Omg!!! Where do I begin?! I put four bottles of wine down on the counter. I knew the sale was two for 25. I knew my total would probably be 50+ tax. She looked at me said nothing. I had to ask her how much I owed her she said $50. I had to bag my own wine. It took a lot of effort, to give me the separators for the bottles Lol. I walked out. I will never be giving this store my business. The old woman at the cashier made an inappropriate remark to my daughter and I which made both of us uncomfortable to say the least. Not to mention her facial expression and non verbal noise she made to express her own hateful remark. That day was a life lesson for my daughter that some people are not nice people and it's better to let it go than to waste your precious time to argue with ignorance. It was a horrible experience. I'm in line to buy my wine. The person in front of me had long since paid but the cashier continued talking to her out loud about where she was from. It seemed like it was okay and public enough for me to jump in and ask a friendly question about the topic. Bad idea! The cashier looked at me and told me she was having a "private" conversation and that I was rude to get involved. I said "that's not very nice" and she told me I could leave if I wanted to. So I did. Bourne Bridge Liquor Store - a triangle shaped building - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts

I've been coming here consistently no less than six times a year for the last two, and my boyfriend has been coming here longer than that. We have always been met with helpful and courteous staff, and never had an issue with rudeness or being yelled at. Perhaps folks from out of town need to remember that their own behavior and conduct in an establishment will determine how s/he is treated by employees. There is a vast selection and the prices are very reasonable, especially as it gets ridiculously expensive as you go further down the cape. We will continue to come here, and for those of you who read these reviews, remember that folks post for various reasons, often when emotionally charged-- in my case, I'm writing this positive review because it is reflective of my 12+ experiences at this establishment over the last two years. read more

This is the most freaking dumbest fucking liquor store ever. The lady wanted everyone including my kids out the fucking car and see an ID. What the fuck do you mean? My sister husband is sitting in the car with the kids, and she wanted him and the kids out the car? Um no. We just wanted to grab a bottle, but she kicked us out the store because a friend wanted to smoke a cigarette and he showed his ID, but she got mad because he didnt want to go inside. The woman who owns this store is unpleasant, condescending, and insulting. She treated me like some sort of tweaker shoplifter, maybe because I stopped in after an unexpected 36-hour shift (think essential worker, we do get naps) and then I made the mistake of trying to get a recommendation about which bottle of booze to bring to a dinner party (I had to eat anyway before crashing out). Instead of being helpful like a normal, professional liquor store worker, this woman was dismissive and patronizing, barely able to bring herself to give me advice. In fact, I turned to google for guidance instead. Not only that, but I got the impression that she took some sort of perverse enjoyment from treating me so terribly, rolling her eyes, providing useless half-answers, and trying to embarrass me in front of one of her regulars by making thinly veiled comments about me to him (the old hint, hint, nudge, nudge). If she had a shred of empathy or kindness and was concerned that I was acting weird, she could have asked why I seemed so frazzled and then I could have explained that I had a horror-filled shift - but instead she treated me like a pariah, I guess assuming my fatigue and anxiety meant I was on drugs, or something. If this woman wasn't the owner, no sensible business proprietor would employ her, because nobody else would tolerate such disagreeable, bad-tempered behavior towards their customers. It appears there are customers she simply doesn't like, for whatever narrow-minded, illogical reasons, and that she freely lashes out at these unsuspecting, "unacceptable" people. I should have left without buying anything but I was late for the dinner, hungry, tired, and this is the only liquor store along the way. The kicker is that I actually went back to this store several months later, having spaced out about my previous experience until I got up to the cash register and saw the owner's face. She must have recognized me too, but this time I was not stressed out after a horrific work shift during which I had witnessed traumatic deaths. Again, I should have walked out but I was heading to the same friends' house for dinner, they cook, I bring the drinks, and it is the closest liquor store. It wasn't until I arrived at my friends' house that I realized she had deliberately "misunderstood" me and sold me two bottles of the wrong item even though I had clearly requested a different item. Technically, that's fraud! Anyway, at dinner I started to tell my friends about the crazy behavior of the woman cashier at Bourne Bridge Liquors (and that's when they told me she was actually the owner). To my surprise, my friends had several stories of their own about how the owner had been quite nasty to them as well, derisive and barely civil, totally unprovoked. These friends (a couple) are salt of the earth people - everybody likes them - they are generous, considerate, responsible, with four amazing, successful kids, but (they think) that the liquor store owner treated my (girl) friend like an idiot and my (boy) friend like a slimy predator, possibly because they did not meet the owner's "standards." My (girl) friend is blessed by youthful genes and looks rather young, so they guess that the owner made certain assumptions about their relationship. They ended up shopping at Bourne Bridge Liquors 2-3 times, each time given malice and hassles instead of customer service, and thus haven't returned since, even though, once again, it's the closest liquor store to their house. I usually don't call out people in this way, but the owner of Bourne Bridge Liquors is so vile, so hateful, that I have to speak out. I want to warn everybody about how biased, hostile, and mean this woman is, and how it suggests that she acts this way, at least partly, as a way to entertain herself. She seems to enjoy degrading and insulting people; maybe it helps her feel better about herself? But especially during these crazy, uncertain times, the world really needs more love and compassion, NOT more hostility and scorn. I'm sure Bourne Bridge Liquors has their regular customers and that a lot of tourists stop there, since it's right on the way to the Cape, but anybody in the know will avoid this store like the plague, because who would want to deliberately support and spend money at such a negative, disrespectful business? I will never shop there again and neither will my two friends; wish I could give it ZERO stars. The owner of Bourne Bridge Liquors definitely gets ZERO stars but I do hope she can get some kind of help, or at least find a less malevolent hobby. DO NOT SHOP AT BOURNE BRIDGE LIQUORS. read more

Horrible selection of liqour. i wanted 5 things and the didn't have one of them. WHAT KINDA OF LQ STORE DOESNT HAVE A 40 OZ???

As a person who lives in the area there are plenty of other options. I have made purchases here about 4 or 5 time. each time I'm reminded why you should not go here. each time I have dealt with an older dark haired woman who smells like an ashtray and so unneccessarilly rude & aggressive she probably seek help. If I employed this person I would be aware she costs your business business. Nasty. Grim. On average I spend over a hundred at a time. Often gifts. This last time was my last. She shouted "a**hole!" as I walked out the door. (?!) I said nothing in response. The closest you can find to this experience would be if you have ever been accosted by someone homeless. We knew what we wanted so it was a short visit, handy location right there at the rotary. We were pleased with the service, selection and prices. I wish I got the gentlemans name that helped us out. Overpriced, dirty, hot as hell (maybe there's a reason for that), rude employee (the one who smokes cigarettes outside in her Jeep), unorganized, and set at an extremely dangerous part of a busy road/intersection. The importance of store location, it's interior organization/atmosphere, and employee manners greatly determines where I spend my hard-earned money. This store will never have me as a repeat customer. Nope, hell just isn't for me. Also, the guy working inside the store told my friend that her dog could come in. Then as I brought the dog outside to wait so my friend could shop (and spend money!), a woman sitting in a Jeep parked outside, smoking a cigarette, yelled over to me "no dogs allowed in the store!" Not a more respectful, "please don't bring you dog inside the store." Miss, you couldn't have been more rude. If you work at or manage this store, your style leaves a lot to be desired. If your store doesn't allow dogs, then PUT A SIGN OUTSIDE THAT STATES THAT! (And yes, I looked up and down and over and under, but found no such sign.) Also, get it straight with the other employees regarding whether dogs are allowed inside. One said yes, one yelled no. As I said earlier, my money goes and has gone elsewhere. read more

I'm not a fan. The selection was pretty good, but I thought the staff was rude. I go up to the counter to pay for a 12-pack of Corona & a lime. I set the beer down on the counter while the cashier is cashing out another customer. There is a police officer to my right. While I wait I get out my credit card & my license because A. I have "see ID" written on my credit card, and B. I'm 27 and expect to still get carded. When it's my turn to pay one of the ladies behind the counter snatches up my license- no "hello, how are you today?". She looks at the license, looks at me, this continues for a good 30 seconds or so before she passes it to the other lady behind the counter, who does the same thing for another 30 seconds or so. Then they have a conversation about whether or not the picture on the license is me or not. Now, in their defense I had my hair down in the picture, and on this day it was up, but never has my license been scrutinized in this way, and since my picture was taken less than 6 months ago I know for sure that I don't look so different that any reasonable human being couldn't figure out that my face and the picture do indeed match! Not to mention, what underage fool would try to buy a case of beer in front of a cop?! I even offered to show them other forms of ID. I honestly thought they were going to send me away empty-handed, and by the time they finally decided they WOULD sell to me I almost wanted to say the hell with them and take my business elsewhere (I'll show them! :), but alas, I was in a bit of a hurry and so I paid and left. I'm never going back, and if you look as though you are under 40 I don't suggest you go there either unless you feel like having a pain in your ass while you checkout. read more

Unreal, this place. First the selection is terrible. They sell Napa Valley wines that should be 20 dollars max, for 35 or 40. The staff doesn't have any idea about their products. And now to the id story. I pulled up in the parking lot. I had my fiance's 16 year old little sister with me in the car. I walked in alone and the clerk eyed me like a hawk. He watched me as I spent ten minutes selecting a wine from their garbage can of a wine rack. I walked up to pay. He said "Nice selection of wine." Which surprised me because he looked like he preferred Pabst Blue Ribbon to Cabernet Sauvignon. Then he said with a smile, "Now I'm gonna need to see an id from the person in your car." Hey, I respect the law and his concern for job security but don't you think he might have mentioned that before I wasted ten minutes of my life. Not to mention his feeble attempt to be an authority figure. I'd probably be bitter too though, if I had to work behind that counter for 8 dollars an hour wearing a shirt from the salvation army so i could go back to my basement apartment and heat up a can of store brand soup. read more

I stumbled along this site while checking reviews of other liquor stores in the area on Cape. I've been to this store plenty of times, and I've never had a problem with the staff. I've seen two complaints that are concerning people being upset about getting their ID checked. What these people fail to comprehend is that people who run or own liquor stores (like myself) will not risk their lively hoods because they don't want to "trouble" people by asking for their IDs. So to you two, grow up. Of course someone wants to see the ID of a 16 year old in your car, regardless of WHO she is. It's their job on the line. As for the insults towards the cashier? Really childish kiddo. Any who, the building itself is beautiful, and the staff are as helpful as staff can be. (Trust me I know from my own :) ). I'm also reviewing this from another liquor store owners point of view. The selection is very well stocked when it comes to the beer wine and liquor. Though they could stand to carry a few more specialty wines that my store seems to do well with. All in all I like this store and it's staff, and recommend it to whoever lives around the area or is just stopping through on their way to the beautiful Cape. read more
