Garment is a sought-after designer vintage shop in Austin. Located on South Lamar, the shop offers a carefully curated collection of high quality women's vintage pieces. The selection embodies fashion forward vintage including well preserved and visually appealing garments. Garment has a boutique rather than a thrift shop persona. I like that clothing was loosely hung on the racks for ease of perusing the items. Bailey, the sales representative, was super patient and kind. She happily showed me anything I wished to see in the store particularly those pieces that were under lock and key. She also offered to reach out to a jewelry designer for different ring sizes...so kind of her. Garment Modern + Vintage is a great destination vintage aficionados and fashion enthusiasts. Found one item! Bailey put it in a beautiful box and bag...very nice touch! While I used a little of my credit today, I still have more to spend.

All of a sudden, one person behind the desk stated that he was too old for this, and that he just didn't feel like talking, and said it's his day off. The other person with him didn't say anything, so I just walked away, and then decided to call and Uber and leave the area. Having spent much of my working career with critically ill people who are often having the worst days of their lives, I can admit to many moments where I am super tired and frustrated with things in my own life, and understand needing to take a step away, have a minute to regroup, take a breather etc. But how am I supposed to know it's your day off if you're behind the counter, and asked me what I was looking for? what about the other person who I'm assuming was working..couldn't they have chosen to just say a few words? If they felt I was looking for a long explanation, I think a reply saying something like I'll give you the short version would have sufficed. It did made me wonder what it was about me and friends that made it seem appropriate to reply in that manner. Is the attitude some type of gimmick I'm not aware of? Im not necessarily angry, Just felt disappointed. Made me wonder what I had to look like to get treated nicely. Maybe it's the fact half my outfit is from Costco, the other half from Marshall's. There are so many thrift stores out there that I've gone to but this one by far is one of the best as far as clothing selections go. I always walk out with $30-70 worth of clothes and with that money I get so much especially on discounted items. Not to mention their used clothes are so well priced it honestly makes the experience more enjoyable. Now here are the cons. Their new with tags items are WAY over priced, some near retail. I know those are supposed to be more expensive ideally they should at least be half off not near retail price which defeats the purpose of buying them thrifted. Another thing, it's way too hot and stuffy in there. I've gotten used to it but they don't have AC only fans which doesn't do much only if you're in front of it. Other than that the pros outweigh the cons. The employees are cool, and honestly I typically spend like 3-4 hours there at most. I always look forward to coming here. The worst part was how rude their customer service is. My 2.5 year old is deaf/hard of hearing and took off her hearing aid in the store. My husband put it in what he thought was our cart. When we realized he had misplaced her hearing aid, I went back inside to look for it. I asked one of the stockers to help and they ignored me. I then went to the front to ask for help and was told that I would need to look in the carts myself. I told the lady that my daughter needs the hearing aid to hear and they are very expensive but she blew me off again and told me to look myself. I then told her I had spent $60 in the store and that they were $12,000 and asked if she would please help me. She told me " not with that attitude I can't." She then forced me to take a breath and continued to berate me about my attitude after she had refused to help me. She finally did make an announcement and someone came forward with the hearing aid. I'll never go back to this store and would never recommend it to anyone.
