disputed the charges with A&E on my credit card. Because of course I didn't receive a refund check. Sear's has done nothing but mess me over in scheduling my repair of our 2 year old broken LG refrigerator. They missed the first appointment date completely and did not contact me. Then when i contacted them, they arranged to come the next day, which they did. The problem is a bad compressor. the repair to big and they did not have the part, so scheduled for 2 weeks hence, when we came back into town. they did not show up that day. Every hour, the appointment was changed by an hour. And, when I called, i was told technician would call me. He did not. Eventually, 6 hours late, when I checked the appointment check thing on the phone, it said the technician had arrived. He had not. Then, 15 minutes later, when i checked the appointment check, it said my appointment was 5 days later... I called, for the millionth time, and was told that no, the technician was on the way. He did not come. I called half an hour later, and was told my appointment was 5 days later. I hit the roof!! I managed to get it for 3 days later. Worst service experience ever! I have had a Master Protection Agreement with Sears for years and have never had the issues I have had with a dishwasher repair. Feb-Sears sent out a third-party repair company. They incorrectly installed a heating element and it melted through the bottom of my dishwasher and flooded my kitchen, ruined my hardwood floors and ceiling in the basement. Sears scheduled the SAME third party company to repair it, of course, they came and said they had to order parts...they never came back. Three more appointments with Sears technicians that "cancelled" the appointments (even though I took off work to sit and wait for them) because they told me the whole repair was an insurance claim. This was not the case and I went though six more appointments (some of which kept getting further delayed by the technician, one of which ordered unnecessary parts because he did not want to do the 3 hour repair) and finally had the entire inside of the dishwasher replaced. The final technician could not test the dishwasher because he stated that a previous technician kinked the copper water line and he left telling me that I had to call a plumber to complete the repair. Found out that it wasn't just a kink when he left, but he had actually broken the line and it slowly leaked for days until it finally came out from under the dishwasher and was noticed. Damaged my floors for a second time. Had to hire a plumber (weekend prices) to fix the leak and he also had to organize the wires left hanging. Dishwasher currently does not clean well and Sears will not do anything about the repair until there has been 4 parts repairs. Even though I sat for 10+ appointments and spent hours on the phone, I still have to wait for another appointment...with another third party company. It is almost impossible to get a someone on the phone that can do anything other than "schedule a technician". I have an extended warranty on a Kenmore Elite stove, which I purchased after the stove initially stopped working after owning it for less than a year. At that time, I was under the initial warranty and it was repaired without issue. Recently, I have had issues with the stovetop itself working and contacted the repair service section, who sent out a contractor to examine the issue. The contractor spoke with whomever to get approval, and the process began to repair the stove...this was in August. The contractor has been out to my home three times with a replacement stovetop and each time the stovetop replacement part was damaged in the box. The contractor (whom I have not a single complaint about), being wise did not install the part, but reordered it and would come back to the house to install, unfortunately due to the damaged parts in was never installed. Finally, I contacted Sears again and asked for a replacement stove as I could no longer take the time off of work to wait for a service person, only to not have the stove top fixed. Each time I call to get assistance and my case reviewed, I am on the phone with Sears weekly for over an hour each time. Nobody is able to help with resolving my case, and they keep saying that there are no notes from the contractor that report he was out...that report he couldn't repair the stove. I have spoken to the contractor on several occasions directly, who reports that he did in fact put in notes, and he has stated, "Unit is not repairable with the part that where provided and in a timely manner. Multiple cooktops were ordered and received damage. Call was originally placed in August." Each time I call Sears, and spend time out of my life I will never get back, I am repeatedly put on hold while they research my case, tell me the ticket was closed, but will open a new one and expedite the process. I have never experienced such incompetence and poor customer service in my life. I am unsure as to why, since we are now in November, and my issue has not been resolved why this isn't corrected. I can't imagine, or explain what a ridiculous situation that has become. There are many brands to choose from in this global market, and I can assure Sears (if still standing after bankruptcy - which makes sense), that I will NEVER purchase anything from you again. I mentioned that this has been going on since August, and this is now Thanksgiving week....great job Sears... It has been over 16 days since I wrote this and not a single follow up from Sears. I still have no resolution to my issue and there has been no contact, albeit I did get a $50 check for my troubles from them. However, nothing has been resolved. I fully understand why Sears is filing bankruptcy and there is no hope for them to recover. I recently read an article for Black Friday discussing how empty Sears was during a major shopping day, but I get it. Horrible customer service. I reached out to them as a warranty customer on May 10, and received a service call for 5/12. The tech came out and looked at the dishwasher. He stated he would need to order parts. I said ok and what is the next step from there. He said the parts would come and for me to call the dispatch customer service line and have them put me on the schedule for the next day. SO I followed his instructions. They were not able to honor that. FIRST PROBLEM. Following that I got them to come out and the following monday or so I thought. They had my appointment scheduled under the wrong account. So needless to say the tech never showed up. Then I was rescheduled for Wednesday and the technician came out and said "oh I need to order another part because now something else is going wrong." So he orders the part or so he claims and tells me that it should be here quickly and try to get him back on the schedule. So the part did not come until 3 days later. Then I was not able to get on the schedule until the following thursday of the next week. So he them comes again and the tech tells me "I can't fix this, I am going to put a request in for a replacement." So I am like ok again and how long to I have to wait then. "well they will contact you and set up the replacements service". Well that was on the friday before Memorial Day weekend and it is 6/12/2020 still no dishwasher and have not heard anything from the warranty company. I have emailed and I have called and people keep giving me the runaround. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and I am writing my review on this website. They never have a problem taking my money monthly, for the bill and no problem taking my money for the deductible. We've used them before and been pleased, but I'd give them zero stars this time if I could. Our fridge died and my wife called to setup a repair appointment. The guy on the phone had a barely understandable accent and at first offered an appointment the next day. Then, he spent so much time trying to convince her to sign up for an extended warranty plan, that she lost that appointment and had to get one 2 days later. The night before we got no reminder call/text which was suspicious. Halfway into our service window we started wondering... she checked her email and saw that the first confirmation email for our time, then another email sent TWO MINUTES after the first with a notice that our appointment had been rescheduled for ONE WEEK AFTER THE ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT. And no phone call or text or any other notice, no apology, nothing. So 2 minutes after our phone call, they just rescheduled us for one week later. No wonder Sears is going out of business and closing stores. If this is typical customer service, that is a well earned fate. read more

My experience with Sears Home Repair in fall/winter 2017 was the worst I've ever had in my 12-year history of owning 2 properties. It's clear Sears is about to go out of business and their service reflects it. I urge you not to waste your time or money. Not only was my repair never fixed (leaking washing machine) after THREE visits (where I had to miss work three times), but I have been told 4 times I would receive a refund and 3 months later am still fighting with their customer service to make good on their promises. It turns out my issue was not difficult - I ultimately called an independent technician who fixed the issue on his first visit. However, this time when my Kenmore dishwasher, which is under warranty, started leaking, I called Sears, which outsourced the repair to another company called TriState something without telling me. This has been an awful experience, and my dishwasher is still not fixed after four weeks. First, the repairman came, took the dishwasher apart, looked puzzled, and then called Sears Parts to order the part. I heard the man on the other end of the phone tell him that he had to order three parts to make that repair, not just one part. Not off to a good start. Two weeks later I called Sears to find out what was happening, where are the parts? It was then that I found out the job had been outsourced. I called TriState, and they told me the part would be in that same day, and they would call me. My dishwasher had now been broken for three weeks. One week later I called TriState to find out where the parts are. They said they were still waiting, one part had come in but the others hadn't. I asked them to call Sears Parts. I called back later and they said the part was being expedited and they could do the repair the next day, which is today. To accommodate their schedule, I missed an event I had bought tickets for. The same repairman came back. He took apart the dishwasher, opened the boxes of two parts, and then looked puzzled for about ten minutes. He consulted his phone. Finally he swore and said there was still one part missing. Could he not have checked that before coming out? He told me to bring bath towels to put his tools on, and in general, seemed to be ordering me about quite rudely. I don't generally put my bath towels under greasy tools. He called his boss (speaking in another language). Then he started tinkering with the dishwasher. I asked him what he was doing. He said that he was going to "try" to fix the dishwasher without the necessary part, and we would "see" if "maybe" it would work. I then told him that I'm not willing to "try" to fix the dishwasher without the required part, to see if "maybe" it works. I asked him to leave. I called Sears, and after a long time on hold, they told me I have to call back after Christmas to put in a request for a Sears Kenmore repairman, which I have to wait 48 hours for the request to be approved. Sears, what has happened to you? No Sears repairman has ever sworn, been rude, asked for my towels, tried a repair that he didn't know how to do, or anything like that. I called Sears Home Services for a Kenmore refrigerator that had a slow leak. The repairman diagnosed the problem--a break in the ice maker water tubing--for a $99 diagnostic fee. He then said the repair would cost $250 for a WHOLE REEL of tubing plus $300 for labor! I declined the repair and found a local appliance repairman who solved the problem with a union coupling for a total of $120 parts and labor. So Sears wanted $550 on top of the $99 diagnostic fee for this repair. What a rip-off. read more

On 2/6/19 I had Sears Home Services (800-4-MY-HOME) come out & look at a water heater (Power Miser 12) that I had installed (12/14/2012) for which I purchased an extended warranty. The person they sent was a self proclaimed (Heating & Air Conditioning guy) who knew little about water heaters. He had me pay $99, told me that he videoed my water heater and sent it to an analyst for review but in his opinion the insulation was wet & water was leaking and they would probably replace and I would have to pay labor costs. I offered the paperwork from the 2012 but he said someone else would request that when the time came. Today Sears Home Services (Billy 888-317-3267) called & leaves a message that Sears determined that my warranty expired in 2015 (no mention of the extended warranty I purchased in 2012) or the manufacturers warranty of 12 years for the Power Miser 12, just that it wasn't covered & I could call if I wanted to, so I did. Again, he reiterated without any questions about the extended warranty that "I was not covered". While I was frustrated & angry, I explained that he (Billy) had never asked about the purchase of an extended warranty or that a SEARS rep had explained on 2/6 that the KENMORE Power Miser 12 came with a 12yr warranty, so I asked to speak to "his" supervisor & he said he didn't have one. So I've been in the workforce since 1979 and for 14 years I actually worked for SEARS and it's my experience that "everyone" has a supervisor. SEARS & SEARS HOME SERVICES need only look "internally" at the products and warranties, as well as the personnel behind their promises of service to understand why they are failing.....WOULD NEVER BUY FROM "SEARS" AGAIN NOR SHOULD ANYONE ELSE!!!!! read more

Had refrigerator repaired yesterday. Overpaid by $100+ even after a %20 discount(the discount is a joke). Called several others (after the fact) and the price for the entire job was the same as Sears labor charge alone after the discount. 15 minutes for $357(part $101.50, could have paid $257 for entire job). Frig is fixed. Cost was a rip off. Only people you can reach to discuss this are in the Philippines(3 calls). I'll never use SEARS again. read more

The only reason I'm giving 1 star is it doesn't go any lower. Was quoted a great price for duct cleaning. When the crew showed up for the service, the price went from $150 to $1,500. I called customer service, and was yelled at on the phone. In the background, I could hear another customer service rep swearing at a customer she was talking to. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. HORRIBLE.
