We sailed as a party of six with my parents and my two little girls (ages 5 and 3). About halfway through, the weather turned and it started pouring, forcing us to head back to port early. We completely understood and didn't expect any kind of "make up" time since the rain wasn't their fault. To our surprise, Sail Venice went above and beyond. Even though we had less than an hour left when we came in, they offered to take us out again at a different time. We hoped for a sunset sail, but the forecast looked like more rain, so we figured it wouldn't happen. Then, last minute, they called us after watching the skies clear and asked if we wanted to come back out. Twenty minutes later we were on the water again, and it turned into an absolutely lovely evening. My daughters adored their very first sailboat ride, and we could not have asked for a more thoughtful, accommodating, and caring crew. Sail Venice truly made our trip unforgettable. Stayed here three days for work. The hotel is clean. The room is spacious, including the bathroom…read more Bed is super comfortable. Lots of pillows but I brought my own. Lots of reading lights and plug ins for chargers. Temperature of the room fluctuates a lot- sometimes too hot and sometimes too cold. There's a thermostat but it seems I'm not really in control of it? Bathroom has separate tub and shower stall. Large counter for toiletries. The towels are super plush! Not 100% cotton but they're soft and not overwashed. Very nice. The shower needs more water pressure. Also could be a little hotter. There is a small mini fridge but I found that it does not get very cold at all. It doesn't even have a top freezer. So I'd recommend bringing a cooler. There's an ice machine down the hall which I've been using to keep my food/snacks/drinks cold, in a yeti cooler. There is a one cup keurig and they have Folgers and decaf as well as tea. I didn't use it. They don't provide bottled water for it, so bring your own or use the sink. I used the microwave; I was glad to have that. I enjoyed sitting on the couch and enjoying the view outside. The curtains are total blackout and they cover the windows completely. I love that! They also have sheer curtains to allow the sunlight but maintain privacy. THERE IS NO POOL. THERE IS NO GYM. DISREGARD PHOTOS OF THE POOL AND GYM- THEY NO LONGER EXIST. The pool area has been turned into a rooftop bar. Service up there is great. Views are nice, drinks are good. They have a decent menu- it's called perch 360. There was a one man band up there with a keyboard and saxophone. I was entertained. The lobby restaurant I did not visit but there were people having happy hour or early dinner every time I came back around 5:30-630 so it must be popular. It's called 88 keys and I heard a piano playing in there this evening. Parking out back is plentiful and free. The side lot is for the marina and you will get towed at night. It has signs that say no overnight parking. So don't make that mistake. Dedicated smoking area behind the hotel. Entrance from the parking lot in the back with keycard. They have those wheeled carts for your luggage. Elevators are key card only so this place feels safe. Anyone can go up to the rooftop bar without a key though. Desk attendants aren't that friendly- no one greets you when you come and go. They have some flyers by the elevators for local maps and tourism info. They say it's a four star hotel- yet they don't offer very much- no included happy hour or welcome beverage in the lobby, no coffee/tea in the lobby. No turn down service. No bottled water. So- really no benefit to being here v across the street. I did not see any laundry facility here. The best part about the hotel is the location. You can walk to Marion street to enjoy many good restaurants or the other direction to the tiki bar. So I would stay here again because it's nice. But I'd like to have a hotel gym or pool and better service in the lobby. Update : water and coffee available in the lobby but it's kind of later in the morning.

I highly recommend Seas the Day Charters and Captain John Gerhardt! My family and I recently had a sunset and dolphin cruise with Captain John and we had an amazing time!!! We truly could not have asked for more! John has lived in Sarasota since he was 8 years old, and is very knowledgeable about the area and a very skilled captain. He ensured that we went to the best places to increase the likelihood of seeing dolphins and manatees and it worked!! We were able to see both - we lost count of how many dolphins we saw and we were almost close enough to touch the manatees. Captain John went above and beyond from start to finish and was very personable and accommodating throughout our adventure. The boat is beautiful and very clean. Captain John took many photos throughout our cruise and captured so many special moments. I honestly can't say enough about how wonderful the entire experience was! read more

I cannot say enough great things about Captain John and his beautiful manta boat. Our family went out for three hours with John last week and had the best time of our entire trip. He was a perfect match for my kiddos. Very considerate and helped them to see the magic of the ocean and animals. We saw dolphins and, while swimming, a manatee came to swim with us. We found a great collection of teeth and shells while snorkeling, too! Because we had a total of 8 in our group and the boat can only accommodate 6, John went out of his way to find another captain to take out the other family we were travelling with. He gave us a great deal and did all the negotiating with the other captain. Without his guidance, initiative, and persistence, we wouldn't have gotten to have this grade A experience! Captain John is amazing!!! His energy is contagious. He is such a genuine person and it's very evident that he loves the water and everything it has to offer. We have had three different excursions with Captain John and they have all been TOP NOTCH!! All three excursions were above and beyond our expectations. He knows all the best places for dolphin sightings which was was such a treat for the kids AND the adults! To top it off, he takes the best pictures to make sure you have the memories captured. My 3rd Sunset Cruise with Captain John, each one better than the last! 6 of us (5 of us with birthdays in May) boarded the Manta for a fun-filled 3 & 1/2 hour Cruise! He regaled us with stories of his life & Historical facts about Venice, its Islands, & the abundant wildlife in the area. A bonus is the inclusion of his little dog Zoey, who races from one end of the boat to the other & jumps in the water to swim with the Dolphins! From start to finish this is the BEST charter out there! Iv gone on two trips and both times were perfect! They helped me surprise my father for his 60th Birthday! They made a Birthday play list, we took food and drinks, and saw the most beautiful sunset! Captain Carlos took us out to a sandbar which was not as effected by the Red Tide and we spent some time in the ocean before getting back on the boat. We had told Carlos that we were really hoping to encounter some dolphins on our trip and he was very knowledgeable about where the Dolphins like to hang out. We found a couple of dolphins hanging out in a small cove he recommended and it was an incredible experience as the dolphins followed the yacht for around 15 minutes and jumped and played in the boats wake.
