    God, I love this place.

I judge a place by its character and location. When you visit enough times, the people at the register begin to remember you as you walk by. Enjoying the chatter with the staff who work here. We can learn when the good stuff comes and you can time your days around stopping by and checking out the new merchandise. The turnover is quick and thorough too. Other things that are claim to fame here is the floor layout is clean and is easy to walk-through. Also, the bathrooms are very clean. Spend enough times that that is important as well. You would never know that if you've never walked in. By far, this is my favorite location of all the Goodwills so far. I think it's because of its central location in Austin. It's not just garbage on the sales floor. If ever you are hunting for a good deal or a project, you'll probably find it reasonably priced. As you go further out of the area, the Goodwill stores don't carry a lot of great items. It's best to do your search closer them towards the central Austin area. As my wife likes to state it's Goodwill Hunting.

Oh wow, this is different..I'm guessing this cuts down on thieft?!

I visited this Goodwill location on 8/17/2019 while on the south side of town and for sure this Goodwill location is a strong 4.5 stars.. I didn't give it a 5 star only because the aisles were very close together for the women clothing, which made it somewhat difficult to get by others who were shopping and with all the aisles so close together, all the different smells gave me a headache so I had to cut my shopping trip short..I usually can spend hours in a Goodwill looking through EVERYTHING..it's my happy place :). This location had a great selection of women exercise clothes, which was what I was on the hunt for & the employees were very friendly and helpful. One of the employees actually gave me the INSIDE SCOOP that on 8/28/19 and 8/29/19.. EVERYTHING at this Goodwill location was going to be an additional 50% off! He wasn't sure if this would be the case at all Goodwill locations..I did ask :). I do have to say everything was organized and the dressing rooms were all clean & clutter free. For sure I will be making my way to South Austin again to visit this location when I'm in the mood to treasure hunt. ;) -Rebecca out

This is another one of those thrift stores I've been to dozens of times and occasionally I do find a little gem here and there. This location has a lot to offer in the way of shoes, clothing and glassware. However, it is very lacking in furnishings and electronics. Thanks to Covid, they no longer have their auction items available. This is a fairly spacious Goodwill and worth visiting. The photos below will give you a better idea of what to expect.

Always a good time going to Goodwill, this location is packed with great stuff. This location is organized well, it smells good like all the locations in Austin. Go often to find great deals!

    Another adorable affordable find.

This Goodwill location is my favorite. I probably visit once a week to both donate and peruse. So much so that I got a Goodwill gift card for Christmas! Things I love: Very organized Easy location to visit (tons of parking) Great selection of knick knacks, books, quality clothing, art, electronics, and furniture The people working are always very nice and helpful It's very easy to donate- there's a convenient drive through area Most important- I find great stuff!

This is 1 of 2 Goodwill stores I frequent as it is on my regular route I take when doing chores. I do not compare stores as I let each stand on its own merit. I times I have seen some interesting items, but this is a somewhat small store and so is a bit of a clutters. Digging has revealed a couple of items that I bought. I did notice that it has a pretty good collection of mixed cookware, which would be good for students, those just starting out on their own or low cost food trucks. I try to stop by about every two weeks. I keep hoping to find a rare music item but have not yet had any luck. I will keep trying and coming back.

    Storefront.

Yet again, I didn't see anything that closely resembled a craft section and certainly no yarn in particular. What I did see was more and more brand new items like they're trying to turn from a used store into a Big Lots or Dollar General Store. I don't come in to Goodwill to buy brand new sheets, brand new shoes, brand new cleaning supplies, or brand new clothes. I can get those anywhere. I come into Goodwill looking for deals on items I might be able to use that are cheap because they are gently used but still in good condition.

We do not need to have to watch our feet to not step over a dog puddle/or worse. I understand certified ADA service digs, but will never accept emotional support/entitlement. No one wants to shop with a basket that previously had a dog/cat beforehand. It is gross to have to wipe down or deal with pet hair (many of us are allergic). I'm a dog owner and I would not bring my pet among strangers-they can easily get sick too. Not too many people care if they have a cold/or worse and it is stressful to be preoccupied to keep human to pet safe distance. I may start shopping, but if I have to weave in or around someone's dog/cat() then I just leave. Its not worth the stressful shopping. I lose my thrifting buzz having to watch my steps from pets. Many of us are frustrated with this entitlement of inconsiderate pet owners.

Every tag shows when the item will be marked down next, so if something is a little too expensive for my bargain-hunting budget today, I can either look for older tags that have already been discounted or make a note to come back after the next markdown. It's such a smart system, and it makes shopping here a lot more fun. I also love that the store is staffed by volunteers and that the proceeds benefit local charities. It's nice knowing that my purchases are helping support good causes. For me, though, the biggest draw is the selection. They consistently have a great assortment of vintage glassware, including Early American Prescut (EAPC) and other beautiful older pieces. Since my goal when thrifting is to find things I couldn't otherwise afford, Next-to-New gives me a real chance to do exactly that. Their clothing section is another reason I keep coming back. They always seem to have quality pieces at fair prices, often from really good brands. I especially appreciate that everything is organized by size instead of just by type of clothing, so I'm only looking through items that might actually fit instead of wasting time digging through everything. If you enjoy the hunt and don't mind waiting for markdowns, this is one of the best places in Austin to shop for secondhand treasures.
