We have traveled the Oregon trail several times and see the end of it at this location is pretty special. Half starr location great. Hotel heavelyworen. Manager is A cheat & lier. Could not keep elevators operating. My wife is handicapped, not able to continue using stairs, manager said he would return un used days. He did not! Tried calling, tried going thru bring Fido who went thru Experion,Emails many attempts,manager refused to ansewer. So we lost $ 900 because manager lied to us. I've been coming to Seaside for the entirety of my 40+ years on this Earth, and it feels like nothing has changed the entire time. Now, I know that's not true. Some businesses in town have come and gone. Others have had a facelift. But the promenade walk, and the beach itself, is unchanged. Still, all the old favorites are here: the Carousel Mall; the Funland arcade; Clam chowder at Mo's; eating a corn dog from the Pronto Pup, then losing your lunch on the bumper cars or the Tilt-a-Whirl ("Tilt-a-Hurl!"); the statue of Lewis and Clark at the roundabout; the dingy restrooms under the promenade, with the showers outside for washing sand off your feet. All of these, and more, have been here the whole time. There's something comforting in the nostalgia that comes with returning to a place from one's childhood, and finding it to be exactly as remembered. I guess that's why I keep coming back, year after year, even though there are better beaches in the PNW and, of course, elsewhere in the world. Warmer ones, for sure, anyway! Still, the familiar, looming silhouette of Tillamook Head, the seemingly limitless stretch of white sand in either direction, a brisk wind whipping sand in your face, and the endlessness of the deep blue stretching out ahead of you...yeah, there is something magical about this place. Nice place for a walk, jog, or taking the dog out for playtime. The Promenade is 1.5 miles long, which makes for a great 3 miles roundtrip run. I like that it's a very long promenade with access to the Seaside beach, restaurants at the center, and great view of the clear blue sky, green hills, and blue ocean. Keep in mind there are residential beach homes adjacent to the Promenade so don't be too boisterous or litter. I wouldn't mind renting one of the beach homes as a weekend staycation since the location is opportune. read more

Had a blast here in Seaside I enjoyed most the shops on the promenade a few were closed on a Monday which I know would be the case my only issue is HONESTLY shop owners need to keep there political BS out of their shop unless you only want business from your political party. I just feel it has nothing to do with the ocean and Seaside I want shirts that say I love Seaside not go Brandon or fck trump not worth my time of money. Anyways so many cute shops I cant wait to come back and check out the ones that were closed. THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING BIRTHDAY! We parked at the far end where there was ample street parking. I didn't see any signs that said any time limits to the parking or anything and we had no issues. It was a lovely little walk down about a mile to the shops, beach entrances and activities. Along the way you pass beach-style vacation homes to the right and to the left reveals numerous pathways cutting through the seagrass leading to the ocean. The paved path is flat and is dotted with quaint lamps and benches. You know you've made it to the touristy area when you hit the roundabout that's guarded by the y'all statue of Lewis and Clark. Cars do drive on the roundabout so be careful and aware when you're taking photos. Once you get to Lewis and Clark, you can turn left and play on the beach or turn right and meander through endless stores, restaurants, taffy shops and arcades. It was lively and fun and was nice to get away from all the chaos that has become the "real world" in 2020. read more

I've been thinking a lot about running today, and one of the last great days of running I had was on the promenade in Seaside. It's a delightful little find right outside of my hotel, and I enjoyed strolling on it by day and by night, and jogging through the early mornings. I don't love running on the beach. I do like long walks on the beach. But running is a pain in the sand. So the fact that there's a long strip of cement ready for running, is certainly exciting for me. I ran, I breathed, I ran some more. The lights, the trees, the direct link by foot to the main drag of town, out to the end of the promenade; you should probably experience it at least once while you're in town in Seaside. read more

Walking the "Prom" is one of the Oregon Coast rites of passage. During the summer months it can feel like an absolute zoo. During the off season, it is a peaceful place to enjoy the wide open view. Seaside is not my favorite coastal town, but the Prom is Seaside at its best. The focal point is the turnaround at the end of Broadway Street with the Lewis & Clark Statue as the centerpiece. There are restrooms below, but minimal facilities the rest of the way. The promenade runs parallel to the ocean north and south of this point and it is a smooth paved trail for 1-1/2 miles. There are a mix of hotels and private residences on one side and some low sand dunes with sea grass leading to the water. The prettiest views are looking south towards Tillamook Head and and Ecola State Park. read more

The beach is wide and beautiful and there is a long promenade to walk alongside the beach if you don't want to walk on the sand. Easy to reach off the coastal highway. Maybe this one is a little to close to Portland for us. Driving up the coast and visiting many of the little coastal towns, sadly Seaside was our least favorite. The hotels look run down, streets were dirty (lots of trash) and many cheap touristy stores. Sidewalks were crowded with large groups of noisy people, some of whom appeared to be intoxicated in the early afternoon on a Saturday. I wouldn't have felt altogether comfortable bringing my family into the town, although there is plenty of room to spread out on the beach. The setting is very beautiful, but we prefer some of the towns that are more "off the beaten path" and better maintained. read more

It's gorgeous y'all! Was a beautiful day high of 55*F. Seemed chilly when we first arrived, but after walking we warmed up quickly. The town was very cute, and familiar to what they have near the Gulf of Mexico. It's much smaller and you can park a distance yet still be close to the beach and ocean. We stopped at a few stores, and of course landed in a candy shop for the kids. Walked our way down to the beach afterwards. The sand was so clean, light in color, and doesn't have a fishy or funky smell like how we have back in the south. We made it all the way down to the water, but high tide was rolling in. Found a lot of dead/broken Dungeness crab shell all along the beach. So careful if your going to walk barefooted. Was bummed the water spouts they had had no running water to clean off sand from our feet. Luckily I was carrying a 1 liter water bottle. I'm shocked to not see more reviews on Seaside. read more

This is about a 1 1/2 mile stretch of smooth concrete walkway that runs along Seaside Beach. It's perfect for walking, biking, jogging, people-watching, etc. It's wide enough so you won't be elbow-to-elbow with people around you. You have the South end that's mainly a residential area with a few beach homes available for that weekend rental. It's where you'll primarily see grass covered dunes. Then you have the turn-around almost center with the statue of Lewis & Clark and of course their dog too. The North end has more hotels, businesses, and resorts with more of a direct route to the beach. It's also where you can find the Aquarium at. You can also take in the spectacular view of Tillamook Head and the gorgeous sunset in the evening. The Promenade or Prom for short is quite well-lit and clean. We've taken walks at midnight on the Prom and it's so peaceful hearing the ocean as you stroll. There are quite a few benches every so often so you can relax and just take in your surroundings. I love it here especially when it's beautiful out. read more

First visited Seaside in the late 90's during the summer, when it was alive and kicking. Cut to now, Winter, cold, and sort of dead. Not a big deal. Still got to go on the promenade and take in the view. A ton of the businesses appeared closed, so we didn't spend much time here. Still, a good number of people on the cold beach. This stretch of cement along the beach was very fun to walk along! It is beautiful as well as relaxing. Basically you have the seaside beach to one side, and some beach homes and hotels on the other side. It was fun looking at the different styles of beach houses! We didn't end up making it to the end, as it was a hot day and knew we would have to walk all the way back (where the car was parked), but definitely worth a stroll if you have nothing better to do read more

This beach has so much to offer but, the humans has ruined it. The amount of garbage on the beach was unbelievable. Dirty diaper, chairs, clothes, water bottles, beer/soda cans, entire kid beach toy sets, perfume bottles.....well you get the point. The nice part of the beach is if you are ok with the garbage on the beach the water is shallow to wade in and the sand is soft. Wear your shoes to prevent hurting your feet. read more

Seaside is affectionately know as the Fort Lauderdale of Oregon. The spring break destination of choice for us web-footed Oregonians. When you enter the turnaround be careful of people walking out to the Lewis and Clark statue to get pictures taken. I have almost hit the photographer a few times. If you want a really cool picture have your people stick their heads thru the rail openings and you get down on the beach and shoot upwards to get their heads sticking out of the seawall. From the turnaround you can walk either way down the boardwalk. There is a seal aquarium that is pretty cheesy but entertaining as you feed the beggars. The seals are pretty people trained. If you can get a bench, just sit and people watch, you won't be disappointed. read more

Ron called about 2 pm yesterday . I was downtown running errands and getting ready to stop at Starbucks and get an iced tea. He was feeling restless on this beautiful Saturday and wanted to drive to Astoria and Seaside and see where the day took us. I drank my iced tea and waited, and then we were off. We drove to Astoria via the St. Helen/Rainier route along the Columbia River. The scenery was magnificent. When we reached Astoria, there were eight ships in the river, yet ten more could have fit in. One forgets how large that river is. We arrived in Seaside. He didn't know where to start, but I did. In childhood my family vacationed for two weeks there every summer. It was THE LAW that you had to drive around The Turnaround and make sure the ocean was still there before anything else. Ron started to say something about the traffic, but there was no winning this "battle." As we drove up Broadway, I exclaimed at every turn about everything that was still the same and Ron listened to all my stories, and I let myself be thrilled by the first peek at the Pacific Ocean and also by "The End of The Trail" Statue of Lewis and Clark, one of my favorite historical journeys. Now very happy, we drove back to Bell Buoy and had fresh shrimp cocktails. Ron is the best of sports and indulges my whims, and this whim of driving around The Turnaround was an instrumental part of a golden day. We were able to let go of the work week and just laugh and talk and enjoy. We've made plans for another weekend trip to spend time doing some more exploring, but you know where we will start. read more

From the main roundabout (a major Seaside tourist & local draw) you can head South along the prom. Stop by the beachfront swings & drag your toes in the sand. Keep going past some incredible homes that flank the prom & take not of the numerous off prom trails that lead you directly to beach access From the main round about head north & check out the Seaside aquarium, hotel fronts, restaurants & more. This was my first visit to Seaside Oregon. It's a stereo typical costal town with lots of summer traffic. The promenade has stores and restaurants for blocks. The stores are primary candy stores or stores that sell t shirts. Seriously, they have an overload of the same stores for blocks. If you are in need of diabetes or a shirt, this is your place. read more

This is a nice and level walking path with a constant view of the beach. We catch it not too far from our home and walk the length for a great workout. It is a great way to get fresh air, exercise, meet your neighbours, assist friendly tourists, damn the annoying ones, and be able to walk the beach sans that pesky sand. Bikes and boards are normally pretty safe and respectful. Pokeman Go players can be another story. Pop on some rain gear and walk in a storm that we are known for. This is the perfect beach walk for those of us who can't walk much or handle inclines (such as me with my pregnant waddle or a recent guest of ours who uses a cane). Is it as pretty as other Oregon beaches? No. Is it as private? No. But there is a secret swing set, if you walk far enough north from the main entrance. And the beach itself (not accessible to wheelchairs) is surprisingly lovely, if you can ignore the bro-infested track teams running by. read more

The Prom is a nice raised walkway along the beach, great views, seating, the aquarium (ok that isn't so great). Its great for people watching, others on the Prom, on the beach. Its also great for just a stroll, sometimes I dont want to get sandy or am with someone that has trouble walking on the sand. We stayed at Unit 403 at The Promenade on September 7-11, 2014 and had a wonderful time as the unit was well furnished and clean with fresh linens and an ample supply of towels. Everything function as advertised and we even did a couple loads of wash. Recommend this unit and the The Promenade to anyone wanting a comfortable and pleasant stay at Seaside Oregon. read more
