We travel and need a place close to work. We were charged an amount before renting, we rented 311 E 12th. The place was filthy, the oven door fell off on Thanksgiving day. We didn't want to be fussy crybabies so we mentioned it but nothing happened. They rented it out and we were going to extend because it is a convenient location. Well after we left them they noticed how filthy it was, I did clean but the rugs were terrible, the previous tenant flipped the rug and I guess they didn't notice it then. We were guided towards an apartment through Seattle Furnished Suites on West Nickerson. On selling us on renting this place, communication was good, and the pictures looked nice, clean and well-finished. Turns out the prices were too good to be true. We had to scramble when the wrong keys were left, the apartment was filthy (our feet turned black from the dirty carpet, which took a week to get cleaned), and the wiring from the walls was exposed. The finishes were beyond amateurish - I sliced my finger on the vent hood (which didn't work) because the edge was exposed, baseboards ended abruptly, leaving holes between the floor and the wall, the closets reeked of mold, and the window screen were falling out (where they were installed). The real cherry on top was that the bedrooms had NO smoke alarms. We had to buy our own to plug in. The maintenance on this building was appalling. We had ants and flies filling the apartment at various points, a wasp nest was right off the staircase, and there were insufficient utilities. All of the units shared a wifi password, and, at one point when my children (3 and 4 years old) were watching a show, someone casted porn onto our TV from another apartment. There was also one recycling bin for a 6 unit building, which was woefully insufficient. (According to guidelines from the city, 1-2 families should share a bin of the size provided.) And the hot water routinely ran out by the time I was done with a 5-7 minute shower. We reported these issues and were met with either silence or patchy solutions that took forever to be enacted. The place literally made us sick by the time we moved out. Finally, dealing with Dale was a headache in and of itself. We maintained our unit as best we could, even hiring a housekeeper while we were there to keep it as clean as possible. However, when Dale had a single issue to communicate with me (that I should have been stacking my recycling differently), he emailed, texted, and confronted me in person (when I had never met him in person and had no idea who he was) to yell at me about it instead of addressing me courteously at all. Further, he unprofessionally exposed my personal information to the other tenants and insulted me when I called him out for it. His initial response to basic communication was to insult first, backtrack later. He was and unprofessional and rude person to interact with, and I highly advise people that, if you can afford it, to stay away from this company. read more

We rented the 2BR 2.5BA unit in West Seattle for 12 months. The unit is a efficient, modern unit that comes fully furnished. The neighborhood is in the quiet north Admiral District. The beds in the lower bedroom can be pushed together and used as a full size mattress or they can (as we did) divided to form 2 twin beds. The rent included everything - internet, cable, trash, water, utilities, backyard grill, service from the landlord as needed. Because of the new construction, I did not run into any issues with anything that needed servicing. Given the comparable rents in the are, and considering this unit comes fully furnished, it was a great situation for us. There just aren't that many furnished units out there and the others we found were old and of much lesser quality. This is an excellent place to rent if you need a furnished condo in West Seattle. read more

Moved to Seattle. One of our jobs arranged a month of short term housing in a new-construction high-rise apartment. The issue is that we have kids... and it was more than $7500/month to extend past that first month, and we had to know two months in advance if we'd extend or not, making the "free" short term housing an incredibly expensive proposition. We searched online, and found two far-less-expensive options; Seattle Furnished Suites and Short Term Suites Seattle. The latter failed us in a pretty basic way, so we called Dale at Seattle Furnished Suites, and wound up staying in the 3BR unit in Magnolia. First up, and obviously: $7500/month rents a *pristine* 2BR furnished, short-term unit in Seattle right now. Rent on a 3BR here was less than half of that. We didn't expect pristine, just functional, and Seattle Furnished Suites delivered 100%. Neighbors were friendly, Dale answered any questions or emails same-day, only real issue we had in two months was the vacuum cleaner breaking, which was quick to get replaced. I'd gladly rent from Seattle Furnished Suites again; renting here let us spend time learning a bit of the city before hunting for a more permanent place, and while it wasn't cheap, the price made it much, much lower stress. Both the ability to learn the city and not stress as much about cost made moving to Seattle much, much more pleasant. Thank you! read more

Beware of these apartments Ravenna suites on Ravenna blvd. We stayed in 101 and the black mold issue is so bad we could breath and were having asthma attacks. When we told Dale about it he offered to move us into another apartment in the same disgusting building. No thanks. So glad we found a brand newly built place. I arranged a 2 month stay in the West Seattle townhouse this summer. The location is excellent with many bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery/gas options. Walkable, beautiful area and a park nearby with awesome views of Seattle! I'm a retired real estate agent and I own rental homes myself. The property was above average especially for the price and the property manager Jen was super easy to communicate with. One note of caution..a walk through before taking possession is a good idea. I found an unkempt patio area, stove top grates greasy, utensils that should be replaced, and bedding that was showing its age...as well as dust in areas under and around furniture. I kept Jen informed of all of this so she knew I was reporting items to be helpful. 30 days into the stay, I reported steam mold on the Master closet and bathroom frame. I had been using fans (a necessity because of hot weather) and nothing was done about it. When I moved out, I was accused of causing the problem!!! To Jen's credit, she sent my deposit back minus the cleaning fee (double the price quoted in my lease) and said she would work things out with the owners. The parking spot provided is difficult to get in or out because a telephone pole needs to be negotiated...there is plenty of street parking however. 5 stars to Jen, 4 stars to property read more

Dale has been quick to respond to all my questions, suggested several good housing options and just been a professional person. We decided on a unit, sent him the deposit all the way from Sweden - but had to cancel the reservation due to change of plans. My son received medical treatment in Seattle which required us to stay for almost six months. Fortunately, I was able to find a furnished apartment with a car-port. We stayed in Seattle Suite #3 at Bay Park Terrace, which offers an incredible view of the Fremont Cut and Ballard. It is located in N. Queen Anne between the Fremont and Ballard Bridges and is close to Trader Joe's, Safeway, gas stations, restaurants, and the post office in Ballard. I always felt safe, and it was an easy ten-minute drive to both the clinic and hospital. The two-bedroom apartment was perfect for our needs and much more affordable than any other options available to us. It truly became our home away from home. As far as landlords are concerned, Dale is the best! He is always available and any issues I had were dealt with promptly and professionally. Dale is very kind, and we will always be grateful for the tremendous support he provided during a time when our family needed it the most. Everything started to go wrong, when Dale's assitant Jen did not come and show us the apartment (Maple Suite C, 311 12th Av. East) when we arrived. After her question, how we are doing in the apt, I complained about the cleaning to her, which complaint she transfered to the landlady. There was dust and carbage under the bed and an antique vacuum cleaner, which did not work properly. My husband has astma and I too started to get allergic and astmatic reactions. When I started to have questions about how things work in the apt, Jen put me together with Cate, the landlady. She took every innocent question (keys, carbage etc.) as complaining or blaming her and answered very impolitely, e.g. "I have 50 apartments in Seattle and nobody has ever asked." I felt she was so nervous and stressed that she did not even bother to read my messages, but jumped into conclusions. She did not know herself, because she had so many apts to collect the rent from, but no time to answer stupid questions. But who can you ask, when you are abroad and things work differently than at home? When I left the apartment, I got e-mails from Dale and Cate accusing me of steeling their linen and thretening to inform me to my employers, if I do not pay $ 100!!! It was really insulting. Slander is a crime, and I happen to be professor of law. There was only one set of linen in the apt, but the cleaner had misplaced another set and when he did not find it, he invented that I had stolen it. Who can believe such an illogical and lame story? Cate and Dale did. Who would fill her luggage with dusty linen, pay for overweight and carry it to the other side of the world? Well, I had seen linen in a closet of the back corridor and asked Cate in one of my disturbing e-mails, if I could use it. She answered that no. I woke up at night at home after having calculated 2 +2. After having distantly solved the linen mystery for them, I did not even get an apology for slandering me (calling be a thief and a liar). Dale said that he made a mistake and that of course they believe a cleaner they know and not me, who they do not know. Pretty odd! The apt gets one star from me, because it was so well situated close to bus stops and the Capitol Hill link rail station. So, if you do not have allergies and do not get in touch with the landlady, it may be safe to stay there. Maybe you are not called a thief, if you have nothing to complain. This is my first ever Yelp post, but the disservice and dishonesty of Dale Hicklin and the dive condition of the property I rented compel me to warn others. I rented a studio his company in Ballard site unseen as I was relocating to Seattle from out of state. The studio stank of mold and the mold underneath the wood floor in the kitchen had actually turned the wood black. You'd think he'd notice. The walls were a thin film of dust on every surface --like a little dust bunnies hatching. When I arrived the night time temperature was 20 degrees. The studio wasn't heated and there was no instruction on how to turn the heater on. Nor were there instructions on how to operate the TV. But the thing that really gripes me is that the smoke detector didn't work. To be nice, I offered to Dale Hicklin that I'd purchase batteries to replace if he'd reimburse me when It was time to return my deposit. He said he would. Well it turns out that it wasn't the batteries, the entire smoke detector didn't work. He suggested that I go look for a replacement. To be nice I agreed even though I was totally unfamiliar with the area. Ultimately I left before finding a replacement. Dale Hicklin didn't refund the price of the 9 volt batteries (almost $8.00) when he returned my deposit as promised. I made two separate friendly reminders. Today he reports that it's such a small amount that he doesn't want to take the time. If you find this behavior objectionable, don't rent from Seattle Furnished Suites. And if your a property owner, think twice before hiring Dale Hicklin to manager your property. read more

We had a lovely three month stay in the West Seattle townhouse this summer. The appliances were modern as was the rest of the apartment. Also, It was nicely furnished., There are 2 and 1/2 half baths in the apartment with full baths in each sleeping area and a half bath on the main living level. There were plenty of linens and the kitchen was well stocked. There was a dedicated parking space in back of the townhouse as well as sufficient street parking on California Ave. West Seattle is a very pleasant area to live in. We were in walking distance to a Classic movie theater, many restaurants, a drug store and super markets. From across the street you can get a free shuttle to Alki Beach which was not very far. Alki Beach is like being at a beach resort except you are in the city. It had views of the mountains on the Olympic Peninsula and of the harbor. The beach also has a very fine view of downtown Seattle and the surrounding neighborhoods. There is good bus transportation to downtown from California Ave. We enjoyed our stay as it was very convenient to our son's house in Beacon Hill. We had no problems at all with the town house. read more

The Carriage House at Haller Lake has been a real retreat. It is so peaceful with the beautiful trees and the lake. The carriage house has everything you need. The owners live next door and are happy to lend you eggs or ginger if you run out of something in a pinch. In the summer, the lake is a huge bonus. The owners have many different kinds of boats to use whenever you want. This has the best laid out kitchen I have ever cooked in. The carriage house is newer construction and is very clean. read more

I arranged a booking with Seattle Furnished Suites prior to moving from across the country. The photos of the place looked great and I thought the rate was reasonable. Dale was very prompt, polite, and detail-oriented in our communications. It was easy to book and arrange a meeting time. I was impressed and optimistic. When we arrived at the unit (Ravenna), however, our expectations were not met. The suite was garden-level, while we were led to believe it would be on the first floor. The space had not been thoroughly cleaned: I found clumps of long black hair on the bathroom floor and some random trinkets appeared to have been left behind by the previous tenants. Some building fixtures were in disrepair - e.g. a window screen right next to the front entrance was falling down. When we asked Dale to fix this he said that it could take a couple weeks to fix, but that we shouldn't worry because "there aren't bugs in Seattle anyway." The biggest issue was that the window frames and window sills were caked with black mold. My husband and I were really concerned about the mold as a matter of health but Dale explained that "no one has had a problem with it before." His lack of concern about these issues rubbed us the wrong way, and the overall feeling of the unit was dark/dank and creepy. Accordingly, we decided not to stay in the unit. Fair enough, Seattle Furnished Suites kept our deposit. Not a good way to start our new life in Seattle. :( read more

The negative aspects of this review apply to the owners more so than Dale, the property manager. Unfortunately, nearly any decision related to property issues was relayed to the owners before Dale could take action. My wife, infant son and I stayed at the Woodland Park Home (2BR, 2.5 BA) for 12 months. We were responsible tenants in that we provided the rent check 1 week in advance and took care of the place as if it were our own. Pros: -Clean, ready to move-in -Outstanding location Cons: -RENTER BEWARE: At the end of out stay, we conducted a walk through with Dale and he indicated everything was in fine order. The following week, the owners declared that 1) three of the dining chairs were torn and needed to be replaced 2) small holes in the wall used to install a nanny camera (authorized by email from the owners) needed to be repaired and 3) the first floor smelled like urine and required extensive cleaning. They withheld, in essence, the security deposit for these falsified claims. We were shocked by these accusations as we have never been in this position in all the places we have rented in the past. -We found a rat living in the garage in the fall (near piles of cardboard boxes left by the owners). We asked the Dale and the owners to address the problem IMMEDIATELY. The owners needed to be badgered via phone and email before anyone came to the house (more than 7 days later). In essence, it is a nice physical structure with an excellent location. Dale is a responsive manager. However, be sure to perform the walk-through with the OWNERS THEMSELVES and ask for your security deposit in hand before moving out. read more

Working with Dale at Seattle Furnished Suites made our transition to Seattle living so much easier. He is very nice and very responsive. We began researching furnished places in October 2013, targeting a move in of January 2014. We planned to stay for six months to acclimate to Seattle before choosing a permanent location when there were more housing options available. Dale was very helpful, worked with us on a pet policy (we have 2 small pups) and reserved the unit to put our minds at ease. Since our flights didn't land until 9PM on a Tuesday he arranged to leave a key for us in a predetermined spot and even turned on the heat before our arrival, a welcome surprise after a stressful moving day! We lived in the Harvard suite (Broadway) in Capitol Hill for six months, moving out in late June. The location was perfect, any issues like clogged up sink were dealt with promptly and all-in-all relatively painless living. Moving out was a breeze.
