I used the drive-thru today to drop off some donations. The employee who assisted me was very friendly and helpful. I appreciated that. He also offered me the charity receipt, which is standard. There were two cars in front of me, but there were multiple employees, and they worked efficiently to keep things flowing smoothly, which kept the line moving. I judge a place by its character and location. When you visit enough times, the people at the register begin to remember you as you walk by. Enjoying the chatter with the staff who work here. We can learn when the good stuff comes and you can time your days around stopping by and checking out the new merchandise. The turnover is quick and thorough too. Other things that are claim to fame here is the floor layout is clean and is easy to walk-through. Also, the bathrooms are very clean. Spend enough times that that is important as well. You would never know that if you've never walked in. By far, this is my favorite location of all the Goodwills so far. I think it's because of its central location in Austin. It's not just garbage on the sales floor. If ever you are hunting for a good deal or a project, you'll probably find it reasonably priced. As you go further out of the area, the Goodwill stores don't carry a lot of great items. It's best to do your search closer them towards the central Austin area. I visited this Goodwill location on 8/17/2019 while on the south side of town and for sure this Goodwill location is a strong 4.5 stars.. I didn't give it a 5 star only because the aisles were very close together for the women clothing, which made it somewhat difficult to get by others who were shopping and with all the aisles so close together, all the different smells gave me a headache so I had to cut my shopping trip short..I usually can spend hours in a Goodwill looking through EVERYTHING..it's my happy place :). This location had a great selection of women exercise clothes, which was what I was on the hunt for & the employees were very friendly and helpful. One of the employees actually gave me the INSIDE SCOOP that on 8/28/19 and 8/29/19.. EVERYTHING at this Goodwill location was going to be an additional 50% off! He wasn't sure if this would be the case at all Goodwill locations..I did ask :). I do have to say everything was organized and the dressing rooms were all clean & clutter free. This is another one of those thrift stores I've been to dozens of times and occasionally I do find a little gem here and there. This location has a lot to offer in the way of shoes, clothing and glassware. However, it is very lacking in furnishings and electronics. Thanks to Covid, they no longer have their auction items available. This is a fairly spacious Goodwill and worth visiting. The photos below will give you a better idea of what to expect. read more

All Goodwills in Austin are overpriced but this one is insane. I mean, Walmart is literally across the street - if I wanted generic low quality brands I could just go across the street and buy new clothes for the same prices or maybe a little more. This Goodwill clearly thinks they know about brands and value but they're ridiculous. Whoever is in charge of the pricing should be fired immediately. Think of it- I found about five clothes I would have bought. But they were easily 25-50% higher than any other goodwill in ATX. So I bought one thing. So they made $10 instead of $40 which they would have made if all the items were reasonably priced. THEIR INVENTORY IS FREE. Why does goodwill not understand basic retail economics? This is common sense. Price your (freely acquired) merchandise to sell, and you'll make MORE money in volume. You are NOT a boutique. You should go ask your neighbor Walmart about volume pricing since your manager is clearly incompetent. Oh yeah and Under Armour is not Lululemon so why are you pricing it like it is? Oh maybe because you pull all your lululemon (and every other actually good brand) to sell in your online business? I hope Goodwill goes out of business forever because of locations like this. Greedy greedy and horrible. Plus the workers at this location are loud, rude, and obnoxious. Please join me, if you're reading this, in boycotting this location until they bring their prices to a reasonable level. read more

This Goodwill location is my favorite. I probably visit once a week to both donate and peruse. So much so that I got a Goodwill gift card for Christmas! This is 1 of 2 Goodwill stores I frequent as it is on my regular route I take when doing chores. I do not compare stores as I let each stand on its own merit. I times I have seen some interesting items, but this is a somewhat small store and so is a bit of a clutters. Digging has revealed a couple of items that I bought. I did notice that it has a pretty good collection of mixed cookware, which would be good for students, those just starting out on their own or low cost food trucks. I try to stop by about every two weeks. I keep hoping to find a rare music item but have not yet had any luck. I will keep trying and coming back. read more

What I did see was more and more brand new items like they're trying to turn from a used store into a Big Lots or Dollar General Store. I don't come in to Goodwill to buy brand new sheets, brand new shoes, brand new cleaning supplies, or brand new clothes. I can get those anywhere. I absolutely cannot believe the disregard for safety here. There was a group of older ladies yelling, laughing and completely ignoring how close they came to anyone in the store. No masks at all. No concern whatsoever for the immune compromised momma behind them just trying to get clothes for her child. The whole time their cashier was laughing right along with them. (My cashier was great I might add). Just shocked at how careless this is. Complete inability to read the crowd too, as everyone else was looking in disbelief as well! read more

Came by today to drop off a donation. The drop off drive through was super easy, went by quickly and they even provided me a receipt. But the real MVP goes to Evan! Nearly an hour later I realized I must have left one of my own belongings in one of the seven giant bags I dropped off. Evan stayed on the phone with me until he located the right bag. He then dumped the bag, sifted through everything and found a small leather strap that goes to a super sentimental piece of mine. The staff is always helpful when I donate and help me with my stuff out of my vehicle. Standard Goodwill store. Lots of clothes that are organized by color. I didn't see anything that caught my eye but the staff was friendly. It's not very big but it's fairly neat and clean. There were so cool stuff in display cases, like musical instruments, and antiques. read more

So one day I found myself on a search for records (vinyl) and figured I'd swing in here as I had heard rumors they do have them. Walked in the door and immediately to my right was a bunch of records. They seemed to be on the floor and for sale so I began browsing. A few seconds later an employee comes over and says they aren't for sale and are for an auction... ok... Went to browse the rest of the store for other junk I didn't need, but exited shortly after. Got a whole meh vibe from here, likely won't be back. read more

Nice selection. Prices were reasonable...a bit more than other stores but being as shopping at Goodwill is like participating in a school fundraiser it's worth the few extra cents or dollars. Since they exist on donations selections are always changing. One has to remember why they exist...to help those in need. You AREN'T going into Macy's. There aren't seventeen employees beating each other up for commission from your sale. Some things end up unpriced but so what? I picked up a barely used bread machine that works GREAT for $15, a totally unused air popping machine for popcorn, a lot of nifty books (including one for card tricks and balloon sculptures since I have a group of scouts to entertain) and a large Lincoln Log set that was $3.99. read more

Goodwill has used the Covid 19 as a reason not to reopen the dressing rooms. Now if you like you must buy it take it home and then find out it doesn't fit. Forget about getting your money back they hold on to your money and give you a crappy gift card. So they never really lose a sale. You waste your time and gas having to go back. Houston goodwill dressing rooms have been open for 4 months now. I will never donate to a goodwill anymore. read more

Thank God for Goodwill! After having problems recycling computers and monitors with other places, it was so refreshing to deal with Goodwill off Metric, right next to Highway 183! I drove up to unload the old monitors and the gentleman unloading everything for me and then even offered me a tax receipt! The unloading area was covered, so I didn't get wet, while it was raining. And, there wasn't any hesitation to take any of my items. Just please be kind to them and don't leave your stuff at their door, after hours. That's totally uncool. read more

I purchased an item (over $100) at the online auction from Goodwill of Central Texas and it arrived completely damaged. I contacted them immediately and 3 times since then - one week ago - and have had NO response from them. Unacceptable! - I don't advise buying anything from the GW Central Texas as you may receive damaged item and take a chance you'll never hear from them, after they have your money, of course. read more

I stopped by this Goodwill to pick up a few items for my show. I usually don't head to Goodwill because of the pricing- there are much better thrift stores out there. Since I was in the area, I stopped in. Plenty of parking, so that's cool. The store also seems clean, too. I was searching for menswear. After wasting a few minutes looking for it, I finally saw it on the far left-hand side of the store. The prices were about what I could expect from a Goodwill.. $4.99-7.99 for the shirts at which I was taking a gander. The thrift stores I usually shop at list prices on goods of similar quality between $1-4. Also, some shirts were not marked at all- so I had no idea what price they were. But since I was there for convenience, I picked up a few shirts. I went to the register and waited, realizing that there seemed to be an absence of workers in the place. Eventually someone came by and noticed the clothes in my hand and asked if I was there to check out. Yup. So my few shirts came out to around $50, which wasn't terrible, but it could have been much better. The unpriced ones were identified to be some generic shirt price (which they probably should just post on the racks like I've seen at other Goodwills). So I stopped, just to check it out, but it was like most other Goodwill stores I've been to- I probably won't be back too often. read more

Overpriced. I saw someone spend $80 on an ALMOST brand new pair of Asics that you could get at the store for the exact same price in the box. The books are good price and in good shape. The rest of the store was ehh. Especially the clothes. I thought the price was a little much. However I did get a brand new military shirt for $2 so that was great. Oh and the children's clothing leaves much to be desired especially for young boys. I'll come back occasionally because it is close to my house but it's one of the more expensive Goodwills Ive been to. Although I am new here and according the other reviews from other places, Goodwills around here seem to be more expensive than other places. read more

The is by far the worst of the Goodwills. The staff was very rude and unpleasant. Smiling does not hurt you at all and goes a long way. Furthermore, this store is also extremely overpriced. Also, there is always such a line at checkout. The Goodwill on Brodie however, is much better and a much more pleasant store. When you enter that store the people nicely greet you and checkout is much shorter. read more

Please don't send your trucks around our neighborhood looking for things to take in our front yard and when your truck knocks over our dumpster and sends the trash all over the road, maybe you should stop and pick it up instead of making a pregnant person go out in the heat to correct your mistake. This is a pretty large goodwill store. The folks that work here are very nice. The selection is good too. The evening I went they were on overstock trying to find a home for everything. Which is good for the consumer (great selection!) I went specifically looking for an office desk and I found one in perfect condition for $20. And some other things too! If you don't want to spend much money - go to Goodwill. That's right - but nothing new. Well, it's close to our house, has a huge parking space in front of it and little traffic around - so no traffic hazzle. The location is pretty big and well organized. My wife and me went there already 4 times within 6 weeks - because it was worth going there. We always found a good bargain - and made our kids happy. We would have never ever spent a lot of money on some toys, but for $5 you don't think twice. We are really glad to have this Goodwill in our neighborhood. read more

I took a clothing item to the register with the discounted color tag on it, but no price. Cashier sent it to get priced. They then told me the discount no longer applied because when they took the item to get the new price, it now has a DIFFERENT color tag. ??? I pointed out that it still had the other color tag attached. Walked out with nothing. I'm assuming they thought I had some kind of clothes tagging machine with a rainbow variety of tags in my purse. Or they really needed to make sure to get 100% profit from the sale of this item at regular price, instead of the 100% profit they woulda made had they sold the item at half off -____- read more

I attended the Transitions for the Future Symposium for my son who is 14 and is Autistic. I wanted to know what type of options he had when he because of age. I must admit, I thought his future was bleak, but now after attending the symposium and learning about all the different programs that all of those places had to offer. I am very impressed and I feel a little more at ease when it comes to my developmentally disabled son. I now know that he will be able to work independently and that there are many options for him to follow on if he so chooses. The symposium was free and lunch was provided, there were many key note speakers including the Commissioner for DADS, a journalist from Texas Monthly and various other agencies providing information on medicaid waivers, estate planning, employment and housing options. I encourage anyone who knows of anyone who is disabled to utilize these resources, they are there and they are very encouraging! read more

This Goodwill on Brodie Lane is my happy place. It's pretty spacious, has a good selection, and the staff have been nice and professional every time I've shopped there (which is about 3 times a month.) This Goodwill has a great selection of housewares, dishes, and decorative items which are my favorite. I am the rare shopper that does not use Goodwill just for clothes. Vintage kitchen and household items are my addiction. There is always enough parking, even when the store is busy. They have nice furniture too, better than I have seen at other Goodwill locations. If the line at a register is too long, they always call for back up. Their checkers are fast and always answer any questions I have. The biggest plus of this Goodwill? There stuff is never overpriced. It is a true thrift store where you can find tons of awesome deals. I bought a $60 rice cooker for $6, a $45 Oster blender for $10, silver plate candle stick holders for 99 cents, antique fine china saucers for 59 cents each - the list goes on and on. The Goodwill location on S. Lamar really marks their stuff up so I can't buy as much as I'd like. I can always get whatever I want at the Brodie location. Although I haven't bought as clothes here, when I look I see lots of LL Bean, J Crew, etc. - good selection and I'm pleased with the shirts I have bought there. read more

I like this store. It's pretty small, but it's well kept up and in a nice area with lots of parking. I went in today to look for photo frames and ended up with three! I picked up one of those boards with ribbons cutting across where you can slide photos in and the price on it said 99 cents. Below that sticker was another price: $3.99. The cashier handed it off to someone else for a price check and she came back with a $2.99 price. What??? I don't know why they didn't honor the 99 cent price, or even the $3.99 in case the 99 cent was a mistake. It was really weird. I bought it, but I found it odd that neither price on the board was correct. Interesting pricing strategies. The cashier was super nice and chatty. She gave me some tips on where to find cheap scrapbooking supplies and how to make photo boards like the one I bought. Awesome! read more
