I am sooo glad my boyfriend and I did this tour. We visit Seattle quite a bit so Pike Place Market…read moreis definitely not new to us, but we wanted an activity to do and since we both have never done a food tour before we thought, why not. Not only did we get to sample many different yummy "bites" within the market, we also got to learn about the rich history and culture of how the market came about. It gave me such a deeper respect for this place. Booking this tour is fairly easy to do online. On the day of you are to meet at the designated location to meet your guide. If there are any issues you can contact the owner Mark directly and they have a 100% money back if you're not satisfied. If this isn't good customer service then I don't know what is. Our guide for the day was Chip. Chip was friendly, funny, and engaging. You can tell he loves his job and is proud to share his knowledge about the market. He remembered all of our names and I felt this made it seem so much more personal than a tour. If there is a large group you will be provided audio headsets but since we were only a group of 6 that day we were able to hear him just fine without them. You can tell there has been a lot of thought put into this tour and I applaud the company for such a wonderful job well done. Not only were the bites we got to sample so delicious, they were a nice variety ranging from the the famous Pike Place Chowder to Elleno's Greek Yogurt to Texas BBQ to Mexican tacos to Paris-inspired crepes to fresh local and seasonal fruits, just to name a few. And let's talk about the servings. They feed a generous amount so that by the end of the tour we were actually full. Totally bang for your buck! This is a great activity for tourists and locals alike to spend an afternoon at the market. A nice plus is if you decide to come back and visit any of the merchants after the tour, you will receive a discount. If you're reading this then do not wait any longer! Go reserve a tour now! My go to type tour is usually the hop on hop off style but when planning my recent trip to Seattle my friend suggested we try a bike tour. I had never done a bike tour before so I was intrigued but a little nervous about the weather. Looking around at tours the 1st one I found was rather pricey but she found IBike which was much more reasonable, in addition to being personal and customized. Since she was so gun-ho on a bike tour I figured why not it's worth a try and it hopefully it won't rain, well it did but it really wasn't that bad. Don't let the rain discourage you from taking this amazing tour. We e-mailed in a few question before we booked, David the owner was very responsive. After finding out we'd be able to use the limited loaner bikes and the half day tour was 4-5 hours we booked the half day tour. David set up for appropriate size bikes and helmets to be near our hotel where the tour would begin and Mark our guide for the day meet us in the lobby. He had extra gear for us in case we were under prepared in terms of rain gear and gloves, which we weren't but it was awesome that he was so prepared and he went over a few options for our route before we set out. Each tour is customized to your group, we asked to hit up a few spots but basically were looking for a past and current history of Seattle. We started in Pike Place Market were we stopped by Rachel the Pig, than made our way to the waterfront where we unfortunately couldn't see the Olympic Mountains or Mount Renoir due to the overcast and rainy weather but Mark swore they were there, the day after our tour it had cleared up and we could see them so Mark didn't lie to us. We went along the water front area to Pioneer Square. Along the way there were a few stops where we learn about some current issue with the highways and waterways of the city as well as the past and how the city was created, what brought people here, the indigoes people of the area. From Pioneer Square we made our way past the stadium and through the International district to Japan town where we got our 1st taste of the hills of Seattle on a bike. We opted for the hillier more neighborhood route but the tour can be made with limited hills, my friend and I are both very active and enjoyed the challenge but that's not for everyone so don't be discouraged if hills aren't for you. I'm not that fast and took my time up the hill which wasn't a problem with Mark at all he was glad to go at any pace. From there we did make our way down a few busy street and up to the site of the Black Panther House and near the last school Jimi Hendrix attended. From there we stop near the major club area of Seattle learn more about some issue in the city and stop at the newly created Maple Leaf Reservoir Park. Then we made our way through Seattle University, which is no longer Jesuit and has the architecturally famous St Ignatius Church. From there it was on Volunteer Park where there is a nice view of the Space Needle and the Volunteer Park Water Tower although shorter due to being on a hill has the same view point as the Space Needle. We asked if we could go up and Mark was happy to let us but did inform us the tour might go a little over which was fine by us if he didn't mind. We got to go through some section of the city that looked like Seattle before it was developed and logged the trees weren't as old as the original but you go the feel, it was beautiful. Along the way we pass through a variety of neighborhoods and see the various types of housing. Took side roads and paths there no way we would of know of or found on our own. We headed over to the University Of Washington Udub not UW we learned. There was an optional bathroom break at Gas Works Park which had an amazing view of downtown. We went through Fremont where we saw the troll and ended our tour at the Fremont Brewing Company. Mark was great he knew so much about the city and was a wealth of information. He had extra granola bars which he shared with us midway through the ride. You were able to ask unlimited questions, it was very interactive. At the end he told us he'd email us a map of our route which he did and it was such a cool thing to have. We were also given bike maps to keep and bus schedules to get us back to our hotel. This was one of the best tours I've been on and I've been on a lot of tours.

Mark and David met us at our hotel with bikes and gave us an incredible tour of the city and out to the Locks. His knowledge of the history of the city was incredible and my 13 year old history buff could not have enjoyed himself anymore. My son is not real confident on a bike and David kept him extremely safe throughout the 4 hour tour. I highly recommend you contacting them about a tour of Seattle.

I love her enthusiasm, knowledge, historical facts, and information she shared with us regarding Pike Place Market and its vendors. The curated food samples around the market were well-organized, generously portioned, and delicious. I highly recommend this tour for both locals and tourists alike. I am a local Seattleite. I did this tour for the first time over 10 years ago and was pleased that it wasn't exactly the same places we stopped at before. Plus, it reminded me to go back and support businesses that I had forgotten about and to continue exploring the market and to come back often because this place is truly a gem and worthy of our support for being 100% local and run by small business owners. Today was a perfect afternoon well spent :-)

If, however, you have a questionably overpowered long-tail cargo bike running a custom Bafang BBSHD mid-drive setup that may or may not have been engineered during a caffeine-fueled "more capability and power is always a good idea" phase... these are your people. I rolled in with what can only be described as a mechanical riddle wrapped in an enigma of wiring harnesses and torque sensors. My Bafang BBSHD setup had become inhabited by a small tribe of mean spirited electrical gremlins. I'm capable with bike mechanics, but this had gotten over my head - I was bracing for a massive bill (maybe significant part replacements). Instead, the team at Alki Bike & Board just... handled it. Calmly. Confidently. No drama. No upsell. Just pure competence. The bill was less than 1/10 what I had expected. This crew is overseen by a guy called Dayton - I'm not sure if he is more Thor or Hercules. On one hand, he seems like he could summon lightning directly into a mid-drive motor. On the other hand, he has the calm, slightly amused strength of someone who has already defeated twelve labors involving stripped bolts and cross-threaded bottom brackets. Either way, the man is operating on a different plane. He diagnosed the issues quickly, explained everything in plain English (instead of "mystical bike wizard dialect"), and fixed the whole situation for a small fraction of what I was mentally preparing to pay. I didn't believe him when he told me. Bottom line: Extremely knowledgeable Honest pricing No ego, no attitude Dayton = certified bike demi-god If you are near West Seattle and your bike needs anything beyond a gentle pat on the saddle, this is the spot. 10/10. Will bring my mechanical chaos machine back henceforth!

Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.
