In fact, he wanted $4 more for the 2 lottery tickets. I asked him for my change and actually said. " I literally just changed the price of Ketel to $40". I told him that this bottle as well as the 12 others on the shelf have 33.99 on them and he better get his boss real quick. He goes in a room and says he will sell for 33.99. Really? Since this is a friday zfternoon this place must TOTALLY JACK UP PRICES for weekends. STAY AWAY!! Make them learn.

They're very well stocked with the usual assortment of well- and medium-range spirits, from vodkas and gins to tequilas and whiskies. But where Portside really shines is their expansive wine collection, which my stepfather assures me is of high quality. At least one very knowledgeable staff-person rounds out this collection and makes Portside probably the go-to liquor store for this portion of the Cape if you're picking up wine. They also have a full-wall humidor with a decent collection of cigars.

This long time business in the area is under new ownership, so if you travel from other areas on…read morethe Cape to shop in a "warehouse" setting, or you visit for the summer.....just realize that the helpful long time staff that used to be there are gone, the selection of wines is really confusing now (because they aren't "grouped" the way they used to be), and beer selection is reduced. Dont bother asking for help looking for a particular item. I did and got a blank stare. I tried to find it myself but gave up. The woman at the register was slow and seemed to have trouble counting change (she miscounted twice (the bills)). I asked her also about the wine I was looking for and she shook her head, not speaking either. FYI, this was a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, not some speciality French or Italian wine! FYI, the prices have increased as well. Plenty of other businesses to support...one right on Main Street, smaller store, yes but with great stock and helpful! So sorry to see this change. I'm not patronizing anymore and from what I've seen in the parking lot driving by, others are feeling the same way. This is one of those places whose ego has gone straight to their head. My experience here was one that will keep me from ever returning. My friends came by this place to pick up a few beers, while one of us stayed behind in the car. At the register, one of the female workers was standing there with her hands on her hips. "If you're going to buy liquor from my store, I better see the ID of your little friend there", gesturing to the car. Ok, no big deal right? We understand the rules, we've been to a liquor store before and understand they get stung all the time. My friend explained that the friend in the car recently had her car broken into, and currently had only a paper license. He offered to go get it, but instead the owner's attitude became sour. "If you're going to give me an attitude, there's another liquor store just a mile down the road." At that point, our jaws kind of dropped, and the did-i-say-something-wrong feeling spread. My friend just left the store, presumably to get our friend from the car, so the rest of us waited behind for him. But instead, she turned to us, gave us the most skull-scorching look, and said "And since your friend gave me an attitude and decided to slam the door (PS: the door is one of those automated doors with the hinge on top that.. can't...be...slammed), I choose not to serve you." So we just put down our beer and left in silence. I really have no idea what was up her arse, but it certainly was poor service and overreaction.
