My wife and I each found a rare pathological shark tooth! Chris, the owner, was an amazing guide and made sure that everyone was on good material. He gives a very informative talk before the fossil hunt, demonstrates how to use the equipment once you reach the river, constantly checks to see how you are doing and answer questions, then helps everyone identify their fossils after the hunt. What a beautiful day we had out on the Peace River looking for sharks teeth and fossils! Patrick…read morewas patient, very thorough, and took meticulous attention to safety conditions, but maximum yield on our findings! The perfect combo for locating the good stuff. Patrick took the extra time to really make it fun for our two 7-year old boys also, which made the day even more rewarding watching the excitement and wonder in the kids. But honestly the excitement and wonder was not lost on any of us adults either. We found SO many awesome teeth! One of our crew lost his carrying box with all his fossils and Patrick spent the last part of our trip swimming the river trying to find it for him. We didn't find it, but Patrick gave him all of his fossils he spent all day finding. It wasn't a drop in the bucket either, I'm talking pieces I've never held in my hand before. (Mark also offers kayak-in trips as well) In my 11 year old's words, it was "the highlight of his vacation". Mark is an amazing tour guide, a wealth of knowledge, and an amazing personality. We had so much fun on this tour. We met up at a predetermined location in Arcadia, along with two other families, where Mark showed us a few examples of the types of fossils we would be finding and should be looking for. He was very specific that while there was a possibility of finding giant megladon teeth and other awesome finds, they would likely not be what we found that day. After the orientation, we drove about 15 minutes to our dig site. Mark provides the shovels and screens for our fossil digs. We spent 3-4 hours in a shallow river (3-4 ft deep) digging and screening for fossils. The kids' attention was kept for at least two hours before they started chasing minnows and playing in the river. Mark had the families in different areas of the river, and took turns with each group throughout the day to help identify our finds, and to give pointers on where to dig. In the end, we walked away with a few handfuls of fossils, most notably a prehistoric giant armadillo plate, and 4 small shark teeth. Mark is very knowledgeable, and gave us all quite an educational, yet fun experience. We enjoyed chatting with Mark, and learning about his adventures and finds. If you're even considering this trip, do it, I can't recommend it enough. A few tips: - bring a hearty lunch in a cooler, you'll be hungry when you break for lunch. Also bring cold drinks. - wear water shoes, or socks and an old pair of tennis shoes. There's lots of sand and gravel in the river, and they get stuck in sandal type shoes. -don't forget sunscreen! -bring a tube of hand sanitizer for mealtime -bring a change of clothes, you WILL get wet. I wore a swimsuit and shirt. -if you're interested in purchasing on of Mark's books, bring some extra money ($20 each) -don't be shy, ask questions

Our family had a great time at the Venice Shark Tooth Festival!…read more We found this event last minute on Sunday and decided to drive out to the Shark tooth Capital to see what it would be like. It was very busy and a little tough to find parking but once we did we couldn't believe our eyes seeing so many shark teeth! Big and small from all types of sharks and there were some beautiful wall art made with shark teeth some dipped in resin with beautiful colors it was amazing to see how celebrated these teeth were. The live music was great people were dancing having a good time. I didn't see very many food vendors maybe because venices strip has restaurants up and down but they definitely had drinks non alcoholic and alcohol. I got myself a really cool branded coconut from surfing coconut that they crack open and you can drink fresh coconut water that was cold and refreshing. And the Kids Zone was great my kids got to find their own shark teeth offered by the Venice Lions Club which they got two minutes to find as many shark as they could and when they were done they had about 10/20 shark teeth each! This was a great festival filled with very talented vendors and amazing fossils and Shark teeth I will definitely be attending next year's event!

Staffed by very experienced knowledgeable and helpful people it offers equipment sales, service, rentals and dive trips. I had a great time with them diving and strongly recommend them. It's an especially rare treat to have no rushing going on. As most dives are shallow, 90 min a tank is normal for most divers and their two tank trip gives you 2 x 90 min on the shallow stuff. Where else can you get that? Virtually all dive boats rush divers into less than 45 minutes. I rented gear for shore dives, did a dive boat trip and bought some minor gear. Loved it and will be back.
