Somehow, I learned about a children's production presented through their educational wing. I'm not sure if their education & engagement was this strong in years past or perhaps I simply wasn't dialed into their offerings, but that's definitely changing now. We went to see Splish Splash. This was a 50 minute long story about a blue heron and friends who are seeking to repair the moon after it fell into Lake Michigan. There were songs, there was play, and it was highly interactive. The kids--fellow "sailors", along with three of the cast members--learned a song to sing along at various parts of the show. There were several times when the kids were invited onto the "stage" (it was in one of their lab/classroom spaces, so there wasn't a raised stage) to help or participate. It was so well done, and kept the kids engaged. I really loved how this experience was designed. Upon arrival we were checked in and pointed to one of the classroom spaces. I was surprised because I wasn't sure how actors could be safe there, but it was actually a room for the kids to color and read books or play with toys and stuff before we were taken into the room where the performance took place. I've only seen something that was meant to keep kids busy like that before showtime is at Filament Theatre, and we've gone to kids shows at two or three other theaters by now. It was a great touch. This production was specifically geared toward children aged 0-5, which is atypical and felt so special that it was written with the littlest theatergoers. One of the important pre-show reminders was for adults, reminding us that it's a no-shush zone! I'm so excited that one of the most important theaters in the city, and the oldest non-profit theater still in operation in Chicago, is so committed to developing young audiences in an exciting way and meeting them where they're at. We'll be regulars at their Theatre for the Very Young programs.

While annoying, I realize that stuff happens. The reason for one star was the customer service. The woman on the phone did not apologize one time. When I asked about it, she claimed it was not their fault, that it was the theater's fault. Rule one of customer service, just act like you give a darn about your customers inconvenience. I would AVOID these guys as they did not deliver the tickets promised.

We arrived on time, were seated, and the concert started on time. The acoustics are great and our seats were in a good spot. We used their concession stand to get water and snacks - because we bought our tickets and paid for the concessions using a Chase card, we were given a big discount - nice. I like its ornate décor, the stadium style seats set-up which offers good stage view, the acoustics, and the overall aesthetics of this venue which makes it an ideal place to watch live events. On my recent (late June 2026) visit to see The Human League, Soft Cell, and Alison Moyet for the Generations tour, overall, I had a good experience. There were couple of issues that we had such as lack of cool air circulation inside the auditorium (it was hot and sweaty) and a couple of people standing throughout the show to dance, blatantly blocking other peoples' view and not caring about being inconsiderate and uncourteous to people behind them to which the theatre ushers had no problem with it. Otherwise, I have not had issues at this venue. So, 4.5 stars but rounded up to five. I look forward to going back here.

By the way when I reached out to the insurance company using the link they sent me, it said they could not locate a policy number with my name and number. So don't bother with the insurance in my opinion- just a way to give them an extra $25. The bank suggested I try to reach out before I perused the disputed so I emailed them using the same email I got with the confirmation number. I was polite, brief and asked for an update. I received a very professional and friendly email reply within 20 minutes suggesting I wait and explaining the process a little better about waiting for the seller to contact me via email. Then not 30 minutes later I received an email with the ticket transfer from Ticketmaster and after I signed into Ticketmaster I was able to transfer the tickets easily and quickly. Maybe it was luck but all worked out splendidly for me despite many of the other horrifying reviews. Just be patient, courteous and give them a chance because once they have payment your best bet is to use kindness as your weapon of choice and see how much further you will get like I did the very first time. Instead, I found the Medieval Torture Museum in Chicago to be surprisingly expansive, covering thousands of square feet with more than 100 devices, scenes, and exhibits. The museum contains an impressive number of props, torture instruments, wax figures, and dummies arranged into realistic scenes. Some displays are interactive, allowing visitors to examine or carefully operate certain devices, and there are plenty of photo opportunities throughout. The exhibits can be graphic, but I wouldn't describe them as excessively over the top. They are gruesome enough to make you appreciate modern dentistry, hospitals, and the general invention of human rights. We found the subject matter fascinating, so we spent about two hours exploring the museum. We read all of the informational plaques, examined the displays, and took plenty of pictures. The audio guide adds additional historical context, and the museum also offers a ghost-hunting app, which is a wonderfully strange feature to use while standing beside an iron maiden. As a man who personally witnessed several of these devices in their original working condition, I can confirm that the museum's recreations are quite accurate. I even recognized one exhibit as the exact machine used to settle a dispute between two knights over a moderately attractive turnip. The museum is dark, educational, interactive, and thoroughly fascinating. It is not for everyone, especially those who are sensitive to graphic depictions of violence, but anyone interested in medieval history, true crime, horror, or the darker side of human behavior should find plenty to enjoy. I arrived from the Middle Ages expecting to feel nostalgic.
