We've often frequented Luke's since buying our summer home 11 years ago. We've always gone in the store solo but this time I brought my son with me simply because we were spending the day together, and he didn't want to sit in the hot car. When we got to the register, the young girl asked for our IDs. I proceeded to get mine out and told her he didn't have one. She informed me she couldn't sell to me with him there. I actually have never brought my son into a liquor store so am unaware of any particular laws. I genuinely asked if he waited in the car could we complete the sale. She proceeded to throw her hands up in the air in front of all the customers and loudly state "I cannot sell ANYTHING to YOU." Okay...I'm confused...did I do something? I guess this is a law. I'm perfectly okay with that, and truly appreciate Luke's upholding the law as I don't condone underage drinking nor was I buying for my son. Ignorance is no excuse. But was there a reason why she couldn't nicely EXPLAIN what the law was instead of embarrassing us as if we were knowingly doing something wrong. I dropped my son off at home and thought about going back (though I'm not sure if I was blackballed for the day/week/month since she didn't explain the law to me). But CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING so I went elsewhere (without my son) to make my purchase from lovely merchant up the road. It will be a very long time before step foot in Luke's again. I'm sure Luke's does enough business that one customer won't hurt their profit but, if I'm being honest, I've never found the cashiers in the Harwich location to be all that cordial. read more

When we are at the Cape, staying in Dennis or Harwich, Luke's is always one of our first stops. A vast selection, helpful staff and well ordered aisles. This time I found that they have my favorite red blend. Highly recommended. read more

Liquor store in the Cape. Stock is mostly the American variety of beers and wine. Much smaller imported beer and old and new world wines unless US. Service was adequate since I didn't need any advice so aside from the interaction at the cashier I have not much basis to comment -- although the cashier was definitely friendlier at one branch as compared with a nearby second branch. read more

Wonderful selection of good wines. They also have great sales on hard liquors as well. I would give them 5 stars except for the fact that service levels are....shall we say....a bit on the sour side? Generally speaking, when so many employees are that unhappy, the problem often stems from what I call "trickle down bad attitude management." The sluggish and sometimes angry attitude of the staff says it all. This is not a one-off. It seems endemic to all their stores. At least the ones I've been in. Will that stop me from doing business with Lukes? Nope. I really like their selection of excellent wines and their great prices. read more

Vacationing. Decent wine selection. Planned on buying multiple bottles. Was in the store with my wife and upon check out asked for both of our IDs. My wife had not brought her purse in. Cashier was extremely rude in the way she handled the situation. We did not go back in to make the purchase because of her nasty attitude. Would not recommend. read more

Over the past year I have tried to order a specific brand and brew through several stores. I decided to try Luke's as a last resort. Luke's accomplished what the others could not and at a fair price. From now on they will be my first try. This is my favorite Lukes. The wine selection is amazing. I just ordered 3 bottles of Mer Soleil Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2009 and it's on sale for 29.95. What a wine. They have Chalk Hill and Villa Maria and many other of my favorites. The prices are fair as well. read more

I have never seen a bunch of miserable workers in my life. Unfortunately it is the closest liquor store in the area and prices are cheaper than most places. So they have me there. I witnessed today the total lack of customer service for a woman that clearly needed assistance in getting her items. They basically shrugged their shoulders and ignored her. She asked for a bottle of wine and asked if they could get her an additional bottle. They literally ignored her. SMH. I reached up and helped her instead. This was not my first encounter with the misery of thIs store. I was in last week and the vodka I needed was not on shelf. It was however in a box on the floor. Asked if I could get someone to assist - got a disgusted look and eye roll. People no one is forcing you to work there. If you hate it leave! I may just go to Plums and pay more at this point! read more

Great selection. Tons of all types of liquors. A huge selection of wines. Very close proximity to the beach so a good place to stop and grab some drinks for the day. They also have tobacco and lotto tickets. read more

Certainly don't go here for the service! Poor wine selection and no knowledge among staff. I found manager and workers to be rude and unaccommodating. Tourists grabbing a quick six-pack may not care, but as a local, I know there are numerous, better packies at which to shop. read more
