Now I showed up at the end of the month (poor planning)...i got there 10 minutes before they opened and there was already a queue of about 30 folks. I waited about 45 minutes before my number was called. I showed up to get my first OR license, having been a Washingtonian these last 62 years....I brought the recommended paperwork with me (mail with my name and new address) and my WA DL. Now the DMV website tells you that you have to take the written test, so I had even studied up, and was crestfallen when I was told that they'd rescinded this requirement, perhaps temporarily. Passed the vision test, approved the use of my sorry organs in case i get whacked, and got my pic taken and paid the fee. Great. Bonus was that my WA motorcycle endorsement transferred with no question or fuss. Oh, and they are VERY quick to point out that if you have a valid US Passport, you dont have to fiddle with the new improved ID. Good job DMV. But next time maybe I'll avoid end of month :)

I also don't understand shutting down the entire office for 1.5 hours in the middle of a work day (from 12:30 to 2 p.m.). It's a little ridiculous. How many other places do this? Can you not cycle employee breaks like everywhere else? There's a lot of things about this place that I don't understand, and the tedious waiting in the lobby amplifies those concerns. An hour and a half after I pulled my number 85, I was helped by a gentleman with what I can only describe as having a "really cool and unique" hairstyle. He was friendly... provided no obstacles for me and was efficient in processing my needs. His demeanor and efficiency helped adjust my own disposition, which was souring with frustration as I sat there. Overall, my time spent in this office was not fun but not completely awful. This place could be managed much better - having employees rotate breaks to not close down completely would be a good start. Staffing more employees would also help. The employee with the cool hair that I dealt with salvaged my experience here for me, and eventually, I left with what I needed. Won't be back anytime soon, hopefully... and I also hope management reads my concerns and addresses them. I'm sure many others who deal with this place feel the same as I do. If you have to take a test, be there before 3:30 in order to ensure you get to take the test. if you're retaking the test go there a little before 4 and they'll let you cut in line. if you're going to do any other things other then driving test, go there right after 4 and the wait is a matter of minutes.

Unfortunately I was number 450 and they were at 396 so I was waiting over two hours to get called. Last year I helped work to Oregon getting a pollinators plate for the state which provides funds to the pollinators educational program at OHSU. I had my certificate to get my new plate (which is beautifully designed by a 16 year old Estacada student). When my number was called it was then fast and easy to get my new plates. The folks that work at this location all seem very friendly and knowledgeable. Ad it was there was a guy sitting fairly close to me. I got the impression he has sat down due to fatigue. One of the staff came over to update him. When the person trying to help was letting him know his wait time he kept interrupting her and barking at her. I was trying not to overhear but she was so kind even with his nature. I was impressed and relieved when he finally seemed to listen to her telling him she was sorry for the delay in whatever and that they were trying to get to his issue. I get it - people go in pissed off from the start so I definitely appreciate the kindness while they are trying to do their job and navigate very hostile people.

It's been several years since I've had to make a trip to the Oregon DMV and I just had my best…read moreexperience ever at the Hillsboro branch They were out of appointments so I had to go in as a walk in and the place was packed when I got here on Thursday at 3pm But, to my pleasant surprise, the host asked me if I wanted to get text updates about my wait. What a great service! So I gave her my phone number and was able to wait outside in the comfort of my own car and enjoy reading my book. Their system sent me a few updates as my spot in line approached. They also provided a link to web page where I could view my wait status. That was nice since I didn't have to worry about losing my place in line while I waited outside I ended up waiting just 20 minutes (they served 11 folks in that time) and got my job done in two minutes. So I had a great experience here and especially appreciate the hard work DMV has done to serve us and minimize the pain of going to the DMV office. Kudos! :)

I had an appointment and was on time, got a super friendly and helpful representative, who guided me to leave and go to DEQ, then come back on a priority ticket, and man alive I'm glad I did. She even directed me the right thing to do on an issue for my mom. Truly great experience. Again. I really like this DMV and I'm so thankful I got everything sorted in ONE trip!!

Quick | Friendly…read more It's been 7 years since I've been here, but they've made changes to their system, and I feel like it's made things more efficient. I had to renew my DL and get the real ID, so I had to come in. I tried making an appointment online, but the next available appointment was at a further location in over a month. It would be cutting it too close with my expiration date. I tried my luck this morning as a walk-in. I came in at 10:15am on a Thursday. At first, I was discouraged a little when I took my number and my estimated wait time was 1hr - 1hr 25 min. Within 5 minutes of waiting, I saw my wait time grow to 2hrs. Luckily, we don't have to sit and wait there, so I ran one errand. Perfect timing because the wait was a lot less than originally estimated! I was helped within an hour by a super friendly lady named Anahi (sp?). It was nice chatting with her while she quickly took care of my renewal and application. I waited maybe another 5 minutes to get my photo taken and then was done! One thing that's new (for me) was being updated with the wait via QR code. It's SO nice not having to wait the whole day there not knowing when you'll be helped. I've been to other DMVs that aren't that great and this location is my favorite.

He didn't act like he hated his job. So friendly, helpful and nice and he sang Christmas tunes a lot. It was super refreshing to see someone not acting miserable doing there job and being fabulous. If only more people could be like you! Thanks for being so awesome. If everyone could be like you, it proves you can enjoy your job because there is no reason to be angry and nasty when you are getting paid to be there! I'm sure it helped I did my research and we were prepared, I will thank my TBI for teaching me to double check multiple times and be completely prepared to make the transaction as seamless as it can be!
